You can easily do it yourself, Cowboy: open the picture with Paint (if you have Windows, it's on your computer by default, if you've got another OS, open with your own picture editor). Save the picture as 256-colour bitmap file. This will affect the colors of your picture, but any 256-colours bitmap of size 110x170 can be opened by the game. Make another file sized 38x60 in the same way for the small image that's portraited in the party bar on the right side of the screen.

Though you get a better answer than mine, if anyone knows how to make a bmp and still get normal colors. I marvel at the photo-like portraits you find at some portraits sites. Maybe someone might help me too learn how to do it?

As far as I know, the game accepts up to 24-bit colour bitmap files. That's how much bit depth all my custom portraits have, and it's enough for plenty of colour vibrancy.

You'll have to manually down-convert portraits if they're 32-bit, though.

[EDIT] This might not be the case for vanilla BG1... I always forget about that. I don't recall what vanilla BG1 supports.

Ty for the helps. Dumbing down the graphic to 256 color rly make it ugly and its already in 24bit so i just toyed with the editing tool that i had on photobucket and made some slight changes.

Whatcha guys think?

ah national geographic's famous cover :) That girl was photgraphed by the same photographer when she was little, then that picture was taken again when he found her by chance again years later.

On topic: pictures look good. It's pretty easy to make cool portraits for BG, I hate to advocate using deviant art for pics, but I must admit I take some pictures from them from time to time :(

Thanks Valente, you're right: I tried it with my method of opening in Paint, but save as 24-bit and that gets accepted by the game as well: beautiful Afghan girl pic. Now that I know that 24-bit works as well (i got the 256-bit idea from a portrait site, when one of my own baldurization of pics didn't work) I will redo the picture of myself with a helmet (taken in an open air museum): i got a campaign with myself in the canonical party as a Painbearer of Ilmater (Divine Remix). I will look much cooler in 24-bit!

Just out of curiosity: what classes will you choose for the Afghan girl and Miss Ukraine, Christo?

Miss Ukraine is gonna be a sorceress or a enchantress. As for the afghan girl i rly have no clues yet though she might become my wild mage as ive been thinking of making one.

Also valente, i also try to not steal anything from deviant art as i respect the artist there. I found it on google while strolling for random thing and didnt think of checking the url at the time. Know the pages of the guy? ill ask his permision.
