Please direct me to where I said "I have a problem with the PS3 having steamworks".  I do not have a problem with the PS3 getting steamworks, it doesn't affect me one little bit since I am a PC gamer.

There has been no evidence to suggest that steamworks will be used outside of Valve titles.  I certainly haven't seen Sony or Valve say anything to indicate that steamworks will be used outside of Valve titles, so I don't know where you are getting the idea that this will become integral and mandatory to the PS3.

At any rate ME 2 will definitely not use steamworks and I very much doubt ME 3 will use steamworks either.  It is certainly the case that both Bioware and EA have resisted using steamworks on the PC platform so I don't see why they would suddenly embrace it for the PS3 platform and I really cannot see Sony making it mandatory for developers to use a third party suite of apps when they already have most of steamworks features covered with Sony's own suite off Apps.

I use steam myself on PC. But I dont see why people want to see it on the PS3 so badly? Anybody care to share?

Steamworks has two main benefits:

1. Updates won't require going through a time-consuming certification process. This is how Fallout New Vegas was able to put out two quick patches within days on the PC, yet the PS3 patch took a week.

2. Steam Cloud saves - you can save games online instead of taking up hard drive space and worrying about losing them if your HDD or console dies.

The 6-hour content will NOT be PS3-exclusive (at best, it will be a timed exclusive) and is probably the next piece of bridging content/DLC. Mark my words, guys.

As I've said sanity always prevails.People must remember no one said it was exclusive.

Well the reason people are worried about it possible being on PS3 only is the only info we have comes from a bioware PS3 thread. So we need to hear from bioware to find out what is going on.
I don't support exclusives even timed ones.

To FieryPhoenix:  We can use a counter-argument - No one said is wasn't exclusive either.  Why must 'not exclusive' be the default choice?  Remember, Sony demands extra bonus content.  The Introductory sequence probably doesn't qualify.

To LiamN7: You don't support timed exclusives, yet if you're here, I'm pretty sure you supported Mass Effect 2.  Kind of contradicts what you said, doesn't it?  I mean, how many timed-exclusives are announced as being so?  Most of the time (like in this case), a release on the other system (in this case, the PS3), is not alluded to, making people think that certain games (ME2 in this case) are exclusive (not counting PC) to a system.  There's really no way for you to not support timed exclusives because you just simply don't know which (exclusive) games are just timed exclusives or real exclusives.

I hope the PS3 version of ME2 gets exclusive content (aside from the Introductory experience, which is pretty much given as PS3-exclusive).  Why?  Because there's no reason for Sony to not make Bioware and EA include more stuff seeing as how the Xbox360 and PC both got the game a full year in advance.  There has to be a reason for people to want to buy the PS3 version, and that reason is exclusive bonus content.  Releasing this extra content as DLC for the Xbox360 and/or PC later on is okay, I guess, but it must be exclusive when ME2 launches on the PS3.  I would even prefer it stay exclusive to the PS3 so that the Xbox360 and/or PC fanboys will stop saying things like, "You can only get the full experience on the Xbox360/PC," if they know that a part of the experience can only be had on the PS3.

@ Reveur No I don't support timed exclusives. If a company puts a game on a certain system and then later puts it on another system also that is a different thing. If a company has a game and know they are gonna release it on all the systems but make one of the systems wait just so another think they have an exclusive that is stupid. I don't support that. When a game is released on multiple systems however it happens the same content should be available in the same way for all systems. I don't support one system having different content for games than others do. I know companies do this. I think it is wrong and stupid.

Anyone who feels cheated if the PS3 version gets all the previously released DLC and new content really isn't taking into account how game releases have always worked.

I bought ME1 for the XBox 360 in spite of knowing that it would eventually come out on the PC, which is my preferred platform. Not only did it come out on the PC, but it came with Bringing Down the Sky for free. So why did I buy it for the XBox 360? Simple: it came out half a year earlier than the PC version. (And really, I thought it would take them longer to get the PC port out.)

Every game you purchase can be purchased cheaper if you simply wait. If I had waited to buy ME2, I could have gotten it for less than $20 now versus the $60 I paid the day it came out.

Games go down in price as the months go by. DLC get included for free as the months go by. A logical, frugal individual would wait until a company announces some ultimate version of a game before buying it. In fact, I know plenty of people who do wait because they realize this.

So we're illogical and make poor monetary decisions because we buy games on release date?

I don't have a problem with the PS3 getting the DLC for free, I don't have a problem with the PS3 getting a "special" introductory module to help bring them up to speed with the goings on in the Mass Effect Universe.  I do have a problem with the PS3 getting exclusive content that I will not be able to access unless I go and drop nearly £300 on a console.

Now I never agreed with this exclusivity rubbish in the first place, I have always believed people should be able to play the games on the platform of THEIR choice (ah good old consumer choice something that has been lost on the software industry).  Now we have a situation where PC/360 users are being excluded from content which is every bit as wrong as when PS3 users were excluded from Mass Effect series.

So as a consumer I am faced with a stark choice, if I want to get the FULL story of Mass Effect I need to spend a further £300 on a console I do not have any interest in or I could just call it quits on the Mass Effect universe since I am obviously not going to get the full story.  Since we are in a recession I will go with the "call it quits" option, since I won't be able to play the FULL STORY I fail to see the point in me continuing with the Mass Effect series.

