Those pics came from an XBox? Big surprise. I've never seen such good quality shots from an XBox. People playing the XBox usually complain about the quality of their pics compared to those of PC users and some don't even know how to take screenshots on their console. For the sake of these people, if or whenever you have the time, would you mind going into a bit more detail what equipment you use and how you go about taking screenshots with it?

I've been using the Hauppauge HD PVR. Another member here, ScroguBlitzen, uses it as well to record game playing. Here are some samples:

It's about $250, and it comes with PC capture software. If you're on a Mac you'll need a 3rd party software as a subsitute, such as the one from EyeTV. Unfortunately spending that much money is the way only I know how to do it. I'm lucky that I have a video junkie friend who lets me borrow his, so I don't need to buy one... yet.

The quality is quite good, but will never be as high-res as screencaps and recordings from a PC. The screencap resoution is 1920x1080, but you need to reduce it 1/2 that size to make it look smoother, which is what I did on mine. Here are some other screencaps, but reduced to 25% of original size: http://imgur.com/IS0i5.jpg

I would love to see more xbox users posting their stuff online, but it does cost money to do so right now. I hope ME3 can built in this feature like the way Forza 3 does it... screenshots, record gameplay and cutscenes, make your own album, etc That would be really cool.

Good info, Tony, thanks. "Thumbs up".

Whenever I see a XBox gamer asking about how to take screencaps from now on, I can at least direct him or her to this option. I'm sure some people will find it very interesting.

But what's the advantage of XBox over PC anyway? There must be some advantage, since so many people get the XBox version of the game instead of the PC version.

On request:

SolidSolidino's Jane Shepard, as shown in ME2...

vd31p5.jpg

...with ME2 face code 743.HHP.G17.F82.6AF.171.H1L.A11.GD6.AC7.377.276...

converted to ME1...

janelookingahead.jpg

As always, for best impression, click the smaller pics presented here for option to view full size images.

The iris color is obviously not a match. But the conversion of the ME2 face code gives an E 7-1 here, and this is more green than blue in ME1, which does not match Jane's iris color on the pics from ME2 above either. Most of those pics show a light blue or greyish blue iris color which is unavailable in ME1. An E 7-5 would have been more in line with the deeper blue iris color on the top left pic from ME2, but I felt Jane lacked something with it. The default iris color for the type of Preset face used here appeared to suit her best, and this is a color missing on the generation screens of ME2 and can only be imported to it. So I chose that one instead for these examples. I've also made changes to the chin depth, which would otherwise have come out rather badly in ME1, and to the blush color, to maintain the more orange tint from the ME2 pics. In this way, Jane's face code for ME1 became...

Female C7
F 1-7, 2-4, 3-3, 4-1
He 1-17, 2-17, 3-24, 5-1, 6-7. 7-15
E 2-2, 3-6, 4-10, 5-15, 6-1, 7-1 (X)
J 1-1, 2-17 (X), 3-1, 4-21
Mo 1-10, 2-1, 3-1, 4-16, 5-13
N 1-6, 2-10, 3-12
Ha 1-7, 3-7, 4-7
Ma 1-2 (1-5), 2-7, 3-6

So if you choose the red alternatives in this code ("X" meaning "leave at preset value for the face type in question"), Jane will appear as shown with the pics above in ME1. I think this serves well as a template for any version of Jane here.

I mean, doesn't she look great? There's something special about her. I must confess that she made it to the final pool of top 20 femsheps of the "Share Your Shepard..." thread on my list. :)

Edit 22 May 2015: Updated one of the images to show again.

I'm happy to hear that, Solidino. I like giving presents to other people

But the credit for Jane appearing so great in ME1 goes all to yourself for having the artistic eye and skill to come up with such a beautiful character. And all the rest of us should thank you for the generosity to share her with the community so that we can play as "Jane Solidino", too. Much oblige for this, Solidino ;)

Now, if anyone has any trouble interpreting my "ME1 Face Codes", just tell me so and I'll try to explain things a bit better.
Regards,
D

She looks really great! I like ME1's version of this hair style, it's shorter and fits the military look for her. Good job Domar, and thanks Solidino for your comments.

As mentioned, I tried to make a few screencaps on my ME1 playthrough, but I thought it may be better to record a vid of the intro instead:

The only change I made was using the glossier lip makeup for her, since I thought the lighting in ME1 sometimes  washed out her lips. ME1's version of this hair is shorter, making her look more tomboyish, which made sense to me. She'll let her down more in ME2.

