Can you purchase the Mass Effect 2 soundtrack if you live outside the U.S.A.?

As best I've been able to put together, you need this "Amazon MP3 Downloader", which presently only services customers in the U.S.A. Now, apparently I CAN download each track individually without it... But that's an extra $20 that I'd just as soon not pay.

Is there a local Amazon website for your country? You could try that one instead. I don't know where you live, though. Or you could try iTunes if it's available in your country.

Songs downloaded through Amazon will work in any MP3 player, correct? Just want to make sure they aren't like itunes and have their own format.

Oh, right. Yeah, amazon.ca.
But yeah, I checked amazon.ca first-- They lack any ME2 soundtrack stuff at all... Which is particularly puzzling, for several rather glaring reasons.
But iTunes, huh? Is that right, about iTunes using a different format? One limited to use with... Some apple hardware or software?

iTunes changed their rules some time ago when they switched all their titles to iTunes plus (less compressed files).
All iTunes plus titles that I know of can be converted to mp3 files via a built-in convert function, i.e. the files come in a proprietary format but can be converted to use them on normal mp3 players.

I see. Have you any idea what iTunes' reputation as a vendor is? And should I expect any difference in recording quality between iTunes and Amazon?

I think they're both hit and miss. Never had a problem with a soundtrack I've bought from Amazon or iTunes, but mixing on "normal" songs can be hit and miss from either.

Hmm. Alright. If I should avoid mixing-and-matching from different sites, then I'm forced to download piecemeal from Amazon, as iTunes carries the... I don't know what you'd call it, exactly: There are three soundtracks. The "Original", the "Combat" soundtrack, and the "Atmospheric" soundtrack, each sold separately.
iTunes doesn't carry the Combat or Atmospheric soundtracks at all. So as I said, it looks like I'm forced to Amazon if I wish to avoid mixing track sources.
Of course, then that beings me back to paying $35 extra between the three of them because I can't buy them as "albums" without the use of that Amazon download software...
Maybe I should do some research-- See how long this Amazon Downloader has been around for-- See if I can't get some idea of whether general North American availability might be forthcoming, or whether I'm just out of luck.

Amazon Downloader works with Amazon UK, funnily enough. I don't know how "old" it is, but I know I've had it for a year at least.

Ah, eureka: There is in fact Amazon MP3 (US), Amazon MP3 (UK), Amazon MP3 (Germany),and Amazon MP3 (France). Since 2008, if I'm reading correctly.
But no Amazon MP3 (Canada). And why Canada doesn't occupy its usual privileged position under the warm, comforting blanket of "basically still the U.S.A."-status, is beyond me. But, it means I get no soundtracks, and am sad.

You have my sympathy.
Oh, and strangely, the German iTunes has all 3 ME2 soundtracks... bought the ME1 from there, too. No problems.