What you say is true.  If you decide to buy a game or DLC and later the game becomes cheaper or the DLC possible even free so be it. It happens. You could have waited but choose not to. Your choice.  But at the same time if one platform gets it included in their release and others don't. That isn't fair or right to do. If the PS3 gets the DLC included free no matter what the cost is for the game. Then the 360 and PC should get the same thing at what ever the price they cost. It isn't the same as buying something and then later finding out it has droped in price when one system gets one type of packaging and others do not.

Sweet, I'm down with that. :P Although it also comes off as somewhat of a challenge for me!! Maybe I'll try and wait a long while before buying ME3...hmmm...can't see it happening!

I think I'll just wait and see what comes of this 'news' before I start ranting.  It is rather silly to get all jittery and angry about something that we know next to nothing about.

On top of this we don't know what this exclusive 6-hour mission entails.  For all we know it's some horribly abridged version of a part of ME1, or it's a mission that's horribly tedious or boring for us.

I have NO issue with PS3 getting something exclusive.  Until now they haven't been able to even play the game at all.  Cut them some slack guys.

Some of the people on here are arguing and moaning about something small and it's getting out of hand. As a previous poster mentioned before, whenever a ps3 user asked if ME1 or ME2 was coming to their system they, myself included at the time, were condescendingly put down and told to "Go out and buy a gaming pc or XBox360". Now that PS3 users have missed out on a whole game and are finally getting ME2 with an interactive comic and 6 hours of new dlc people are freaking out? Come on now. Be reasonable and realize that missing out on a 6 hour or less dlc is not the end of the world, nor will it ever be. Calm down and everyone just breathe.

I'm waiting till next year to get the eventual Fallout New Vegas GOTY/Ultimate/whatever Edition on sale on Steam as I felt completely screwed over when they announced the Fallout 3 GOTY Edition, and I didn't even like Fallout 3.
And before anybody asks, New Vegas is by Obsidian so I'm pretty sure I'm going to like it as the writing will actually be good. :P
Either way, I'm waiting.

Who is moaning? Some people freak because of lack of info. Me I want to know what is going on before I react to it. I personally think it is fine that PS3 is getting into the ME series. Welcome. ME1 not making it on PS3 is a seperate issue. But as I have said, we all should no matter what platform we play on have the same content for the same games.

It just occurred to me that I could do a speed run of ME1 in 8 hours. You know, if I were speculate what a 6 hour DLC for PS3 would be...

Though I'm sure even if they cut out all the sidequests and left only the barebone Saren missions, it'd still be considered a port of ME1. Which I imagine the PS3 won't be getting unless Microsoft gets generous.

Am intrigued.

I don't mind the PS3 version getting the DLC included since it will be a year late to the party, and I don't mind them getting their ME1 intro comicy thing... but the idea of a 6 hour DLC being exclusive to them is annoying. If they get it free and PC and 360 players have to buy it, then that's fine with me too. But I don't like the idea of us not getting it at all. As long as I can get this content in some form for my PC version of the game, I'll be happy.

I am more than ok with the PS3 getting the DLC included if the do the same for everyone else. I think that would be great. If the interactive comic intro to Mass Effect is so good. I think bioware should release it for 360 and PC people that jumped right into ME2.

Microsoft only owns the original ME game. They wouldn't be able to stop a remake, or retelling.

I think you're missing the point. PS3 users dont have access to Mass effect 1 for their system and, by the looks of things, never will. So if the PC gamers and Xbox gamers are missing out on one little dlc in order to entice a whole new group of gamers I don't see a problem with that. If PS3 users have an interactive comic instead of ME1 than PC and
Xbox users can deal with a "missing"/added module by watching in on Youtube.

Having said that, I do agree that a whole game should be made available to every platform that it is on. When ME3 comes out all content should be made available to all systems it's on and have it be the end of this exclusivity crap.

Which is bull****. I'm gonna get it anyway, but if it's free for one platform, it should be free for all platforms.

People will pay almost full price of a year old game, they basically pay for it.

If at whatever they decide to charge for the PS3 version if they include all the dlc how would that be fair to some one who buys me2 new on the PC or 360 and has to pay for the dlc. Year old or not it would still be a new game to the PS3. DLC should not be given to one group for free and not to the others.
Still want to know more about this new mission thing.

its fair whoever buys ME2 now was just waiting for the price to drop, ME2 is $25 at my gamestop, so yeah its fiar, if the dlc was not in the PS3 version it would only be $40 new, Bioware has to put something in the game to bring the price back to $60.

I'm jusy pissed they are getting a exclusive dlc, Sony must pay well...I'm glad PS3 players can join the community and play Mass effect, and I am fine with the comic thing, it's only fair if they cant get ME1. But a six hour exclusive dlc for ps3? Apparently Bioware dosent much care for there loyal fans, on everything Bioware have done the last year Bioware just keep pissing me off more each time. Mass effect 2 was the most dissapointing game I have ever played, amazing overall game, but so much of it just pissed me off.