Well, Tony, that vid was a real treat! I was smiling all the time while I watched it. It brings me special pleasure to see your beautiful Jenifer in that marvelous game called ME1...and thinking I might have had an inspirational hand in the show. :D

I noticed that she appears as a soldier here and I think it suits her, at least visually. Not knowing her background in my conversion project, I envisioned her as a sentinel, colonist and sole survivor with training in assault rifles. Was she classed as a soldier when you first employed her services in ME2, too?

Twice in your vid I was surprised to see a departure from the PC version of the intro. The first time when Kaidan turns to Joker and says, "Nihlus gave you a compliment...", and Jenifer shows up to glance sideways at him for a brief moment and then back at Joker. That sideway glance does not happen in the PC version of the game. Neither does Joker, after warning Captain Anderson that Nihlus may be heading his way and then hearing from the Captain that Nihlus is already over there, close his eyes and shake his head with his head bowed down like that. I wish those scenes would have made it to the PC as well. It made the whole sequence more life-like. I wonder if there are many discrepancies like that between the XBox and PC versions of the game.

Well, since the femshep fan thread has so much going for it and this thread has grown rich in femsheps also while becoming a tribute to great custom-made characters, I thought my first post of the new year here should be something fun balancing things up a bit. So...

I must say that the E7-6, as seen in your top pic here, really suits Jane well, too. Never tried that one. Your choice make her look more quiet as a person, but also more intelligent, IMO. I note that this may mean you agree with me that the standard translation of the ME2 Face Code for her eyes does not yield the correct eye color in ME1.

As for the differences between ME1 and ME2 despite using the same slider positions, they've been noted by many people. It's clear that the transfer from ME1 to ME2 or vice versa is not identical. Bioware has made some changes between the games. In ME2, for instance, the hair generally seems a bit longer, jawline a bit more powerful and blush colors a bit stronger. In the critical case of iris colors, the changes are quite significant for the overall impression: it can make the character appear a different personality. If you try to "import" the greyish blue iris color shown in the bottom pic from ME2 to ME1, you won't succeed, because that setting gives a different hue of blue here. But when you import a custom-made character properly "as is" from ME1 to ME2, the game engine apparently disregards some of the new values for ME2 and keeps those of ME1. That's why the iris color which I first presented ME1 Jane with in this thread, which is a "purple-like" hue of blue that cannot be obtained on the face generation screens of ME2, will still carry through to ME2. So in the particular case of iris colors, it might be worth starting a career in ME1 just to ensure that the iris color in ME2 will be the desired one.

I agree that your Jane looks good in any eye color, but her personality don't appear to stay the same regardless. So if one envisions Jane to be a certain type of character, some eye colors will suit her better than others. For instance, in the above pics of Jane with different iris colors, the grey makes her look rather cold as a person and the red that she might turn devilish suddenly. The green...well, the green is, like you say, too strong - unnatural. Among the pics above, I like Jane best in the brown color (to the right of the grey). But she looks more interesting and intelligent in blue, IMO. So if I decide to play "Jane Solidino" for a while, I would pick my "purple-like" E7-7 blue or your E7-6 blue for her. But that's just my preferences. Other people usually have other preferences.

Hey Solidino, I'd like to see a pic of your Jane in action in ME1 somewhere. Maybe from a cutscene. Whenever you think you got a good pic of her. No rush or pressure, though. Just in case you like to share her exploits one day.
Regards,
D

Nice shots, Solidino! I think I like the middle one among the last pics best. I like how the light plays on that pretty blush color, lip color and skin tone of her face, and the expression on her face there. Like it a lot.

I see that you made her a soldier. Was she a soldier in ME2, too?

As for the "taking it slow", concentrating on the missions (not the assignments), if I understand you correctly, I'm surprised to see Jane & Co so well equipped on the first mission on Therum already. And you seem already done with Feros. So things appear to move pretty fast ahead for you.  ;)

What difficulty do you play with?

i'm playing in easy mode, old good times "in normal mode" with videogames, are gone for me now. Yes, sh'e s a soldier in ME and in ME2. I'll play ME2 again with her, because i've downloaded "bring down sky" and i want to see how it ends with Balak, in ME3. XD.
And yes, Feros is gone, it's time to go on...

What a great show, Solidino! Really fun to see your Jane in action like that! Thank you for sharing those moments. :D

I had difficulty keeping up with you in the end (have been a bit busy in my private life). So Jane's adventurous career is already moving on towards the great events in ME2? Gee, that was fast. OK, well then, after all those pics, I feel a bit bad asking you if you could do just one more: a shot of your "new" (imported) Jane from anywhere in ME2. Just one shot to make her story from my end of the creation line complete, so to speak. I'd like to see how she turns up in ME2. That would be really nice. But there's no rush or anything now, Sol. I can wait for this...;)

Time to get back on the main track for this thread...

