Someone has to mod this.
Shogun 2: TW is moving away from easily moddable text files, and haven't released a dev kit in ages. So, I doubt it happens.

I like the AI incompetent it lets me pretend i'm actually a military genius when playing against an opponent that gets confused by cavalry going behind it every time. Though i hated empire for the reason that my own men got confused by me foolishly telling them to move forward as a coherent formation.Upsettingshorts wrote...
Yes, even though I fully expect the Strategic AI to be as laughably incompetent as it has since they changed to a 3D campaign map. Oh, and the Battle AI has been touted as "improved" for every installment despite minimal - if at all - gains in actual performance. Still gonna buy it though, they've got me hooked.
I've played every Total War game and the AI has never risen above moderately competant.

It did, but boy did it need them. Europa Barborum is class. I don't usually praise mods so universally, but EB is what vanilla Rome should have been.

Yeah, in Medieval Total War (the first one, but last to use 2D maps) the AI was moderately competent on the campaign map. Once they went to 3D with Rome the campaign AI went to laughably incompetent. It couldn't handle the number of variables presented to it.

If you think about it, that King Arthur Wargame did something pretty close to what would be ideal as a Dragon Age: Total War. It had the large-scale battles, but each one of your knights went on quests with different conclusions from time to time.
It would have helped in the questing was actually good. There were some decently complex situations and tangible rewards along with that standard moral karma meter, but the voice acting was terrible. Moreso in the second game.
So yes, actually, something like that done with Bioware level AAA voice actors would be a nice thing to see!

Qunari also have cannon and other gunpowder type of tech they could use.

So how would the folks who did Total Wars react to: "Hey guys, why not take Total War and get personal with it? Get some in-depth story lines like in DA? Yeah, we can split off from the main campaigns and go on quests and stuff?"<br />
<br />
How would they react to that? And if it's a positive reaction, then there it is, isn't it? Your answer. Now all you have to do is wait for them to come out with the new Total War mod. Complete with quests and everything.<br />
<br />
C'mon folks. Isn't that part of what the problem is around gaming communities. Those wanting other game genre to modify more to their likes. Let the games be the games. If you want RPG, then let it stay RPG. If you want FPS, then go find an FPS game (there's plenty of each out there). Or whatever it is you want to play. Keep it simple. Let the companies continue to do what they have proven they do best.
make a game similar to King Arhur 2?
