Hm. So your name would change too then. How would we know it was the same Sten? That could actually be kind of interesting as a reveal. Sort of like the Archangel thing from ME2. *ponders*

And they are chosen for what they do at the age of 12 (IIRC), then they get educated for that role and proceed to do it for the rest of their life.
There are promotions. No Arishok has ever taken up the job at the age of 12. Your "role" is "military." or "priesthood." Not, "Second assistant undergardener."

If there is anything I have learned in my years as a gamer, it's that one can never safely assume a developer to do a certain thing.Mike Laidlaw wrote...
If Sten doesn't come back for DA2, I think it's safe to assume that we have something bigger planned for him later, don't you?

I honestly see no reason for Sten NOT to return. I mean the qunari will play a considerably significant role this time around. Sten not showing up would make no sense, in my opinion. Not to mention he's the one who first declared that a qunari invasion was on the way.

So it's like going to an american public school?

Good to know. I got the impression that that'd be the case considering the artisan jobs, where a smith would be different from a mason for example. Is it any different there?
I didn't mean he would be part of it. I just meant he should show up in some way, whatever that is. Even if it's just a quick cameo or something.Upsettingshorts wrote...

That doesn't make any sense. Just because he's a Qunari who expected an invasion of human lands to take place doesn't mean that he'll be deployed as part of it, let alone be near the protagonist.

You get promoted within your field, as much as possible. It's also always possible for a mason or a smith to eventually become Arigena.

Well, wouldn't it be the same between a scout and a cannoneer? Or does every soldier start at grunt level?

All soldiers start at grunt level, though in different military branches. Grunts in the navy require slightly different aptitudes than grunts in the infantry or cavalry.

US public schools are of wildly different quality, depending on where you live and your circumstance. It's not really the same at all.
Can Qunari be shifted in between branches if they may have better aptitude elsewhere?Mary Kirby wrote...
