1. Final Fantasy IX (PlayStation)
2. Ys Books I & II (Nintendo DS)
3. Final Fantasy (NES)
4. Grandia II (Dreamcast)
5. Road Rash (3DO - featuring Monster Magnet, Paw, and Soundgarden)
6. Grand Theft Auto: Vice City (Xbox)
As far as RPG Soundtracks go, I find that most western RPGs don't seem to care as much. Though I do like the Baldur's Gate soundtrack for example, the only track I find memorable is the opening title music. On the other hand, take any Final Fantasy and the music is much more prominent. When I listen to a Final Fantasy soundtrack, every track brings to mind vivid memories from the game. Not that western RPGs don't have good music, it just doesn't stand out as much.
Update: I forgot to state the reason I included a 6th. 5 and 6 in the list are pretty much a tie, and I enjoy them for the same reasons. If I HAD to choose one I'd choose Road Rash because of it's historical signifigance as the first videogame (at least in the US) to have a soundtrack cd for sale at music stores.
