There are only so many hoops I will jump through in order to get new items, but I have to say that Facebook is where I draw the line.I can only selfishly hope that the items aquired are quickly made obsolete.
I agree.
And according the items: If they are as easily accessible as the ones from DA:J, who cares

I will not conceal the fact that I deplore Facebook. I just think it's this over hyped pop-culture nightmare that has time and time again caused more problems for people then anything beneficial. That said? I know I will be creating a Facebook account for Dragon Age Legends. Perhaps it's a bit hypocritical, but, I just can't pass up the chance to obtain some extra Gear/Loot/Items from the get go.When this was done for DAO I think it worked fairly well (afer the bugs were worked out) and I can see why Facebook would want to work with BioWare to reap the rewards this mini-game will net with attention from the Fanbase and gamers just coming into the fold. I won't be signing up for the Beta though. I was a part of the Beta for the last DA mini-game and the glitches were just too frustrating. So, once the kinks are ironed out, I will be there, Facebook Account in hand. Looking foward to seeing what the game/story is all about.
Yup, me too.
Blast it, Bioware. I've already deleted my FB account three different times... Now I have to make another new one. Plus, I'm a Dragon Age Addict... I even bought the comic book.

One of the main points to having Legends on Facebook (as opposed to being a simple flash game like Journeys) is to encourage Social interaction between players. which Facebook does exceptionally well. More details will be made available as we get closer to public launch next year.
Oh so it is one of those things you have to invite friends to. If that's the case, not interested.

You could've just said that the point of the legends game is to sell more DAII copies...it's not like you're fooling anyone. Hopefully this will neither detract from the quality of DAII, nor break the game's upgrading/item acquisition curve. (On a side note, the fact that each DLC and unlockable item/map locale glowed was quite irritating-the fact that they glow didn't make them anymore special, and distracted the player-so if anyone from the dev team's reading-don't do that please)

Well done Ex, you have really pinned me to the wall by revealing that our business wants to sell games and make money. Quick! Alert the media!
That my friends is the rare, but much feared, Moderator Burn. Ouch!
Also, has there been any word on weather or not we can earn DLC items for DA2 in Legends?

Aye
Good thing i like to play singleplayer games.
I don't feel the need to tell everyone that i done a level or beat a boss (or tell everyone that i did something on this site for that matter) ,But for everyone that like's to do Social interaction it will work fine and simple i guess.
But still Bioware

I'm sorry Chris, but the same sentiment can be addressed to you, perhaps with more effect, since it was not me who was trying to vaguely phrase the reasoning behind an obvious marketing move. If it was indeed so obvious, why hide behind 'encourage social interaction between players' to begin with-why not talk straight?

Making any ancillary product, such as a game like DA Legends or Journeys, helps spread the knowledge of the game and, we hope, will eventually help us sell more games. I don't shy away from this fact at all. It is a basic core of business that the more word of mouth you spread (hopefully positive word of mouth) you hopefully attract more customers.
However, having Dragon Age Legends on Facebook is not a "money" thing. It IS a social thing. If anything, from the negative posts you can see in this discussion, we may lose players who would have played a stand alone flash game instead of a Facebook game. We went with Facebook as it is the best Social gaming system for the type of game DA Legends will be.
But I am getting ahead of things. We will have more information on Dragon Age Legends before it is open to the public.

That's your opinion of course and its respected. But last time I checked this website was indeed called "Bioware Social Network" and it actually does have a friend system, a good deal of features and isn't as intrusive, spammy or obscure as Facebook is. If this was just a social thing, I don't see why the game couldn't be integrated into this very website, which will be actually visited by people interested in your games. Or wait. You don't have to answer. It's quite obvious that you want to reach a sizable portion of players, after all it's good business. But as for Facebook being the best social gaming system for DA Legends, I personally find the statement way too subjective, vague and possibly biased.

You just said Facebook is a good platform for social.Okay, that's fair.
But how a game that is coming to this platform can help to spread the knowledge of Dragon Age.Journey was not a facebook game, and I consider it worked fine to spread this knowledge. So what can facebook Legends brings more in term of knowledge about DA than Journey cannot?
Is it a simple question of stats?I don't think so, cause stats do not bring us knowledge about DA, specially for people who are waiting for DA2, at least I can't see how or why.But perhaps am I wrong if you consider the simply number of players of Legends: perhaps in this number there can be some of them who never payed DAO or awainting for DA2
Now, knowing that EA and Facebook had just signed for a 5 years collaboration, including things like micro transactions, I don't believe it's still for a question of knowledges, but specially and only in a "money generator" aim.
It's because of this new collaboration that I believe you think "We went with Facebook as it is the best Social gaming system for the type of game DA Legends will be."
I believe that if this collaboration was not signed, then Legend probably will not requires a facebook account.

Ps: sorry if my post if not as clear as I would have want it be, language barriers
