Yeah this worked for me as well. However THIS IS HOW YOU TREAT PAYING CUSTOMERS? If I was a computer luddite like most people out there I wouldn't have been able to follow this. Makes me think twice about purchasing Mass Effect 3 when it comes out. Likely will be easier aquiring it over P2P.

I understand your frustration.  However, the discussion or suggestion of piracy is not allowed on the forums.

Then how are we supposed to voice our concerns? It isn't as if Bioware provides any other avenue of contact.

Voicing concerns is fine.  Suggesting piracy is not.  You could have stopped before that last sentence and made the same point.

FOR THIS TO WORK, CHECK http://social.biowar...ntitlements.php
IF THE DLC IS NOT LISTED, IT WILL PROBABLY NOT FIX IT. IF IT IS LISTED, IT SHOULD FIX IT.

Download this - http://supportfiles....nostic_beta.exe

Run it.

Read the log file.

If it says:

[Sunday Dec 26 10:42:30 2010] rc=0 ; ServiceStatus=NotInstalled]

Wait for it to finish. Then go to Services.msc (Control Panel / Admin / Services)

Refresh services list.

Find "Dragon Age: Origins - Content Updater" on the list, right click, and "Start" it.

Load up game, log out (if logged in), log in - all content should be authorized.

(This is a hackier version of Snowysoul's fix. Wish I'd read that first; my bad)

It works for me, but that's not the idea, haking my own new  payed game every thime I wana play....

Like I see about 1 year, and there's not good solution.. (I tryed the others and doesn't worked)

If it helps i think the error it's in DAUServiceSetup_Steam.exe

Creating service: DAUpdaterSvc
- error rc=-1; CreatService string=Failed to Create the service (1072)

Good thing EA can devote so much dedication to telling people not to torrent their material, but gives NO ADVICE AT ALL on how to remedy the problem. I just bought the Ultimate Edition through Steam, and my content says I am unauthorized.

I managed to play Leliana's addon through once, but now everything says unauthorized again. Not even sure how that is possible, for you to cancel my authorization. I have tried everything listed to try to fix this problem, and nothing is working. Any suggestions?

Guess I won't be buying DA:2 like I had planned.

Only gamers here. Go to support.ea.com and click "Contact Us" to talk to EA directly.

But if they can't help them who can really? Steam aren't the right person to turn to , EA can't help you and bioware offers same thing as EA. Something tells me that this whole ide was just made to take our money(kidding). Anyways I'll be trying the things I read here but honestly would stop recommending players to buy this game from steam atleast till eaither bio or EA comes out with a real solution to this question. But the blame most likley end on steam. This isen't the only bioware game that turns to the problem on steam. Funny enough if you go buy the original in the shop rather then on steam is usally a 100% working one. So yes steam most likley are the bandits in this story.

Didn't read through the entire thread, so forgive me if this is a repeat. I purchased the Ultimate Edition via Steam and to enable the DLC, I had to create an account on BioWare and enter the DLC code from Steam here: http://social.biowar...redeem_code.php

It choked at first, but I tried the code again without any hyphens and it went through fine. That seemed to enable everything in the game.

Online chat support at EA mentioned these steps and it worked for me:

1. Go into My Documents\\BioWare\\Dragon Age\\Settings
2. Make a backup copy of the file "addins.xml", and
3. open addins.xml in notepad, or any XML editor. (I used Notepad++)
2. Wherever it says RequiresAuthorization="1", change that to RequiresAuthorization="0".

I know that EA's online support is suggesting this, but this will actually break the DLC.  It will show as authorized, but areas such as Warden's Peak, Bann Loren's lands and Ostagar and the sites for Stone Prisoner will not show up on the map; and the item rewards for completing Leliana's Song, GoA, WH, etc will not correctly spawn into inventory even after the achievements show up.  Authorization state is stored in several other files in addition to the addins.xml.  This solution is a non-solution.

This is incredibly enraging and needs addressed immediately. The irony is that all this is doing is punishing those of us who have paid for the content, as pirated versions complete remove these restrictions. What a logistical nightmare.

edit: And Bioware/EA, do not come in here and tell us to do the 1 to 0 edit trick. It fixes nothing.

There is actually a rather lengthy DLC troubleshooting FAQ pinned to the top of this forum along with a extensive solutions roundup thread pinned to the top of this forum. There is also a patch in the works to hopefully completely eliminate these issues (described various places including the solutions roundup thread). There are solutions to the issues, editing the addins.xml file just isn't one of them. If you would like help finding those solutions, you could check those pinned threads and if you are still having difficulties, follow Raen's instructions in the pinned "read first" thread to post your own help thread.

I've looked at the FAQ. The problem is not on our end, it's on EA's and needs addressed.