GREAT ME2 CHARACTERS CONVERTED TO ME1 PROJECT

For details about this project, see page 2. Maybe I should remind you all that heavily modded ME2 characters, no matter how good-looking, are likely out of the picture here, since they can't be fully reproduced in ME1, for obvious reasons. The next selectee to be presented here, according to the random order determined earlier, is...

Male Character #3:

Phoenix Shepard by Jed Q, as seen on page 28 and 32 in the "Share Your Shepard..." thread...

Posted Image

The ME2 Face Code for him is given as: 532.WF1.G4W.15H.GGK.41W.MLB.6BC.18C.A78.E42.5

This guy's hairstyle has been modded to the one which Ken, the male engineer on board Normandy, has. But Phoenix does not look bad with a similar hairstyle available on the generation screens. So the code could easily to be adjusted accordingly. The only problem has been to determine the right type of eyebrows for this guy. The code gives a Ha 2-4, but a Ha 2-3 looks just as correct or even better judging by the pics above, so I've chosen that one instead. As usual, chin depth also needed some (restraint) editing to turn out OK. The ME1 face code for Phoenix then came out as:

Male C9
F 1-5, 3-2, 4-1
He 2-15, 3-1, 4-16, 5-4, 6-31, 7-1
E 1-5, 2-17, 3-16, 4-16, 5-20, 6-4, 7-1
J 1-31, 2-6 (X), 3-21, 4-11
Mo 1-6, 2-11, 3-12, 4-1, 5-8
N 1-12, 2-10, 3-7
Ha 1-14, 2-4 (2-3), 3-8 (X), 4-2 (X)

With the parenthesis options selected ("X" standing for "Don't change anything on this slider!"), Phoenix will show up in ME1 like this...

Posted Image helmet on

Darker and heavier armor, like the medium Onyx which soldiers get to wear from the start, would probably suit this fellow even better, but he looks good enough as an infiltrator with light armor here, don't you think? Like a regular hero. A "true" Shepard, if you will. Courtesy of Jed Q.

OK, need to make sure this first part won't get screwed up by some unforeseen technical hickup on this site before the second part is finished, so it gets posted now. But femshep fans should keep checking when this post gets updated with the last part, because I have a real gem in store for them...;)

...

Sorry for the delay (got hold up by other things for a while).

Alright, here she is...

Female Character #3:

oldharryold's anonymous femshep, a forgotten jewel that deseves to be brought up to the forefront of custom-made creations on this site. One version of her was shown on page 42 of the "Share Your Shepard..." thread, and if one cared to follow the link to oldharryold's album provided there, one got to discover another one. Not knowing her real name, I have named her Joan Shepard (oldharryold later disclosed it to be Sophie):

Posted Image Posted Image

ME2 Face Code: 911.WWW.W1Q.J7W.WWW.WC9.K1P.61G.W17.GF7.967.211

If you study the above two pics carefully, you'll note several differences between them, including complexion, type of eyebrows, brow height, blush color, and mouth shape. OldHarry evidently felt like changing his original character a bit, apparently from looking like the right pic to the left. As you can see, the left one is a really interesting character that any gamer would have been proud of to have created. If one tries to reproduce her in ME1, however, one would do well to ignore what the translation of the ME2 Face Code gives for face size, chin depth and jaw width, and stick with the preset values (symbolized by "X" in the new code) for the Preset face type indicated below instead. Changing the complexion from the experienced F 3-1 to a younger F 3-3 also produces a great character. But for the presentation as Female Character #3, I've opted for the attempt to recreate "Joan" as she appears on the right pic before the bigger transformation. So while the yellow code below is for "Joan" on the left pic, the grey is for the given alternative:

Female C4
F 1-9, 3 -3
He 1-31, 2-31 (X), 3-31 (X), 4-31 (4-29), 5-1, 6-25, 7-19
E 1-7, 2-31 (2-27), 3-31 (X), 4-31, 5-31 (5-21), 6-31 (6-9), 7-12
Mo 1-6 (X), 2-1, 3-16 (3-31), 4-31 (4-28), 5-1
N 1-7, 2-16, 3-15
Ha 1-7, 2-9, 3-6 (X)
Ma 1-2 (1-1), 2-1, 3-1

The result?

This lady may be the most beautiful ME character which I've seen. Never believed I'd say that about a Shep sporting that type of hairstyle (notoriously difficult to make look good on somebody). "Joan" appears good-hearted and very calm as a person, not the type who gets swayed easily. The silent kind with sparkling brain activity. It's as if she always "stands back" a bit to measure and analyze the situation before her, so as not to get caught unprepared for whatever is round the corner. Perfect traits for commanders. Shepard's voice also fits her very well.

Enjoy!
Everyone, hats off for the creation skills of Jed Q and oldharryold! :)
