I'll definitely be getting this. I've really been hoping for some RPGish arcade titles. Actually, I picked up Tim Schafer's Costume Quest RPG game last week before Halloween. It was fun. A little short for the $15 price tag but I always like supporting Schafer.

This game looks to be even better and not as short. And my buddy's girlfriend will probably love it too.

On a side note: Seems like a couple people have a problem with arcade titles. Frankly, I've already found more interesting and fun games in the $5-$15 arcade range than full price titles I'd ever buy. They're worth it.

Despite the fact that whenever faeries are mentioned my first thought is to fetch the flyswatter and go squash the little blighters, I have to admit this game does look fairly interesting. I might just have to check it out when it's released on PC.

Probably also good that the console release comes first, that way you xbox and ps3 people can serve as guinea pigs and tell us PC people if it's worth getting!

Five entries were added to the bestiary earlier. Four of these seem like boss entities based on their background significance to each area. The Baen-Sidhe is still my favorite, but I like the Ifrit too. Standard korrigans also look closer to what I expected.

They all look pretty cool.  The Banshee had been shown previously but w/o the information they've now listed. I think the Dryad looks really cool.  It looks a lot scarier than your typical 'treant' in games. I agree that I think these listed are boss level. The Ifrit looks the hardest..maybe it's the description, I don't know. Just seems like he's going to be tough.

It's his rippling muscles. The Ifrit is tough by dint of being hawt... and hot. ;) Yeah, the story made me like her even more. The dryad left me feeling indifferent though. Maybe it's because it reminds me too much of shambling mounds from D&D. XD To think it's coming this Wednesday and I have to wait another two months minimum to play it. :/

Haha..It might very well be his rippling muscles! ;)

I know, that sucks. With my luck though it won't release in December on PSN. It will be like 'Return to Ostagar' on PS3 and I'll get it months after everyone else. :(

The game is officially available on the Xbox Live marketplace. Excuse me while I find a quiet corner to cry in. :crying: The PS3 version now has an ever so slightly clearly launch date of mid-December. The PC version is slated for the beginning of 2011. I will consider it a New Year's gift from me, to me. :P

A dev dropped by the forums to explain why: "The game is delayed on PC for different reasons, most of them are linked to Steam, and one other is that we tryed to have as good keyboard controls as on console, so it asked more work and time, as the game was firstly designed for the pad."

I demand welcome anyone who buys the 360 version today to share their impressions on FLoA. :) I am simply beside myself with curiosity.

Oh yes, please do!  I'm not that far ahead of you in terms of launch estimate Seagloom, so I'm dying to know what it's like as well!

Are they using the Gamebryo engine? It kinda looks like Divinity 2 to me.

I'm not sure what engine they're using. In their forums one of the admins state that "The game has been developped since the beginning on PS3 (it's not a conversion)"

It is not on any list I can find of Gamebryo engine games. If FLoA was rendered on that engine, no one has officially added it yet.

Well i've just played it for the last hour or so and it is quite good, not brilliant (but it was never going to be for £10) but good, the exploration is fairly simple and you can get around quickly because you can fly (obviously).

The combat is a very old school turn based JRPG kind of affair, with a basic attack, offensive magic attack, defensive magic and use item etc, as you level up you can upgrade different parts of you fairy i.e. wings, antenna etc, these seem to vary between offensive, support and defense, you can also add accesories to increase these effects, it appears you can have two companions at any given time, I have so far only found the first two but it appears you may find more later in the game (I just found a dragon egg which appears I will be able to hatch later to become a companion)

The story is pretty standard fantasy but with fairy's, something bad is happening and you have to sort it out, the dialogue is all in text and you converse by using a conversation wheel which is very much like mass effects, it even has a red and blue option sometimes which represent a good or bad response.

If you like fairy's this game will no doubt be a must have, it is definately worth a blast if you are not playing anything else at the moment. I wouldn't like to say much more without putting more time into it to be honest.

That was plenty, Ulous, thank you. :) Your description matches up to what a friend told me about it earlier. I am curious about the building system. Are you forced to mix and match abilities or can you build around a theme? Say for instance focusing purely on elemental fire or on defensive abilities?

For instance, can you only get a fire ability from wings or horns, or does every slot have options for different stuff? Mechanics tidbits on this game are scarce.

Thank you Ulous! It makes me really happy that it's not utter garbage. I have had high hopes for this game for a while now and I would have hated if it wasn't even worth a play :)

From what I could tell it was pretty much mix and match, but I was only lvl5 when I stopped playing for a bit, my gf is hogging the xbox at the mo with fable 3, i'll try and find out a bit more once I get back on it.

One other thing to mention is that the attacks are all action point based, as you level up you gain more action points, certain spells/attacks use different amounts of AP which also effected your amount of turns, for example you could use an attack all attack/spell that cost two AP but only have one turn, or have two turns with a one AP attack/spell, same applies to a single/group heal, just not sure how much that advances as the game goes on though.
