I'm about to go to Virmire, before? After? And one of my friends said that you could actually replay it with your leveled up character. Please, no spoilers, just a general answer.

When you've completed the game, you can indeed replay with your levels and items intact.

Nice. But when do I save it if I want to explore everything, but still beat the main story?

You do not need to worry about not being able to complete sidequests until after Virmire...you will still have an opportunity to explore the galaxy, if you don't just try to rush to end of the main quest.

K, thanks. I thought it was going to be worse than this, like it just, ends.

Still, all sidequests are unlocked at this point, because of you having finished both Feros and Noveria, so I'd suggest just doing all of them before going to Virmire as the main story shifts into fifth gear there.

It would be a shame to ruin what many consider to be the first part of the endgame like that.

I'd say, to be on the safe side do all sidequests you care about before you go to the fourth main mission planet (which sounds like Virmire for you - you've done Therum, Feros and Noveria already?) because once you've completed the four, things start escalating. You *do* get another opportunity to explore, but you may not be able to totally complete sidequests - depends which ones they are.

If Virmire is your last story related quest, I would do all possible sidequest before that. There might be some you cannot complete afterwards (just a small fraction bust still). Also, when I went to Virmire the first time I couldn't stop and finished the game right there. What a fantastic long night it was... :)

Yeah, Virmire is my last main planet, but I've heard that there's one after that, but you can't really go anywhere.

I recommend completing all available sidequests before you go to Virmire. While you will be able to continue exploring after Virmire (but before the fifth mission planet), some areas will get closed off to you meaning you can't complete any sidequests in those locations.
