I will always be a fan of the Mass Effect franchise, I stood by bioware ever since the first one was released. The ME universe has delivered an experience unlike any other game i have played and being a huge fan of science fiction and space amplifies that.

I have taken inspiration from ME and if it wasnt for the first Mass Effect i would probaly still be playing halo and Call of duty... Thank you bioware for creating such a riveting story and franchise, you guys to me are a golden company that delivers only the finest. I love you bioware forever on.

Finally, Bioware gets some well deserved praise.*

* in the form of awards

Could not happen to a better developer.

Kasumi didn't even have to sneak into their offices to rig the votes. :bandit:

Yet, I fear there will still be those who will complain...

Even though this was a vote by the people who make and play these games...

All that really needs to be said is...

HECK YES!! Go Bioware!!

Woo hoo! Go BioWare! Mass Effect 2 is probably one of my favorite BioWare games to date, and definitely my favorite recent game of theirs. A well-deserved pat on the back for the studio!

I took part in the vote for this publisher --- they deserved it.

Really --- it has been a real great product that should indeed be a staple to look at for future games. Def an industry changer to boot. 100% Re-playability. Graphics -- story --- they really laid down an awesome Action/RPG.

Congradulations --- and please continue your hard work.

Havent been on the forums much but when I saw this announcement on Facebook, I decided to sign-in and give BioWare their praise. I love ME2 and loved the changes you guys made from ME1, making a lot of the old systems smoother. Can't wait for ME3, DA2, and SW:TOR. Keep up the good work guys.

Yes. God forbid the ME2 team get anything else on a discussion forum other than endless praise.

What part of there's a thread for that did you fail to understand? Here's the link, I think you are familiar with it

http://social.biowar...5/index/4891292

Yes, obviously - we can't have criticism outside of one thread, that would be horrible!  I mean, why would anyone want to read an opinion that they don't share?

You can't have it in this thread. They earned their rewards--if you disagree, disagree elsewhere, as you've been directed to, okay?

"Bawww, I just can't *bear* to read criticism of my favorite game!"

There's praise for ME2 in every single ME2 disappointment thread, and no one complains about that.  I'm sorry, but I'm not one for double standards.

I don't think they've "earned" these rewards - ME2 wasn't some masterpiece, it was a fairly enjoyable, not outstanding, shooter.

Well done, Bioware! I'm pretty sure I voted for ME2 as GOTY (it was a while ago that I did it though so I don't really remember...)

I'm disappointed that they didn't win best soundtrack-not even place in top three. Did they even listen to it?? To me, an amazing soundtrack is one of the hallmarks for Bioware's games, and I'm sad to see it lose out to FFXIII (which had a crappy soundtrack and just won because of all the FFXIII fans).

Awesome, well deserved.

Now if the plot was actually decent, it would have won game of the decade.

Wow, reading comprehension is your friend. How about we compare opening posts?

Since a few of these topics have been locked down for one reason or another as well it seems one gets created each day or so, it would be in everyone’s best interest to have a central topic for this.

Whether or not you love Mass Effect 1, Mass Effect 2 or both games. There is some concern by several of us about the changes that were made to the game franchise. This topic is to be used to point out what some of us didn’t like in those changes and why. Hopefully, from those that did like the changes, get their viewpoint as to why they like them as well. There is no right or wrong answer here, just various perspectives on two games from those that play them.

Hmmm, the opening post SPECIFICALLY asks for the opinions of people that disagree with the OP and is an open invitation for debate.

Here! Other nominees for their games were Dragon Age: Origins, Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening, and Star Wars: The Old Republic.

Congratulations, team! /images/forum/emoticons/grin.png And also:

If you want to discuss your disappointment with ME2, there's a thread for that. If you want to discuss what makes an RPG or the decline of BioWarein general, there's an off-topic forum for that. If you want to discuss whether or not ME2 is an RPG, you can create a different thread for that. If you want to congratulate BioWare for winning a fan-voted award, you'll have to start another thread because this one is closed.

Keep it enthusiastic, okay?

A specific request to NOT turn the thread into another ****fest. It's not a double standard.

Because discussion is a ****fest if it's not all "enthusiastic" praise, right?

Yes, but ME2 won because it was really, really, kickass. It got near-perfect reviews almost everywhere. FFXIII wasn't that good of a FF game. Wasn't that great as far as general gaming is considered, tbh. The franchise has had some great ones, but 13 was a bummer, and IMO it coasted on the other games sucesses

Lol, more irony.

Here's a protip: mainstream game reviews are worthless.

Whether they earned the award is subjective. They won the award. Through fan voting.

There is a time and a place for voicing one's disagreement. As this thread was created to congratulate BioWare on winning something, it seems a bit rude to me for someone to then go into the thread and say BioWare didn't deserve it in the slightest. Especially when there are other places you can voice such views on the forums. I'm not even adverse to someone creating a thread about something that bothers them, assuming it wasn't a repeat of another thread and was conducive to further discussion.

Now, I don't particularly like people discussing threads (as opposed to the topic of the thread) or the nature of the forums on the forums either. They tend not to be productive. So you can discuss the subject of this thread or move on to another thread with a subject more to your liking.

Also, being intentionally discourteous or hostile is against the Site Rules.

@ pacifen. The thread title does not say it is a support thread. It seems to me that it is an announcement thread. So I think it is fine to complain or say that another game should have won. Unless you want to have the OP change the thread title I don't see this as a support or congrats thread. So I don't think anyone is breaking any rules thinking me2 shouldn't have won. That being said , Dragon Age Origans should have won for RPG of the year.
