Sten (Upon the return of "Asala": "I will not seek you out on the battlefield". Sten knows, but they (Gaiter/Laidlaw) won't let him tell.

Only voluntary submission is easier (though less trust worthy) and forced submission is a lot more fun.

Maybe it's just me but I'd most likely think forced submission to be a lot less trust worthy, more spite and hatred.

But no liars. The liars are already dead. As are the malcontents and the unwilling.

Hence. More trustworthy.

Voluntary converters can't be trusted to purge themselves of the insincere.

I thought the Qunari don't do forced submission. They just kill you.  Though I suppose fear of death could be be a form of forced submission.

I got the impression he meant that rhetorically.  He was making a point, not a prediction.  At least with that specific statement anyway, he certainly goes on to predict an invasion, but only after the Warden presses him on it.

Forced submission would be a war until their enemy surrenders, with one of the imposed conditions being submission to the Qun.  Sort of like wars of forced conversion.

Warden: "Do you think the Qunari will ever invade Fereldan?"

Sten: "Eventually."

Followed by: "I will not seek you on the battlefield."

I think he knows.

Technically forced submission wouldn't come into play until after they conquered you.

Doesn't matter, the Qunari have been straight losing since their first run of success and I don't expect much different in DA:2.

So far the score is 1::1

Lets see who ends this tie breaker!

Keep in mind the Chantry didn't get ALL their land back. Ever hear of a tactical retreat?

I'm waving my big foam finger for the Qunari on this one!

Ah yes, that makes sense then. I was misremembering the order of the statements.

The horns are explained. Armaas (bottom picture) cut his off when he left the Qun.

The grey skin versus the copper skin is, however, unexplained.

Right on.

Granted he says them in two differen conversations... not all at once like that... but that is still the order he says them in.

Honestly, I have always felt that since there was a hoopla before Origins came out IIRC which is why the skin options were so crappy in Origins (as i can recall Bioware wasn't going to have black or asian options in Origins due to you being in Fereldan), and the Qunari were considered the 'black' analogue by many, (look at Sten in the Sacred Ashes cg intro) they changed the Qunari because they didn't want to deal with the potential drama of having black people whine about being misrepresented in their games (pretty sure all gamers remember the RE:5 hoopla), so they gave them horns and pale skin.

If it was just the ogre thing. . .why the heck can Genlocks even use magic, but hey, maybe I'm just a touch too paranoid.

I liked the image of the qunari being black. (I wouldn't really call it black though, more 'middle eastern tan')

That's closer to what they are, though (in terms of real world analoges) so I can get that.

The cake is a lie. Sten has accepted this and moved on with his life.

The Orlesan Chantry got all their land back. The Tvinter Chantry is the one that's permanently lost land, and long before the qunari showed up, the Orlesan Chantry had called Exalted Marches against Tvinter.

I think Rivain and Kont-arr were part of the "Orlesian" chantry before the Qunari invasion.

I would've thought that the qunari would jump all over the cookie thing and started an entirely new caste devoted to baking with Sten in a supervisory position! Oh, just saw the dev response - maybe Sten will get back into fighting form in time for DA3 then (or some future game - hehe)!

Sten is a Warrior he was born to be a warrior put him in the role of a supervisory chef and he will still be a warrior!! why do people want to be something they are not.. you have farmers wanting to be merchants, merchants wanting to be warriors, and warriors wanting to be pastry chefs!! people should be happy with their born role in life..
