I just read some random crap earlier in this thread about "hur hur hur sexism"

I don't see how claiming something is sexist makes one rage.

great, now we're gonna start a long debate on what is anger, and what is considered angry. Which is nearly impossible to figure out on the internets - I can say something and retract it as sarcasm, or claim that I meant it all along, type something up in sheer rage, and later claim I wasnt angry

You're obviously angry right now. Frothing at the mouth I dare say.

However, coming into a thread with the mocking statement of saying there's angry fangirls implies that there's angry fangirls. You came in mocking when there was no need (there's never a need) and you had no ground for it.

I see Isabella's outfit more befitting her trade. As captain of a ship a large portion of her responsibilities in port would be trade, not combat. Let's face it, if the man she's dealing with can't focus on the business at hand, she's likely to come out ahead in the bartering process. She's also a skilled duelist and most of the NPCs in DA:O seem to indicate that none of her average combatants land a single blow. I doubt she'd go dungeon crawling in that outfit, but for day to day business it's probably to her advantage.

Popular images =! realistic.

This is a very deep statement. In the context of video games, I would like you to think about the difference between what it is to be popular and what it is to be realistic, and what that difference means for the commercial success of DA2 and possible sequels.

And what does that difference mean? Is there a large number of realistic, historically accurate fantasy RPGs for us to compare the unrealistic, historically inaccurate fantasy RPGs to in regards to sales and critical acceptance?

Yes, a large number of people on this forum might say that they'd never play such a game, but people on this forum also say they're not interested in Halo or romance novels.

Yes, people bathe in Ferelden.

I'm pretty sure all that gold around her neck would weigh her down pretty quickly. And that cloth is something nice to grab at. (as well as her long hair should the cloth come off).

Her outfit isn't realistic from a fighter's point of view either.

If she was to be realistic her hair would be short, and that cloth wouldn't be conveniently covering her ass. (sometimes) that jewerly wouldn't be there and she wouldn't be wearing that head...thing. (isn't sure what to call it).

we should all wear fencing outfits

There's no proof, but there is evidence in that David said that people in Ferelden bathe on a daily basis. In absence of any information contradicting his statement, I choose to believe that's the case.

Where do they bathe? In rivers? Especially the metropolitan folks?

Unless they have some type of Roman style Bathhouses, which is probably. And if Go...Graider said it, then I guess...

Odd. I wonder if they have scented soap in Fereldan. (I'm pretty sure they have in Orlais).

And why couldn't we go to a bathhouse? :(

Mages shoot water out of their hands similar to showers. Every household has a shackled "bathing mage".

That's an interesting question. I hadn't thought of that.

I assume most villages are built near rivers or wells in the first place. How could they survive without a constant supply of freshwater? 'Bathing' might mean filling a large bucket with water and using a cloth to wash and rinse.

Ferelden was once part of the Tvinter Empire, so major cities might have an aquaduct system and sewer already in place.

If you can make soap, it's trivial to make scented soap.

Ferelden was a frontier of Tevinter Empire, rather than real part of it -- even Denerim, the biggest city is just something that was built eventually around what used to be old Tevinter fort/outpost. As such there's no major cities to speak of, really and these which do exist aren't likely to have much to do with Tevinter.

There is stone "bath" sinks put in some of the houses in the game, which also seem to double as spot for washing the clothes. However, without convenient way to deliver the water i'd wonder how large part of the population really bothers to "bathe daily", outside of these who have servants to take care of the tiresome aspects of it.

Because they keep lot of dogs..?

edit: come to think of it though, we don't get to see too many of them in game. Rats, squirrels and possessed cat brigade seems more frequent.

There's a few stray dogs around. But there's a lot lot of Mabari (which may or may not be pure breed)

Yup, but the mabari mostly shows up in kennels in areas where it's appropriate for them to be NPC to attack the player...  you don't see many NPCs with them. Then again, from the comments in game it seems like actually owning a mabari is pretty rare/something to be proud of.

Or maybe there's a big wet dog at the center of Thedas and its pungent emissions collect in a hotspot underneath Lake Calenhad.
