If you are looking for the top of the line glass, TruVue Museum glass is pretty much the best there is. The quality comes with a steeper price though.

If you are looking for ideas to suggest to a framer, there are a couple of framed Illium lithos in the framing thread in this forum. When talking to the framer make sure you ask for conservation materials (cotton archival mats and at least 98% uv protecting plexiglass or glass), and make sure they won't cut up your artwork to make it fit into a smaller frame than it should. After spending $700 on something it should be protected properly.

How many manufacturers of 98% UV-glass are there? I know Tru-vue has it and Flabeg has one that claims 100% protection. From what I've been told the one with 100% protection from Flabeg makes the artwork appear too dark.

In terms of framning I would use a mat that covers the non-damaged part of the white border of the litho.

The place I buy my frames from uses stuff called Acrylite OP-3 which is labelled with CRYO on the protective film. There is a non-glare version available called OP-3 P-99. Being curious I did some investigation and found that the companies Acrylite and CRYO merged together a few years ago.

TruVue also offers plexiglass with similar properties. I don't know anything about Flabeg unfortunately so I can't comment.

TruVue Museum Glass is actually glass though, not acrylic which makes the cost so much higher when you need larger sheets of it. Making glass without imperfections larger than 18x24 becomes costly, especially if it has all of the special coatings and properties for protecting art.

Personally I don't like glass because it gets pretty heavy, and I wouldn't want to see how heavy a framed Team/Earth Alliance would be with glass. With plexiglass glazing and an aluminum frame my Earth Alliance only weighs ~15 lbs.

I just wanted to add something to the storing prints in portfolio's discussion. As I had stated before, if your storing prints 13 x 19 or smaller then I highly recommend the Professional Profolio by Itoya. Its economical, archival, and really comfortable to look through given the padded leatherette cover. But again, as I said before, they don't make anything bigger than 13 x 19 for that line. I have been looking for a nice 18 x 24 portfolio that is at least equal in quality to Itoya's Professional Profilio line, one that also has a padded leatherette cover (I just don't care for hard polypropylene covers). Anyways, on a recommendation from an artist I recently met, I placed an order for a PRAT 18 x 24 Start 4 Leather Presentation Case. I didn't mention PRAT before as I hadn't even gotten my order yet and had zero experience with them. Well, I got my order yesterday and wow, just wow. They are a bit pricey so I was expecting high quality but I wasn't expecting them to be as nice as they are. The 18 x 24 Start 4 Leather PC is just a really nice portfolio, hands down one of the nicest portfolios I have come across yet. Unlike the Itoya Professional, the PRAT actually has a real padded leather exterior which is a HUGE plus in my book as the padding is actually one of my favorite aspects to these portfolios. It just makes them far more comfortable to look through. Basically the Start 4 Leather has everything one looks for in a high quality portfolio including a strap for securing the pages. Unfortunately, while PRAT does offer a lot of size options for the Start 4 Leather, they don't offer a 13 x 19, lol. So I guess I will be sticking with Itoya for my 13 x 19 and I will go with PRAT for my 18 x 24.

The MSRP for the Start 4 Leather Presentation Case is 299 but Blicks currently has them for 40% off (176.45). I don't know if that is the normal price they sell them for or if this is some sort of sale price. You would have to contact them to find that info out. Blicks also has a coupon (Expires 5/27) that gives 15% off plus free shipping so the price comes out to be 149.98 delivered to your door. That's easily the best price I could find for them. Adorama sells them for 225 + shipping on eBay. So if anyone in here is looking for a nice 18x24 portfolio...well, this is about as good as it gets, both in regards to quality and the price your going to be able to get it for. I just placed an order for a 2nd one.

Its important to note that the item I am talking about is actually the PRAT Start 4 Leather Presentation Case, not the PRAT Start 4 Leather Portfolio. They are 2 completely different items. I have zero experience with PRAT's portfolio line, which again is compltely different than thier Presentation Case line.

