Alright, I know mostly no one will care about this, but I feel I should say something... mainly since I have no blog. xD
When Dragon Age II was first announced, I had some problems with it... The new art style, Hawke being the players character instead of our own, The conversation wheel...
The art style I know I will get used to, thats a given. Anything in the Dragon Age Universe I will still play or read, no matter what. This is the first game where the universe just captivates me, and I will never be able to get enough of. I'm speaking... or rather, typing my thoughts on Hawke being the character.
Hawke is a human, we have no choice other than having to play a human. He has a family... we can't decide if he does or not, this isn't an Origin story. Hawke is the main character. He has his own thing going around while our character from Origins is lollie'ing around doing his Warden stuff. Also, Dragon Age 2 is a narrotive story. It's telling a story about Hawke. Now to the point, I believe Hawke is the main character, and not our Warden, because it's meant to help us know that it is a whole other world.. Our Warden isn't the only one to do something brave or fight back the Darkspawn... this game is meant to tell us that there are other stories to be told, and there always will be. Hawke, is Hawke... our Warden is us. This game reminds us of that. This isn't some... one hero saves the world. Its because of all a combination of things that saves the world. Dragon Age is it's own universe. BRIEF SPOILERS AHEAD: If Maric never ran from his mothers camp as he was being chased and died, he would've never had his two sons. Or if Duncan never got caught for his crime... he wouldn't ever become a grey warden and recruited our Warden. In the Dragon Age Universe, a combination of events can help the world, or destroy it. Hawke just happens to be one of these events.
So my basic rant for me... is to point out Hawke is just one of the many people in the Universe who standed his ground against the Darkspawn. We had our Origin story and our shugging shoulder conversations. Bioware wants us to know Dragon Age is a very much alive universe. I believe it.
