 In the Mass Effect Codex entry for the Asari, it describes their philosophy towards alien species. As an example of their forward thinking, it describes how the asari assimilate and manipulate new species into accepting their culture and thought process, acting with such cold and cruel disregard for new species' culture and traditions.

I say, nuke em all. Better yet, sterilize em. Reduce their control on the Galaxy by such a degree that they are helpless against the will of the oppressed who have become the oppressors. See how they like having their beliefs and traditions rewritten.
