In my case, I tried several methods I've seen online for installing the service.  It was in the right location, it just won't install.  It's possible there are other methods.  You can also (allegedly) edit "Addins" a file in my documents to help this issue, but I'm not sure if that's something that's OK.  Search a little for that and you can probably find a guide to that.

I had a problem with the DLC that I bought recently. Warden's Keep, Witchhunt, Leliana's Song, Return to Ostragar. I uninstalled everything, reinstalled, downloaded all I could from my registered dlc page and installed using the dazip installer. Now all but two are authorized properly. Only Warden's Keep and Stone prisoner are listing as unauthorized for me now. Unfortunately, Stone Prisoner wasn't one I was having issue with before... grr.

For those of you who can't figure this out you have to run cmd.exe(as administrator

Anyway, here's a copy from the DoA wiki cause I'm too lazy to type all that. :D

"To install the service, run cmd.exe as administrator, change to the bin_ship directory under the Dragon Age install directory (for Steam this will be ...\\\\\\\\Steam\\\\\\\\steamapps\\\\\\\\common\\\\\\\\dragon age origins\\\\\\\\bin_ship) and run this command:"

http://dragonage.wik...s_Bugs/Glitches

1. run cmd.exe as administrator.
2. Right click the top of the window and select properties.
3. check the box for QuickEdit Mode, and make sure insert mode is on also.
4.A: To change the directory in cmd.exe use cd command (example for steam: cd \\\\program files (x86)\\steam\\steamapps\\common\\dragon age origins\\bin_ship) so set the dir to the bin_ship location and go step 4.B
4.B To install the updater use copy and enter the following string: %WINDIR%\\Microsoft.NET\\Framework\\v2.0.50727\\nstallutil.exe daupdatersvc.service.exe (for steam versions see qoute in post)
5. To grant proper security clearance for the game to automatically launch updater copy and enter the following string: sc sdset daupdatersvc D:(A;;CCLCSWRPWPDTLOCRRC;;;SY)(A;;CCDCLCSWRPWPDTLOCRSDRCWDWO;;;BA)(A;;CCLCSWLOCRRCRPWPDT;;;AU)(A;;CCLCSWRPWPDTLOCRRC;;;PU)

Granted the you have the framework of that version you can use this with no problems. Otherwise substitution may be needed to an available version. Okay? I'll check back when I get a chance see if anyone has questions. :)

EDIT: Clarified how to change diretory in cmd.exe with cd command.  I hope no one has it installed in some odd drive or something because it will be a pain to explain that. lol

Thanks.  Didn't realize this was on the wiki, and it makes some sense.  I have the steam version, but can someone please forgive my ignorance and give me a little help with the cmd.exe lines to input?

My steam is at "c:\\program files (x86)\\Steam\\..." and so on.

I am really not comfortable working in those text based places, so if anyone can give a little extra advice beyond the wiki, that would be great.  Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the reply.  I'll give this a shot when I get home.  I've been playing, because I only have one DLC that still claims to be unauthorized (Warden's Keep) and one DLC obviously won't kill the game, but I would have preferred if it was one of the ones that didn't affect the main game so much...

Fingers crossed!

Bought the dvd-version of the game from play.com, Could not get any DLCs authorized after installation and downloading/installing DLCs
The following worked for me: step by step:

Registered the game via EA downloader (after this the DLCs actually worked the first time, but when starting the game the next time, my saves didn't work and the DLCs was once again unauthorized).

start game. open downloadable content (?). Now it says "unauthorized" behind every DLC. Log in to the in-game-login while still seeing the screen above. Now it says "authorized". But if I exit this screen while still logged in, the DLC returs to "unauthorized".

So: Log OUT while seeing the DLC-screen. Now you can play. But obviously not while logged in. That is kinda dull. But still, I can play the game.

Hope this works for at least some of you :wizard:

Solly fol bæd engrish.

Yeah that made little to no sense. Try going to cmd.exe and using my other posts directions to change security settings for the updater service.

Falloutgod, I put in the string as suggested, and I'm getting the error message:

"CMD does not support UNC paths as directories"

Thoughts? Again, very much appreciate the assistance, as does everyone else I'm sure.

