I am totally over the whole unlockable items gig. I recently wasted my time and got cheated out of a couple unlockables in Journeys. That got me pissed and I started thinking. It looks to me like the majority of them are only going to last you for the first few levels, and rightly so. To get uber-powerful items right at the start of the game would jack up the balance. But I am not paying to get a couple of items that I am only gonna use for a few hours. So screw playing Dragon Age: Journeys multiple times to get all the in-game items. I'll play it once for the story (which so far isn't all that spectacular). And screw paying a premium for special editions of the game.

The standard version gets "the Stone Prisoner" quest in the US. As long as I don't have to jump through hoops to get official quests I'll be happy.

I doubt the major draw of the CE is for the special in-game items.

But I agree with you on one point: I personally don't really care one way or the other about the unlockable items. But they have not provoked any feelings of angst, either.

Journeys is a nice distraction until the DAO comes out. Its free, its fun and can get some unlockables. To me the free fun and getting some ideas of DOA is more then enought to waste the hours, minutes, seconds until I get my brubby paws on Dragon Age Origin. The unlockables are like a little side-quest. The desginers should be praised as they are giving the content away for free...

Considering that the vast majority of items are slot items that do not appear on your character, I would agree with you on their useless for the PC version. Considering that you can modify an item with the same exact properties in the toolset, it would make those items redundant other than the custom item artwork that is associated with it. Stuff like armour and weapons though I wouldn't mind having around if nothing else than for show and use within the toolset.

Bergen's honour was described somewhere to be one of the top helms you can get at the later levels, it will also only be availible later on in the game not from the start. I cant confirm this right now because i cant remember my source.

Pff. If denial helps you cope with the let-down of a buggy game in BETA, more power to you. I'll be happy donning my Helm of the Deep.

Well i think the DLC will last longer then you think.I do not think its gonna be powerful where everything is easy.At most it will make it a bit easier.Do not see why everyone thinks its gonna screw with the games balance...a lot of the items you do not know the specifics.

The unlockable items in DAJ give 5% spell resist then other increases the spell damage by 5%.There is an achievement called heavy hitter where you hit for 150 5% of that doesn't equal to much...helm gives 2 constitution 10 mental resist and 10 physical resist...a bit stronger but looks like massive or heavy armor made for a tank.So its not gonna make everything super easy and your still probably gonna die sooner or later.Whatever i am gonna enjoy my DLC.Still could always use more...come on more free stuff...

Didn't you just make a thread about how something happened and you were upset because you didnt get all three items, before this thread I mean. Just saying.

If this was an MMO forum, someone would have said "QQ moar"

Well ... it's not ... but as someone annoyed by your whining, which was completely pointless ... Almost to the point of frustration ... Why is this kid whining about free content that no one forced asked him to play?

QQ. Harder. Please.

@ Operative:

If you are talking to me, then I responded to someone else's topic, helping another to solve their problems with DA Journeys. I had none myself; I've had all three achievements for two days now.

no the thread author he made to my observation 2 threads pretty much about the same thing.

I know I got all three the other day, I was explaining to H8crime in his other thread that maybe his net stuttered or something, because he was upset that something happened and he thought he unlocked all three but when he checked he only had 2 now.

I really don't understand how people can complain about DLC. It's all free, except for--I think--Warden's Keep.
Their parents ground them and children feel the need to lash out online. You're projecting anger, folks. DLC is always a good thing, especially when it costs nothing.

Half of these people online are eager to show how rebellious they can be.

"I can't get the DLC I worked so hard for!" Becomes "I never wanted that stupid DLC anyway. Anti-DLC solidarity!" Grow up.

Yes I did. And yes, I do have a little bit of pent-up nerd rage. I appreciated DA:J. It was a lot of fun and I think it was a brilliant way to get people excited about the game and give them something to do until it comes out. My complaint was being expected to pay for in-game items such as the DDE and CE versions (CE being a bit better of course, because of the tangible items), and the items not being all that spectacular. Judging by my buggy play through of DA:J, having earned some items and then getting cheated out of them, if they decide to start charging for it they are nuts. The Journey's story, so far, isn't all that great and I see the items being used as an added incentive to pay in the future.

No they aren't about the same thing. One was calling out DAJ for being busted, the other was speaking on in-game items in general. Also, in both posts i had only 2 of the 3 items. So STFU

In your mind, each and every whiney thought deserves it's own thread.

With a name like "h8cr1me" I wouldn't expect much less.

Somepeople arent looking for the items for thier direct value in the gameplay. Some folks just want "all the stuff".

I am one. I want the soundtrack in the deluxe edition. I want the extra items. I want the extra area to play through. I want the FULL experience and im willing to throw down the money and reward the developers and publisher for innovating and investing in this space.

Ultimately, thats what this is about.

Do you like this whole flash advergaming concept as a pre-release to introduce folks to the world of a game like this? Do you like crossover items? If you dont, dont play DAJ and dont buy the game or just buy the version with less stuff for less money.

In my case, i recognize I am not really getting another $15 of value going with the deluxe version directly. I am instead getting a few dollars worth of cool stuff and putting the other $10-12 in letting a publisher know I want more investment in this game. I want THEM to offer me new content.

I want to be playing this game (or at least this series) and it to feel fresh two years from now because there have been incremental releases over that time, paid or not.

I don't see the problem. Personally, I think it's awesome that they've put interesting little things out before the game, and the items are just that, items. I can't even usually be bothered to collect all the regular items in a game, much less obsess over unlockable ones.

I'm playing Journeys because I was curious, and it's FREE. It's quite superior for a browser game, too.

I really do care for the items. I really, really want them.
But there's simply no feasible way to get it all without jumping through hoops or pre-ordering an insane amount of copies, including the CE. At the same time, the items does extremely little to make people pre-order. It just annoys those of us that aren't or can't get the items legitimately.

I've even started a group with the sole purpose of finding ways to add the items to the game without jumping through hoops. I'm not going to play the game until I know that I have the full experience. And items, no matter how trivial, is a part of that.

Yeah pretty much. That is what forums are for. In your mind you have to right all the injustices in these forums. It's not always butterflies and rainbows, buddy.

There's more to message boards than just being an outlet for whining.

Sure, you're free to make another thread just the same as your old one if you feel it's subtly different.

On the other hand, doing that is going to make it look as though you're whining for the sake of whining, and won't encourage them to actually take your views on board.

@H8Cr1me:

You're angry at your dad--don't take it out on me.

And you're not asking for help; you're making a declaration about how you don't want the unlockable items only because you can't get them in the first place.

It's like asking a girl out, her rejecting you, and you saying, "Yeah, I never wanted to go out with you anyway." I'm sure that happens to you all the time, though.

@Jabor: I am whining for the sake of whining. I am really looking forward to this game and I have nothing better to do on a Sunday night. I might as well be doing something Dragon Age related. If that something is sitting on here pissing and moaning, so be it. If a thread doesn't interest you within the first 3 sentences, shove off

@Jack Anvil: Your right. What really makes a guy mad is after telling a girl she is ugly after rejecting you, she comes back with, "how does it feel to get turned down by an ugly girl?"
