Yep, but San Salvador just went blue. The map updates. Syria's gone red for example.

It's a war out there, you gotta pick a side or get caught in the crossfire. Red army!

Ha! No **** more people picked Skies of Arcadia against Baldur's Gate 2. Between the two, Baldur's Gate 2 is objectively the better role-playing experience. But, Skies of Arcadia was released when JRPGs were the console favorite.

I think you would get a more unbiased poll by going to Macworld and asking "Which is better, PC or Mac?".

These user polls of "which game is better" are always useless. None of the voters have played all of the games, and all gamers have particular genre/platform/developer biases. e.g. I have a friend who swears up and down that any RPG not made in Japan is utter crap.

Is this where I come in and say that Baldur's Gate 2 is a favorite of Commies and Skies of Arcadia is a favorite of Freedom? Or are Cold War jokes still too soon?

Nah - It would be wrong and stupied at the same time  :P
The map, however, is pretty interseting - It shows primary PC and primary console division very well :)

Update - Except Ukraine - I smell a conspiracy :police:

Seems to be more of a cultural divide than anything

It shows almost nothing of the sort.  The US (blue) and Canada (red) have far more in common than the US (blue) and Libya (blue).

Given that the voting is something like 17k vs. 15k, I'd say that most of these countries are actually very close to being "purple" than hardcore red or blue.  Even Japan, a country most likely to vote against BG2 in huge numbers, probably aren't big visitors to GameFAQs.  But that much is just a guess.

I would guess that Nintendo had more a marketing push in America and thusly so followed Sega than they would have in Canada. But I digress this is a demographics issue that would require a ton of research and and novels of data to sort out.

I think you can trust the public to be objective on the matter!

Apples are for casuals - You need a proper skill to eat oranges without spilling all the juice on the table. It's a true art :-)

The WoW/Animal Crossing pairing is the perfect setup for every underdog story ever. The supporters of the clear frontrunner will be overconfident of victory in such an early bracket and simply not show up to vote, leaving the door open for a near upset as, I don't know, a youth group with an indeterminately sick mentor raises awareness through bake sales and the help of a plucky lacrosse playing chimp. I mean, where in the rules does it say a chimp can't be game of the decade? They'll lose, of course, but lessons will be learned, and at the last second WoW's icy heart will melt and it will join the protest line in front of the bulldozers and stop the mandatory playground from being razed with the power of hope and money. Then a lawyer will run up with a stack of papers and a magnifying glass and say he's found a loophole that actually grants ownership of the land to the chimp and the money can instead be used to save the mentor's house from foreclosure, plus remove the asbestos that made her sick. A nice tidy wrap-up for some dead-eyed series writer's last outlet for his college angst about cultural industrialization or whatever else that cute girl with the Che shirt made him think he believed. High-fives, laughter, freeze frame, and montage!