Edit: Ok, got it working for now, for me the trick was to find the real command place =P.

T
So step by step what I did:
windows + r
type services.msc
find dragon age
Press start(or similar, don't have english windows), the option automatic doesn't work for me, I still have to do it manually every time
Profit.

This prolly was here somewhere like billion times but problem for me was that I didn't know how to acces the real place(win + r). Anyways thanks for all the help around the forum, christmas is saved for now.

Now that I looked where to find it, it was in official support page, cool =P
http://help.dragonag...etail/a_id/2247 This link was given me as a "last resort" from the EA support.

The original problem was:
Having the same problem with Ultimate edition bought from steam, the day before yesterday. All DLCs saying "unauthorized", only awakening working. Not gonna play the game until it get's fixed, and if it doesn't am gonna want full refund, Could've gotten the game without DLCs 10e cheaper. Am willing to join any testing needed for this, running 32-Vista. I did send a support request for EA but that's kinda wasted time I think, atleast I tried to explain that I've already reinstalled the game and prayed for the gods so they won't give me the usual tips.

I got the normal edition of Dragon Age from Direct to Drive or Gamersgate or some downloadable store that wasn't Steam over the summer.  A few weeks ago, I got the Ultimate Edition from EA themselves.  EA's downloader program says that DA is installed (it is).  But while the CD Key that EA gave me unlocked all of the DLC, Awakening is MIA.  And since the EA downloader is already detecting DA as installed, the Ultimate Edition won't give me the option to download Awakening.  Is my only choice really to uninstall the game so I can download it again?

Did you insert the ultimate edition CDkey. The first one unlocks dao and awakening, second one all the DLCs.

I had dragon age origins with;
- the stone prisoner
- Warden's keep
- blood dragon armor.

When I bought the ultimate edition from steam. My activated content on my Bioware profile page had everything active EXCEPT for what I had activated before. I lost what I had before. I had to use the force start, and my content was not there.

FIX---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I found a Fix if it helps anyone.  My game is through steam.  By default go to C:Program files (86/steam/steamapps/common/dragon age ultimate edition/redist.   Then run the DAU commands.  This opened up all the DLC the ultimate edition comes with.

I'm having a problem with my DLC. I bought the Ultimate Edition a few days ago while it was on sale over Steam. Worked fine initially... no, actually I had to run some arbitrary fix in CMD before I could even log in. :| But after that, and after registering on the site, my DLC activated without a hitch and I played through the night just fine. Now today, all of my DLC read "unauthorized".

I've tried relogging, manually starting the service, tried editing the settings file, tried re-registering my code. Sometimes when I log in, my content authorizes for a minute or two, but as soon as I get past the character into, the DLC has vanished and reads unauthorized again.

Why is it that these problems have been reported in posts dating last year, yet they're JUST NOW working on beta testing a tool to fix it? Am I going to have to download a crack to utilize the content I legitimately purchased? I feel profoundly ripped off.

Deleting my profile.dap file seems to have fixed the problem, leaving me to wonder what bugged the file in the first place. I'm not opposed to DRM so long as it doesn't interfere with my ability to use the content I purchased. But that's EA for you.

Hello Victor

This is exactly what has happened to me.
It could drive a man to drink, well it already has -cheers.

I am at the stage where I am manually reinstalling all of the old DLC - which had disappeared.
After re-installation all of this is shown as unauthorised.
After this I will have to find a way to get "DragA changes" back.
Changes and all of the newer DLC (downloaded last weekend) has also dissappeared.

Originally had DragA Origins on DVD, and downloaded extra campaigns.
Last week I downloaded Origins Ultimate through steam.
After installation - I had "unauthorised error" for all of the new games.
When I tried to load the old games from original DVD.
I got  a "saved game cannot be loaded requires following content (asked for the previously downloaded extra campaigns )".

I contacted EA and carried out their "authorisation error" faq.
After this all DLC including changes disappeared from the game.

With EAs help it has taken around 10 hours to get to the manual reinstall.

I hope this helps and that some other players can avoid the same hassle.

Great game you guys have made
have a great new year
Richard