Edit....

Just wanted to let everyone know that I found a new seller for the 13x19 Itoya Profolio Professional Display Book. The company is Cameta Camera and they sell for 54.95 each. Best of all, if your order more than 1, the shipping stays the same. That basically means that each additional portfolio you order, your saving at least 10 bucks over places like Adorama and Dick Blicks.

I have just done another update, listed Anderson and Promethus, and added a question to the FAQ, and info to the Other information section(a "duh" answer to Unsigned lithos, (come on, we know someone will ask eventually if its not there) and updated the link for trading thread.

I am missing some dates info so if anyone has it, fell free to post it, TIA.

Sad to see no Marauder Shields Litho:P.

Sorry its been behind on updates, have been getting ready for twins!

Oh and, BTW, this thread has crossed the One Year Anniversary mark..... I think:unsure:. And they said it couldnt be done.

I'm in need of some help, lithograph trading related. I traded with a fellow member on BSN, good guy, I hope my package got to him. As for my package, it's being held in customs does anyone know why it's being held in customs? This is the second time now and the price is ridiculously high this time.

What purpose do they keep it in customs for?

In DK everything that not from Europe is stopped in customs and opened as well. I guess the lithos could be laced with all sort of things? :)

They also add VAT which is 25%.

It's 100% guaranteed if it can be tracked. If it's a "letter" there's a chance of it being missed by customs.

Strangely lithos from Treehouse shipped using XPO go straight past customs. If the value is less than around $15 the item skips customs unless they get suspicious.

Try beating this. I guess I called customs around 20 times.

The thing is, the customs charge price is.. high, really high. Earlire in the month I had one customs charge of £12, no problem! This time, £60? What the? Why's it so expensive? Is there a way they can release it without me paying?

What exactly happened on the May 7th date, it got departed but where exactly? Back to the sender?

And also, are you saying it's better to ship without tracking ID to make sure you don't the item doesn't get held in customs?

Lastly, what customs no. do I call? Parcelforce? That's the one I've contacted twice already.

You call that high. I've payed hundreds of dollars in customs.

Don't they apply VAT in UK? In Denmark you have to pay, there's even a standard fee. I contact the carrier responsible for the delivery, usually though they contact me.

The more the item is worth the more you pay. Fx. a litho costing $300 will end up costing me $426 with customs.

Some carriers like UPS you can pay afterwards.

I would always use tracking. Usually I try and cheat customs if possible by declaring a low value. They have screwed me enough as it is.

Date Time Event

May 8, 2012 02:36 PM Consignment is collected at 5272 Søhus Center Postbutik

So they held it for a month and then released it, apparently because they were busy.

I see. And yes I do call that expensive, it's just a pety way to collect money. They've seen what's inside, a picture.. lol

Anyway, what do you recommend? Should I just let the seller reship it to me without the high postage costs so it passes customs or just wait it out (not sure of the outcome, woman said they'll reship if I don't pay). Or perhaps I can just keep pestering them?

Pestering customs will probably make it worse.

In DK the package is sent back after three weeks. There are exceptions to this.

You could deny delivery and have it re-shipped with a low value. That may work but if it lacks "sufficient" paperwork they might ask for receipts and then it gets tricky.

Also you say "postage costs" do you mean "declared value"?

No I meant postage costs, the price of posting the package since theirs many differnet types via international iirc.

So what should I do? Any particular idea that comes to mind? :/ Don't really wanna wait forever but at the same time I'm not paying that ludacris price.

Not sure how a Bioware store release would line up time wise, but here is to hoping that they don't overlap with Comic-Con. :)

As far as I'm aware:

Lithos with white borders are signed and numbered.

Lithos with black borders are numbered.

Man I can't wait to hear if these are really coming out. I love the artwork in Attack Europe (even if the name is kinda goofy), as well as the Prothean Battle.
