Vids were made with Video Pad Video Editor (free 14 day trial from CNET, $39 if bought within the 14 days, thereafter price jumps up to $60-80). I encourage other people to try it -- it's pretty intuitive.

The accompanying video capture software (Debut Video Capture Software) doesn't seem to be able
to keep up on my computer and peoples' heads, hair and clothing have a tendency to flicker. (Hairless Alistair = )

FRAPS gives much better quality clips but you need to be able to convert the clips before Video Pad can work with them.

The download includes the Video Pad editing software, the Debut Video Capture software and the Prism Video conversion software. After the free trial expires buying all three is about $110. The Debut video capture software didn't really perform that well for me (you can see the video is choppy where I had to cut out multiple frames of people with disappeared clothes, hair, heads and bodies).

FRAPS makes smoother video clips. The free trial version is not time limited but can only make 30 sec clips and puts on a (relatively unobtrusive) watermark. The paid version allows you to make longer clips sans watermark.

FRAPS makes "avi" clips but they are huge (up to 300MB) and the Video Pad software won't recognize them unless you use software to "convert" them to avi's. I was using the Prism software but since the free trial expired I'm now using Hamster Free Video Converter, which I downloaded at CNET.

So for all of you who want to make videos, give them a try.

I was afraid the tribute wouldn't go over well. Not many people want to watch an MV for a song they don't know -- which also happens to be in a foreign language. Escaflowne is pretty old now, and I wasn't sure the tone of the song would come through for people unfamiliar with the source. Finally, while I love Maaya Sakamoto's voice, it's a bit too gentle to fit a scrappy City Elf, IMHO. However, I couldn't stop thinking about the lyrics and how well they fit some of the elements of the game, so I had to put it together. Thanks again for your kind words!

Oh, I'm so glad to find someone else who likes Esca! I loved the TV series, but sadly the song Yubiwa was pretty much the only thing I liked about the movie. The new character designs were just...ugh. And changing the heroine from spunky to suicidal? That was just wrong, IMO.

Thank you! I feel like I'm learning a lot with each one, so hopefully they will improve with time. Most will probably be Kallian-centric as she's the only character I've finished the game with -- and I have multiple saves of different paths. Right now I'm toying with quasi-humorous "bitter city elf commits suicide by AD after being dumped" just so her last command to the secret companion can be: "go be the worst father-in-law EVER."

Thank you for your fanfic "Epistles"! -- I love Kallian-fic and it was really moving. I'm glad Alistair still loved her, poor man.

Kallian + Anora tribute up. Nomance.

No matter what you think of Anora (I veer between admiration, annoyance and disgust), she's a strong ally/antagonist and deserves some props for holding it together when Ferelden goes off the rails. Sorry her relationship with Alistair looks so unpromising. The only video I had of them conversing was during a Landsmeet where he narrowly escaped execution. Not the best way to start a relationship. I do think Alistair and Anora will eventually fall in love (Kallian: Noooo!) and this is arguably one of the best outcomes for the city elves and Ferelden (if you believe the OGB will turn out to be A Bad Thing). Too bad it sucks for the Warden.

Loghain mac Tir tribute (of sorts) is up. After watching the Landsmeet duel over and over again it struck me how much it resembled a good old-fashioned shootout. Archdemon says: "Oh, yeaaah." Gotta love the Warden's glassy-eyed stare.
