does it always lead to a romance? Posted ImagePosted ImagePosted Image

When she asked if I had feelings for her, I picked the middle response and said "you really don't think that".

Pretty much. If you are the qualified gender and be nice to any squadmate that is a love interest they generally take a liking to you.

It's funny how I chose Tali as my love interest, talked to Jack a bit after the suicide mission and she still asked if the reason why I talked to her was about sex (I said no though, I'd never cheat on Tali) even though I already went all the way with another person.

Honestly, I've never had this problem in ME2. The paraphrases were always pretty clear to me what did or did not start a romance.

While it is pretty clear what options are going to lead to romance and what are not, it would be nice if there were other paths that could be taken. Love Interest, Best Friend, Arch Nemesis, Betrayer, Political Diversion, Destined to Die... these are just some examples I am thinking of off the top of my head. Of course, programming for all that to possibly happen with all the decisions that are already going on is probably impossible, but I do wish they existed. I would love to have a specific character as a true 'best bud,' who would give you different answers for nearly every topic and who you could go to for input on touchy subjects, including things like speaking to the Council again or your growing Love Interest.

I've had a similar problem on my first playthrough, when the casual sex option comes up there's two dialogue options to refuse "No, I want to get to know you" and "No thanks". Either I'm incredibly stupid or the first option was very misleading, but at least you know it was romance dialogue from what Shepard says afterwards and can just reload.

I wish there was an option with Jack that didn't involve telling her basically to sod off.

But I guess her telling me to "F*** off!" as an end to her dialog branch is better than "Can it wait for a bit? I'm in the middle of a hissy fit."

I played as a female Shepard and you can awkwardly hit on Jacob and then back off right away when he gets weirded out by it. Then she can realize that her true love is Garrus, after she's given up on THE ABS.

There is a polite way to decline her, but she still won't talk to you other than "We talked enough, you're just pissing around. No hard feelings, but I don't want to play."

I think the option comes around the same time that Female Shepard gets to the point where she cannot talk either. And You have to tell her twice that you aren't going to romance her.

Okay, so I'm just about to have the conversation where she admits that she has survivor's guilt. I never declined her directly. Is it to late?

I think that is one conversation too late.

EDIT: Although, I think there is another rejection choice in that conversation. But I never tried it, so I don't know how she responds..

So there's no way to turn her down?

You just have to be clear from the beggining. At the stage you are at i don't think you can end it without really pissing her off.

Just save before every conversation with her and check outcomes.

Not for Jack.

If you pick anything but the "I don't like you." option, she'll eventually love you.

You have to tell her no twice (for some reason).
When she asks if you're interested, say no.
Then choose "Agreed. No romance."

Otherwise you'll either get into the romance, in which case she'll tell you to **** off if you take the first opportunity to "break up" with her.

I did this and she still loves me. Hell, I even told her I didn't care for her and she's still a few conversations away from the sex scene. >.>

I just don't talk with her anymore.

Wierd. That's what worked for me. After I said "Agreed. No Romance." She relatively "poltily" stopped answering my questions.

Hmm.. maybe if I never have that last conversation about her guilt with her, I'll be safe...

I thought this was kinda weak too. It'd be nice to talk with squaddies of the opposite sex without them getting all crushy. Especially Jack. Break down her walls, be her friend, her shoulder to lean on... just no love. Same with the others too. Worst of all, I couldn't even tell anybody that I was attracted to varren.

I accidentally ended up in a romance with Ashley in ME1, and accidentally ended up in a romance with Jack in ME2, now all she does is tell me to "**** off" when I try to talk to her because I broke it off as soon as I noticed the game forced me into it.

It's funny how easy the women in this game are - are the men this easy too?

Of course they are. Paragon, paragon, paragon... -> romance.

I see no reason to single out Jack myself.

Petty much. You can easily get nigamanced by Kaiden in ME1.
But thankfully you can't really get nigamanced by any of the guys in ME2.The lines to start a romance are obvious and its established very clearly when you are in a romance. I thought it was the same for the girls in ME2 but I guess
Jack must be a bit harder to catch.

The line to start Thanes romance made me laugh. He just finishes talking about his dead wife and "I want you" appears on the dialogue wheel. Thankfully that’s not what you actually say. They are all still easy as hell...well actually I lie Jacob you have to sort of work for I suppose. It’s pretty easy to miss the option to start a romance since you have to go thru the right dialogue (witch for once isn't simply the option at the top of the wheel) after his loyalty mission. I don’t even know you could romance him before I came on here. He's probably put off by how sleazily femshep hits on him in every conversation. (no mater witch dialogue option you pick, you end up hitting on him. Its bloody annoying.)

Jack's romance just kind of happens, because you're talking to her about the work Cerberus' did on her and all of a sudden she gets mad at me for romancing Miranda. Miranda is obvious because you say something about admiring her body, Tali is obvious because she talks about having to go through this whole process if you two want to hook up, Samara is pretty obvious as well but she refuses it (which is actually pretty awesome), but Jack's just kind of happens. Maybe that's just her character, but ... well. I guess that's just her character.

I hope ME3 has more Samara-minded characters, in the sense that if you are able to hit on them, they don't always go for it. The way some gamers here talk, it's like this game should be a dating sim in addition to everything else. I like to have some characters be off-limits.

Jack will think a Paragon femshep is hitting on her and will say no, and not want to talk to you anymore.
