I would like to share an observation I have made. The problem has not been described before in this forum, but perhaps someone else could be confronted in future with a similiar problem.

Phenomenon / problem:
Repetitive suddenly appearing DoF effect in the 'active camera' viewport where no da_dof effect is applied to the master or a camera.
The DoF effect appears for the full cutscene length. Other cutscenes opened hereafter during the same session will be effected as well.

Only solution to get rid of this:
Restart Toolset

After I was not plagued by this phenomenon for three weeks it suddenly returned and I got an idea by what it could be triggered. I made some tests; here are my findings.

Causal connection:
Condition: The adjustment of facial animations for speak lines with FaceFx.
Trigger: The preview of a speak line in the conversation editor

Circumstances of the appearance:

1. Preview of a speak line with an adjusted facial animation in the conversation editor. (Conversation then closed)
The active camera viewport of the next opened cutscene - which must not contain a manipulated speak line - will show the undesired effect predictably.

2. Preview of any speak line in the conversation editor. (Conversation then closed)
The facial animation for the speak line is not adjusted nor for another speak line of the same conversation.
If the next opened cutscene during the same session contains a manipulated speak line the DoF effect can show up but irregular.

We seem to have it narrowed down, mostly, to the Stage editor - it seems as though the code that triggers DoF changes in the renderer doesn't always reset, so you end up with DoF showing up for no apparent reason. Though this isn't true 100% of the time - so, you know, your mileage may vary ;) But generally speaking, we find it to be true.

Thanks, John! That is interesting!

It just came into my mind to add that I never use a stage in a cutscene. I only use a stage to preview conversation lines (facefx adjusted ones and not adjusted ones). Perhaps this makes a difference as well. I have already wondered that this special effect has not been mentioned before in the forum. The appearance seems to be rather rare.
