Nobody ever talks about it. It sounds like a slightly worse version of flashbang, but I can't afford dlc at the moment so yeah. Thoughts on it?

It....is....terrible.

I wanted so much to learn to use it, because a flaming shrapnel bomb is the coolest thing ever, but it is just pitiful, unusable stuff. It does no damage, it has no utility, and it is the only ability that you can use that actually hurts your squad mates if they stand in the blast radius.

Thank god for Fortification and Shredder Ammo keeping it from "worst power in the game" status, though. Golly.

Oh and does anyone happen to know of a video that implements its use by Shepard? Because I can't find one out there.

That has a lot to do with how terrible it is, I think.

Inferno Grenade is pretty bad.

One thing to note is that it doesn't even have the range that Flashbang Grenade has. Inferno Grenade is basically a CQC attack. The only purpose it could ever serve is in a fun, gimmicky Infiltrator build or something.

It's pretty good against husks, in my experience. Burns whole groups of them alive!

It's also hilarious to use with Kasumi's flashband. I like asplosions.

But, yes, there are more useful powers out there. Like Zaeed's Disruptor Ammo!

The heavy inferno grenade is better then warp against armor. But it is better to use zaeed for it then using it yourself.

I actually used it all the way on my first playthrough (Adept) but never really touched it other than the moments of "oh yeah I have that". Primarily because Zaeed was the first person I gained the loyalty of.

Yeah, rarely useful to be honest.

I actually like it - at least early on since you can do his loyalty mission successfully well before Horizon. On missions when you're fighting Krogan it helps tons, I frequently use Zaeed on Korlus and even Archangel's recruitment missions. After that though it kinda gets phased out in favor of more powerful and versatile powers - I never use it as a bonus power for my Shep.

To be quite honest, the only thing that Inferno Grenade has going for it is it's massive AoE. At level 1, it's radius is equal to that of Inferno Blast (the AoE version of Incinerate). However, it's Power evolution does less damage than a Level 1 Incinerate. This makes it great against lightly armored enemies (such as Husks), since it can hit an entire group, but against enemies with a lot of armor (such as YMIR Mechs, Scions, etc.), you're better off taking Mordin with you (if you don't have Incinerate yourself).

There's also the issue of aiming. When Shepard uses the power, it bounces several times before exploding, so it takes time to get used to. When Zaeed uses it, it hits instantly. It's better to have Zaeed use it and take an easier to use power, to be completely honest.

I could see it being useful on lower difficulties against enemies like husks and varren, I guess. I just really wanted it to be more than it was. Like....okay, let me put this in perspective.

Energy Drain, as far as I know, does more damage to shields than Overload does. Reave, as far as I know, does more damage to biotic barriers than Warp does. I just wish that Inferno Grenade were a souped-up Incinerate with additional properties, like Reave and Energy Drain are for Warp and Overload.

the two inferno and flashbang grenades could at least benefit from a cooldown improvement, 6 secs takes too long for the soldier (global cooldown on other classes make the grenades slightly less a burden), and 9 for the squad could also be shaved.

It could be like 4.5 for shep and 6 sec for the squad, but that's just me.

I wish this skill did more damage. If I recall, it does 100 points of damage over 6 seconds. That is simply not good enough! My explosive drone does 100 points of damage instantly upon explosion. How is a lava grenade less powerful than a drone?!

Depends how good you are at angling throws. I hardly use it but I can chuck it a good distance, no problem.
For Zaeed it isn't that bad, as henchies just instantly hit, but since Shep has to throw it himself it's possible to miss. Zaeed using the extra damage version can remove a target's armour with alarming speed however.

What about Flashbang Grenade? That's classified as a combat power.

I dont know what you are all talking about..Im playing Insanity and Inferno Grenade is AWESOME. It makes enemies pop out of cover, it temporarily stops enemies from firing, and you can literally keep lobbing them and win without firing a single bullet.

I use the Area Effect Inferno Grenade.

In Insanity, most enemies have shields, so you have to have squad Disruptor ON most of the time. The Inferno Grenade fills that niche in nicely that Squad Inferno would take.

I could see Inferno Grenade being useful for a Widow-specced Soldier, I guess.

From a performance standby, I love the thing (as long as I don't have to thow it myself, at least). However, when looking at it from a stats perspective, a lot of the 'WOW!' factor fades pretty quickly.

Frankly, I find that Zaeed is actually a really well-rounded character. He's got Inferno Grenade for dealing with Armor, Disruptor Ammo for dealing with Shields, and Concussive Shot for dealing with Barriers. Sure, his powers don't match up to Incinerate, Overload, or Warp, but all his powers are Combat Powers, so he keeps to the whole 'Pure Soldier' idea that a lot of people like. And his Passive gives him amazing weapon damage, making it clear just what sort of character he is. With a lot of the other characters blurring the line between the different classes, it's very refreshing to have someone who does one thing and does it well.

I tried using it with an Infiltrator & a Soldier. Worked out well with both tbh. Then again I play pretty close-up to the enemy
