Just because Cassandra (ie the chantry) is trying to locate Hawke doesn't mean that Hawke is "missing" as in having a face on the back of a milk carton. It merely implies that Cassandra (ie the chantry) doesn't know where Hawke is at. It may also be implying (as has been suggested earlier in the thread) that Cassandra is just trying to learn more about Hawke so she doesn't approach the Champion unprepared.

Sooo.... essentially... we know nothing.

shes probably trying to find him, or maybe shes getting info on the guy, and doesn't want to ask him directly, it be a number of reasons, myabe shes a templar and shes trying to know as much about her enemy before she can take him/her down. possbilites are endless...... yeah... so on

That was already done in NWN2. . . it didn't work there either.

I think that Hawke goes off into the sunset at the end of DA:2 but if you buy some DLC then Hawke can go searching for Morrigan.

Or they make a DLC in which we can play our Warden if he went with Morrigan. Wouldn't be more off than for example the Leliana DLC or the Darkspawn DLC which didn't have much to do with the actual game.

Maybe Hawke is busy doing Champion stuff. And Varric is the only approachable dude.

Hawke is waiting behind the curtain, waiting to see if Cassandra can be trusted based on her reaction to Varric's narration.

Morrigan can't. Flemeth on the other hand definitly can check the wiki. I think Flemeth is Andraste, by the way. I'm not gonna even write my crackpot theory about Hawke's end. I'm afraid it might actually be right.

Flemeth according to Morrigan is not even truly human....anymore. Morrigan stated also that flemeth would appear in a form pleasing to the eye to lure weary chasind men ( to her hut of love)  and templars ( to their doom).
So Flemeth could transform into another human form. It s implied during the Shapeshifting convervsation that Morrigan could do this also if she wanted but had no desire too. Oh... Hawke has run off and met up with Morrigans god baby at the end. Then they team up ala Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan for Rush Hour 16 Dragonage in China Town! :D

And Priestly gains a bonus 50 old age points for naming Victoria Principal as aposed to naming Pam, Bobby, or Dallas.

I also think that Flemmeth is either Andraste or one of the tevinter mages mentioned in the beginning sequence of Dragon Age who were corrupted. Or she is a mage already possessing the soul of old God having been the resulting child of the dark rite and taught the ritual by her mother. Who is to say this did not happen when the first blight ended. As the grey wardenswere just formed and would not have known/ created the joining ritual. who knows.
