Hey, first off I want to say thanks for all the feedback I have received
from players and DMs from other servers. It seems that even though NWN
is an "older" game there are still plenty of people that are as
passionate about it as I am. :blink:

OK so I was thinking since there
doesnt seem to be a lot of players out there that want to do Beta
testing ... I have heard several reasons and I bet you have heard the
same from your friends ... reasons like the players not wanting server
wiping after beta, not wanting to deal with posting bugs, or just not
wanting to waste their time beta testing at all when there are a lot of
pretty good non beta servers out there.

So I had this idea::wizard:

Since
there are soo many servers out there that are still in beta that need
testers why dont we form a non server specific group of players together
that like beta testing and dont mind being honest with constructive
criticism. We could then set up times to test each others servers and
finally get some good feedback?

I am more then willing to run
around in other server as a beta tester and give my honest feedback to
other servers and I think most gamers are like that. And its not a
"waste of time" because we will all catch similar problems and be able
to share ideas together.

Anyway .. thats my ramblings for today.
If you are interested post here or PM me and we can figure out a way to
get the group formed up!

We're in as well, and I'd be happy to beta test! Though some servers like mine use a few haks, so even beta testers in this group may be less than willing to participate for those servers, which I understand.

I went ahead and created a group. you can join it here:

http://social.bioware.com/group/3158/

I am not sure how we can coordinate which servers or when, but after a few sign ups I will try and put something together. Until then lets keep posting suggestions here and on the group page.

See you in game soon!

This is something I like. I am a Dev on a server and I know how hard it is to get players to test. I think this is an excellent idea. I know there are other players out there who are looking for various things for various reasons. We all have experience. Why not form a group to help everyone out? I'm not looking to pick apart anyone's creative effort just to be snarky, and I dont think anyone else is either. We are all looking for similar things.

It is easy to find things that are "wrong." What Devs and builders really need is constructive, informed feedback to help them get to where they want to go. Maybe it isnt where I want to go, but that doesnt mean I cant help them, or at least support them if I truly cannot help them. Showing up is half the battle.

We are all in this together. NwN and D&D is a hobby and a labor of love. If it werent for you, I probably would not be here.

That, in my opinion, is the bottom line.

Good show, Zhurrie. Nice.

Joined the group. =) And I agree, what's really needed is constructive feedback--especially feedback that takes into account what the server's goals are instead of what a passing player's wants are. I remember Obsidian Shore's beta--we were also a heavy roleplaying server but during beta we had a lot of people pass through who farmed and grinded, never spoke to anyone, and never gave any feedback. And if they did give feedback, it was to complain that they wanted to grind and not RP. With that in mind, I think any information given for each server's beta testing should include information about what kind of server it is so people can keep it in mind. Obviously people from other servers who are just there to help with testing are probably not going to roleplay at all--but they can keep that in mind in their testing. On the flipside, it would help someone like myself know that while testing someone else's server, I should pay less attention to the story information and more attention to the action aspect.

LOL...we get that alot. My fav was just recently when a person posted this;

"I have been playing here a month now and I just hit 7th level. On good servers I should be 20th at the min. The levelling here is too hard. "

All i could think was WOW...he made 7th in only a month?!?

On this idear;

GREAT freaking idea. A dedicated test group would be cool. I still think with as many servers as we have in Beta though it would be even BETTER if the grip of us sat down and discussed what systems we all could use and build on and let the base go from world to world....

*shrugs*

Who knows? Maybe this would be a good step towards world domination. I mean...ummm...server alliance.....Posted Image

I'd be up for it on WSI, but I don't have enough time to bug test elsewhere... can't even find all my own bugs, heh.

Id say friday 1 server is picked and all testers go to that server and stay for 1 hour with game time starting at 6pm.

I'm fine with that, though I'd like to anti-volunteer my own server, and nominate Zhurrie's, since it was his idea. If he's alright with it, of course. However, there are different time zones, and not everyone may be able to get on at that time (I will), so hopefully it would be open all day. I've personally signed up on Zhurrie's server though I haven't checked in about whether or not I got approved.

That sucks! Maybe we can think of a way to include overworked servers?

I'd be more than happy to help test any type of server be it RP, story, action, even PvP (though I'm worse than useless at it :crying:).

I'm currently running an action server and am working on another that is more story based so some months down the line I will also be looking for assistance from any beta players, no matter their preference in play style to test all aspects of my new "baby".

This is a fine idea. :)

I am testing the Empires of the Sands  server today, if anyone is interested in joining me let me know.  You need to have some Haks but they are all downloadable as a self installing file on thier website.  Before you can log onto Empires of the Sands you need to register at the website as well (or email me and I can fast track you ... I got a few friends there)

I test Empires of the Sands all the time and I am more then willing to test elsewhere, so please post suggestions in the above link.

This is a great idea and I'd be very pleased to have a few beta testers at my small server. When no-one is around it can be a real grind to build sometimes. Especially if the project has been going a while. I find that as soon as a few players come in and say 'Dude, you really should fix this' it gives fresh impetus to get stuck into all the things that need doing.
