Faery: Legends of Avalon

So I've been following this game for many months now and it's set for release this month.

It's a turn based rpg where Faeries take center stage.  I think it looks pretty great. It will be available through XBOX Live & Play station Network as well as on PC.

Oh yeah I've seen this it looks pretty interesting but I dunno the idea of an RPG on XBLA or PSN just doesn't sit well with me. I would be more interested if it was a full retail release.

I was a little worried too when I heard that they were releasing it through PSn & XBL..but I'm hoping it proves to be just one of those 'good games' you can find on there. I've downloaded a few different games through PSN and have really enjoyed them.  The idea of Faeries in a RPG is a great idea.

I have also been following this game for months now, (as you know XD) and very much looking forward to it. The moment I found out it was turn based, my eyes were glued to every news tidbit that popped up; although I was not always as vigilant as you, Norskatt.

My one complaint about this game based on our *very* limited information is the magic system looks too Final Fantasy. That is, spells seem to be based around the elements and healing. Faeries are reputed to have control over the elements ranging from limited to incredible depending on their power and status, but they are more famous for employing what is popularly known as faerie glamour, and I see no illusion-like stuff. Granted, this is a total nitpick on my part. I still want the game badly.

Unfortunately one of the devs on their forums replied to us today about release dates, and it looks like the Steam version is coming in 2011.

"Hello and welcome,

About the release date, Faery Legend of Avalon will be released on PC at the beginning of 2011.

Only Xbox live version will be released on November 10th, the Playstation Network version will be released on the beginning of December."

Another thing: this game is the first part of a planned series, and whether or not we see sequels is contingent on its success. I hope enough people download it for that to happen. On a side note: djinn romance = badass.

I love that it will have possible romances! Drake seems like he's going to be a bit like our mabari warhound in DA, which is awesome.
Gargamelle the cook is kind of funny. I instantly thought of Gargamel from the smurfs

I hope they make Drake out to be more than a pet, mainly because I find baby dragons too cool and adorable to be relegated into a pet role. I thought the same thing when seeing Gargamelle's page. XD So far I am most curious about the two romance characters though, not because they are romance options, but that I like their designs and real world mythology. Although the korrigan does not look much like how I would imagine one to be. It would be interesting if the romance with Amareta presents a conflict of interest considering where korrigan lovers usually end up. XD

Edit: I took French in my first year of college ages back. It was enough to navigate their menu, albeit barely. There is a setting to translate it all into English, but it only works *after* signing up. <_<

I used google to translate =P I wonder if her appearance will change by day/night like the mythology of the korrigan says. And yes, I'm not sure if I were a male if I'd want to get involved with her! XD It will be interesting to see the beastiary pages once they are put up. I've seen the screenshots they've released and some are some pretty cool.

Okay, go to the forums then click "connexion". It has a key icon next to it. Then click on the "inscription" button at the bottom. Then click "J'accepte ces conditions."



A list should pop up...



Where it says "Nom d’utilisateur" enter in your desired username. Then type in your email in the second line. Type it again for the third line. Next to "Mot de passe" type in your desired password, then again in the box next to "Confirmer le mot de passe". Under langue I recommend English. XD Next is time zone. Finally type what you see in the image box underneath and click the button. Then click "Envoyer" near the bottom. You will be sent a confirmation email.

Chris, from what I've read gameplay will be about 20 hours. But as far as cost, it's not been mentioned yet. Most titles on PSN aren't more than $20. So I'm guessing it will be about that or less even. Like Seagloom mentioned above, this is supposed to be the first game out of a series of games. I hope it does well enough (and is good enough) to get the sequels made.

@Chris - It costs $15 here and is supposed to last between ten and fifteen hours.

No idea, sorry. There are no specs available for the PC version at all yet. The one silver lining about a delayed release is I should have a new video card by then. I was worried about being under the requirements if it had released on Wednesday.

Five entries were added to the bestiary earlier. Four of these seem like boss entities based on their background significance to each area. The Baen-Sidhe is still my favorite, but I like the Ifrit too. Standard korrigans also look closer to what I expected.
