My Ultimate Edition arrived today.

It contains:

1. Disc 1: Dragon Age: Origins
2: Disc 2  Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening
3: A sheet of paper with a code on it to download all the various bonus items, mini-levels etc.

I already have Origins installed and patched to 1.4 so assumed that I could put the specific Awakenings Disc in and install that too - but there's no installation option or instructions and nothing in the manual about this disc.
In fact I think the manual is just a recovered reprint of the original manual....

The DLCs seem problematic too - right now 3 of the larger ones are just sat at 0% downloading progress after many failed attempts. Presumably the servers are being hammered by new owners?
I really think the DLCs should have been included on a Disc but there you go, at least I can hope they will eventually download.

The UE has everything on the discs; you don't need to download anything. Just install DA:O over your current installation, continue the install with disc2 when asked, and all the DLC will be installed along with them. You can use the single activation code to activate everything with your account at once.

Thanks. Eventually all but 2 of the downloads worked but I sure spent a lot of time watching these things fail.

Will do a full install now.

Hi,I'm a total noob to DA and these forums....I would like to know if my DA:O UE is a complete fully patch version and comes with the witch hunt 1.1 patch as i've tried downloading anyway and got an error when trying to install.

Also if possible could someone tell me in which order i should play?I mean i play DA:O then awakening should i complete these first before attempting any DLC or try to incorporate then whilst on my first playthrough?

OK I re-installed DAO over my existing DAO and this time it did install Awakenings and all the DLCs.

However now all the DLCs are "unauthorized" and I can't redeem my code again because I did that when I was trying to download them the first time. How do I get a new code or get the code I submitted to authorize these items?

I've checked again and nowhere in this product does it warn "If you already have DAO please re-install from scratch before doing anything else".

It sounds like the DA updater service isn't pointing at your new installation. Was your previous DA:O version a digital download or retail? Regardless, this may be something tech support can assist with so I'll send the thread into the tech support forum. There are threads there, I see, that are dealing with this sort of issue, so you might find other info within those.

I owned DAO retail also. Basically the issue is now that I "wasted" my 1-time code as I fumbled the installation. I'll read around a few more threads here and I've also sent an E-mail to Tech Support.

If the code successfully redeemed, then the DLCs are attached to your account - you have not wasted the code. You can verify if all the DLCs are on your account at this page.

Ensure you log in to the game once with the email address & password used here (also reflected at the top of that page), and your DLCs should become active in the game.  This can take up to a minute depending on connection.

If no DLCs are changing from unauthorized, then likely the DA updater service is not running (or was not installed correctly) - there are several workarounds on the PC tech support threads depending on the cause (the same threads will help you identify the issue).

Hope that helps.

All seems to work fine now - I followed the advice to do an Uninstall and a full re-Install and now it's properly associated my Ultimate Edition / DLC code etc.

Thanks to the Users, Moderators and Bioware staff who provided help and advice :D

Can we install UE over our current DA:O installation or do you recommend intalling from scratch? If that's the case, how can we export/import our characters/saved games and stuff to the new installation? Where is this information saved? Is it safe? I don't want to lose anything....

You install over but you risk not having your DLCs authorized so best to un-install and re-install the whole of DA UE.

During the Uninstall you get the option to keep your characters and settings so they remain safe.

If you want to manually back them up for safe-keeping these are in C:/Users/<You>/My Documents/Bioware/Dragon Age

Has any one had any other installation problems with DAO Ultimate?

I have installed both discs and due to game freezing I uninstalled as I thought it may be corrupted.

My problem is the 1st disc won't reinstall for a 2nd time - it stops during extraction at the core.rar files at approx 25%. Error received is 'failed to install'.

I've deleted the registry keys/disabled my AV and even copied the discs to the c drive as a disc image but without success.

Any suggestions?

You see the problem is I don't even HAVE the updater service. I tried and used everything i could, but diagnosis says I'm missing that service. Then i tried installing it using CMD,then it just says, installation failed, but rollback complete. I'm at a total loss of what to do at the moment

I am having the exact same issues, with my Steam digital copy. I have authorized all my content. But the Service is not installed. I have found it in the folder, but the I get the exact same issues Mike 13531 has cited with "Installation failed, but rollback complete."

This is very frustrating...

Further to my earlier post - failed to install error - I have returned my DAO ultimate game to EA warranty and their tech help have been hepful but problem not resolved. Tech help enabled a free download of the entire game from ea download manager and ... it also failed to install in the same place. The game originally was installed in win 7 32 bit but has failed to reinstall, I've used other hard disks and its also failed under win 7 64 bit and my original o/s win vista 32 bit. Now waiting for the response from EA warranty!!

Does anyone know how to fix my problem? Whenever I try to install my Dragon age ultimate edition, it goes fine until I put in the second disk. Then it just kinda freezes and then it says: "Game failed to install" Can someone please tell me how to fix it if they know how?

I've got the same issue. After 15.7%, install fails (no reason). I've tried multiple things (including wiping Dragon Age from my registry completely) and nothing helps. I've got a ticket in with EA, but who knows if that will resolve anything.

If you want troubleshooting help, please post your complete hardware, OS, and game version info, preferably, in a new post.  Thanks.

So I just got the ultimate edition (I wanted the DLC). I decided to do a fresh install and uninstalled the old game but when I get to 15.1 % the install stops and then I get an install failed. Does anyone know were i can get a fix for this?

I am running:

a quad 2.4
nvidia video card
2 gigs ram
and over 150gigs of space

all my drivers are up to date

First, you need to start your own thread with the information in the "read first" thread pinner to the top of this forum. Dredging up a long dead and unrelated thread is bad forum etiquette.

Second, there is a solutions round up thread pinned to the top of the forum. You may find the answer to your question there.

Third, while there is a massive amount of information missing, it sounds as if you either have a damaged disc or an incompatible DVD player. A number of people have reported issues with certain disc drives. You can use your CD key to get the EA download version of the game using the EA download manager now called Origin.
