This is a tribute to Duncan, Riordan and Sir Otto. My three favourite characters in Dragon Age. Sir Otto is not included in the video for he is not part of the main storyline but nevertheless, I still made it as a tribute to him as well.

STORY:

Loghain orders his troops to retreat as the signal flare is lit. The battle at Ostagar rages on and King Calian and Duncan fight alongside each other, The King is killed by an Ogre and Duncan avenges him by killing the Ogre, injured but alive, Duncan staggers over to the King's corpse and has a flashback of the King, as he sees Darkspawn running towards him, he rages and calls upon the last strength he has to battle them, meanwhile, Riordan is defending Denerim against the Darkspawn and the archdemon who sent an army of Darkspawn north of the Korcari Wilds to distract The King's army. Riordan climbs up onto a tower and manages to attract the archdemon's attention. Riordan jumps onto it as it flies by and manages to drive his sword through it many times, Riordan then falls of off the archdemon to his death and the archdemon lands on the top of Fort Drakon. A beam of energy shoots up towards the sky and Bann Teagan looks onward at it knowing that Riordan succeeded in destroying the archdemon, seconds later and a explosion happens on the top of Fort Drakon. The archdemon was dead and the Darkspawn attacking Denerim and Ostagar retreated...the blight was over...with King Calian dead, Alistair was made King as it was discovered that he had the royal blood in him, Duncan stayed by his side giving him advice and Loghain was executed for his crimes along with his daughter. Sir Otto became the leader of the Templars after defeating the demon in the orphanage and finally, Fereldan had peace at last.

And since the only reason that Alistair was accepted as king due to his bastard status was because Ferelden was in a state of emergency and the civil war needed to be ended, I find it highly unrealistic that he would have been able to take the throne (especially just automatically granted it like the story implies) once the Blight and civil war was over. And I see no reason at all that Anora would be executed. If anything, she'd probably be able to take the throne more-or-less unopposed.

Why would Anora be executed? O_o That's particularly harsh. I don't even want to imagine how he must feel, being "responsible" for his only child's murder.

If Alistair doesn't marry Anora and she becomes queen and Alistair is allowed to live, if I recall, a revolt begins in his name. I would have thought with the late king's uncle backing Alistair (and with him having Maric's blood) he would become king. I guess it's a matter of opinion since it was our choice to decide who became the ruler in Origins but this doesn't have our character as a warden, so I assumed Alistair became king based on his blood.

Anora was executed on the advice of Duncan.

And what about Anora's own not inconsequential political support? The nobles pre-Landsmeet aren't happy Eamon's proposing to put Alistair on the throne as Anora is plenty confident and the military part can be handled by her father. If the Blight is over then the fact that her father's dead isn't a mortal blow to her campaign and she can find someone else to be a general. Alistair's blood isn't the be all and end all for everyone and Eamon's one of hte more conservative voices on that matter. We also have no reason to believe that the late king's uncle would have more backing than the late king's wife. Eamon's mildly freaking out that they're going to lose at the Landsmeet when he tries to put Alistair on the throne because his position is so weak and Alistair is both unacknowledged and untrained until you find a ****load of dirt at Howe's estate and in the Alienage. If Anora can properly distance herself from that (which she's shown herself perfectly willing and able to do) then I don't think an automatic "What? We have an unrecognized bastard that happens to have the mythical Theirin bloodline! Announce the coronation!" is nearly that assured.

Anora was executed on the advice of Duncan.

It's OOC for Duncan to get involved with politics so strongly and he also feels that a Warden has no business being king and a king no business being a Warden so if it's up to him then he'd put Anora back on the throne.

Duncan never decided, he simply gave advice to Alistair with The Blight over. After all, he was a friend of Alistair.

What about the fact that the only reason that Alistair agrees to take the throne, hardened or not, is because Eamon convinces him that it's either that or being forced to all swear fealty to Loghain and in your story the Blight is over and Loghain dead so Alistair has no reason to agree to taking the throne and really doesn't want it. At all. And is perfectly fine with letting Anora rule so he doesn't have to?

Loghain was executed for his crimes. He was found out for what he did. So Alistair would have wanted to become king to see him dead.
