Sorry.

As I said before, seeing Leliana would be great, but in what capacity? Does anyone think she'll actually be a party member? Don't know if I want that since my warden and her got along rather, um..well.

That's the thing. If they just put her in there for no purpose it would be just a forced cameo appearance. There are a lot of people that weren't that happy with Wynne's cameo appearance, I remember.

And I don't see why they would. Isabela was an unimportant side NPC with a generic model. Our companions will probably be only significant as cameos and possibly a sidequest and will most likely only be relevant as cameos.

They gave the Darkspawn a radical overhaul, and they were pretty important to Origins

They were creatures, however, not characters.

Not radical. They look similar to the Disciples now.

And a lot of people who were unhappy because Leliana didn't make a cameo in Awakening. I think is nice to see the old characters and know what happend to them (far away from the epilogue).

So I have it in my head, after the blight my warden wanted to do nothing but sleep, after month the bed started to smell and Lel sent him a bill for child support and traveled to the free marches. lol

Does that mean they'll be on par to how tough the Disciples were?:o

But Disciples were given different look from regular darkspawn to make them stand out, to begin with.  Not to mention Awakening didn't change colour of the ogres and such, that's all DA2 thing.

Didn't Bioware catch grief about how the Ogre's were a different color then the rest of the Darkspawn when DAO first came out? It's like a lose lose situation.

I don't remember the ogres thing. There was some complaints about genlocks being green with pointy ears when the dwarves weren't though, if i'm not mistaken.

They did. People were saying they looked like gorillas and such.

between the 2 ogre version, i tend to prefer the origins models mostly due to the head model, i quite liked the protruding mouth in the origins model and not seeing it on the DA2 version made them not as awesome to me. a minor appearance trait to be sure but still...

Fair enough but it doesn't make much sense from a continuity stand point. The Disciples were evolved darkspawn with the ability to speak, as opposed to the normal genlock, hurlock variety.

Oh, and to knock this back on track: if Leliana were to appear, we would endeavor to make her look as similar to Leliana from Origins as possible.

Can we take this as a general statement of intent for former companions if they appear?

(Pretty please with sugar on top)

Are these the possible Leliana face morphs? Man I hope not.

the DA2 ogre looks kinda retarded...it lost a lot of detail and that  "holy s**t" factor it had in Origins

now....I don't know...the model itself lost details the horns are nowhere near as good looking (they look a lot like what you'd see in an old N64 game)....as opposed to the main characters' details which are greatly improved

and you know I am ok with some of the visual changes but as I said before if someone placed two pictures of the DAO darkspawn and the DA2 darkspawn infront of me and asked me if they were the same thing BEFORE I played DAO I'd have said no

ok let me give you an example

terminalgamer.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/Halo-Grunt-Comparisons.jpg

this is a comparison of the Grunt from halo 1, 2, 3 and ODST (I think...maybe reach..not sure)

even when there was a console generation jump you could always tell they were the same critter, you could put this infront of someone who does not play videogames and they will certainly tell you that aside for amor differences they are indeed the same kind of "alien" for lack of better words

now let's see the darkspawn

 from cache.gawkerassets.com/assets/images/9/2010/05/500x_darkspawn.jpg

to www.gamersplus.de/images/screenshots/screenshot_da212_35870.jpg

no I'm sorry if I never played a DA game I'd not say those are the same creatures...at all

No, no one ever made that complaint. The ogre the first creature in the game we saw and then the ogre and Morrigan.

Why would people complain that the ogre doesn't look like a genlock when they think they're a different race? That would be like someone complaining that an ogre doesn't look like a goblin.

Retroactive continuity, go!

People complained about the look of the ogre. No one complained about them not looking enough like other darkspawn.

I agree with you man, and i see what you talking about, never played Halo but you are right they feel the same, while DA2 i don't know,  i wish for the old Darspawn model pack with more horror in them, and The Displace are really a strong ones and again look nothing like the new ones from DA2, they look better and way awesome

side note, if you notice the orge in DA2 they have 2 colours brown and violet, in DAO they were violet, while now in DA2 they look brown, their violet colour wore off, and they became more brownish, like they devoured .....

I chose my words poorly on my last post when I said there's no need to change very character model. Since the graphics engine has been tuned there is of course need for changes. What I meant was that I don't feel there's any need to change any companion from Origins (if some of them DO appear) as much as Flemeth and Isabela have been changed. Hope this post makes my point of view a little bit clearer.

There are a couple posts around here by SonFran-something who appears to be an artist on DA2.  They talked about about how similar faces would look between DAO and DA2.  Right now, I can't locate the thread with the blue posts... but I'm also slightly concerened because I was slightly drunk when I saw them and now I'm afraid I might have hallucinated the whole thing.

That is so true!

BioWare makes something.  Group A, B, and C cheer.  Group E bawls.  Group F goes into a rage.
BioWare tweaks something.  Group A, B, and E cheer.  Group C bawls.  Group F goes into a rage.
BioWare make the changes group C requested.  Group B and C cheer.  Group A bawls.  Group F goes into a rage.
BioWare makes DLC specifically for group F.  Group A, C, and E cheer.  Group B bawls.  Group F admits they now have what they want.  Group F goes into a rage.

We're all group F eventually.  It's just a matter of time.

They do exist - I believe they're in the Isabela 2.0 thread.

He did say, in short, that they would try to make any returning companions look as close to their original as they could, but he also indicated  - at least, I took his statement to indicate - that he wasn't sure how close that actually would be, or at least didn't go so far as to say how close.

You reminded me, good sir!  Thank you!

Here are the posts I was talking about.  Actually in the Morrigan/Isabela thread.