It is being addressed with the next patch. It is just proving to be more difficult to fix than anyone anticipated. The current beta of the patch fixes all authorization issues but seriously exacerbates the problem with increasingly long load times the longer the game runs for a reason that no one has been able to pin down.

And when is the projected release date for this patch?

There isn't one. It's difficult to set a release date when they don't know precisely what is going wrong. They hoped to have it out several weeks ago. You can also use your registration codes to get the EA digital version using their Origins download manager. The newest version seems to have fixed the UE specific issues.

No, the disc version has always worked. Several of the digital versions were putting the CD key in the wrong location in the Windows registry, including EA's own. They have corrected that now. Steam has had the information to correct it for quite a while now as well. There is a standalone fix for the CD key issue that is incorporated into the beta patch. If the CD key issue is your problem, you can get the standalone fix and run it.

My install recognizes the cd key. My game simply refuses to authorize my DLC, regardless of how many times I relog in. I therefore cannot load my game, which is preventing me from playing. I've tried several of the "fixes" presented in the stickies, none of which work. I'm positive that it's on EA's side at this point. So outside of waiting for a patch to fix it, I guess I could just go download it "elsewhere" and play it with no problems.

There are other potential fixes particularly if your DLC was authorized at some point, and people more than willing to help. While having to try all kinds of things is frustrating, I have yet to see anyone who actually stuck with the process not get it resolved in one way or another without resorting to piracy-talk of which will get you banned. There are only fellow gamers in here, not EA reps and only rarely BW devs. The patch may be belated, but it is in progress. So, you can get help here and enjoy your game or you can scream and yell to the official EA tech support at support.EA.com.

Well, as I said, I've tried every fix relating to unauthorized DLC that I've been able to find in the stickies over the last 6 hours, and none of them have worked. I've seen many others report the same thing, so unless they're lying, there are many others having this issue that haven't gotten it resolved. But if you know of other methods that I should try, I am certainly all ears. I would love nothing more than to get the game working, as I paid for it and the intention was to play it.

Create a new topic with the information from the "read first" thread that includes what you have tried so far and what the results were. If folks here can't find a solution for you, do exactly as the devs said to do in the UE DLC thread and PM Fernando Melo from BW.

I did this, and now I don't have any of the DLCs.... What do i do to get them back?

I had them all, and didn't see the Windows 7/Vista diractions, and did the first set of directions instead.

What codes from STEAM work?
Or as a steam user, am I just shafted. Image IPB

EDIT: looks like I am. what a waste.

Got Dragon Age Ultimate from steam it didn't work at first either.
But got it to work and wanted to clear some things up.
Got 2 CD keys one for the Ultimate edition and one for all the DLCs with it
Make sure Dragon Age is closed and not open
The Ultimate edition key is entered on this site under Profile > Registered games and put code with the correct platform that you have. try with dashes at first, (worked for me) if not try without it.
For the DLCs to work enter that second key under Profile > Redeem Promo code enter it in there and without dashes as when i did it with dash no dice!
Start up the game and check your downloaded content and it "might" say unauthorized, mine did but gave it a minute and tab over to buy then back and it cleared up. i suspect all it needed was time to check to the DA servers idk. hope this helps.
Also just some FYI used this on a windows 7 64 bit system

----For Steam buyers this worked for me so here it is from another thread----.
For everyone who is having problems with the DLC on the ultimate edition - I have the answer. I was told what to do by a friend of mine who had the same problem and his worked straight away, didn't thing the same would work for me but gave it a try anyway.

hopefully it will work for everyone else too.

find your dragon age folder, you may have saved it else where but this is how I find mine.

C:\\Program Files \\ Steam \\ steamapps \\ common \\ dragon age ultimate edition

once your in there find the file that says REDIST should be near the bottom, once in there run the file that says DAOU_UpdateAddinsXML_Steam when that finishes run the other file called DAUServiceSetup_Steam, when both have finished start up your dragon age ultimate and hopefully everything should be working.

This worked for me.  I'm too lazy to go through the whole forum to figure out if a real solution has been met but if you entered the promo code and have windows 7 make sure to delete all your addon stuff....so delete the AddIn folder, Offer folder, and Offer.xml in Settings folder.  Then run the above executables in the steam folder and you should be good to go.  *phew* i'm glad i got it working.  Got real scared real fast for a little while there.  Hope this solves everyones issues.

Well bought DAUE from steam and I have the same ****ing problem. Way to go Ea and Bioware for ****ing up royally. None of the fixes work and I'm not taking another 2 days to reinstall the thing. One would think they would have fixed it by now since it's (this issue) been around for what, nearly a year.

Way to treat paying customers. I will not be buying Mass Effect 3 no matter how good it is, good day.
