Since when is loving a fictional character not allowed? I don't mean actually loving him like loving a real person, but loving the character. Well-done characters will evoke emotions in you, be it in books, tv, movies or games. Have you never cried at something you read or saw? Laughed? Gotten angry?

Metal, how is you hating on him any different from someone else liking him? I swear, all this fuss over a fictional game character. I enjoy the game and have played through over 30 times but I still recognize that all the characters in it are just characters. Just because someone disagrees with you doesn't mean they have lost touch with reality.

However, I DO seriously question your mental state.

Edit:  I don't believe I've ever said that.  If pressed, I can argue points against Alistair as easily as for him.  I happen to love the character.  There is absolutely nothing wrong with that.  As for hugging him, I'm not literally doing that.

Though if I had an Alistair plushie, I totally would.  I like Bioware missing out on a great revenue generator there.

Well, it's equally as silly to LIKE a character for only doing what he's programmed to do. 

Games with companions always have people who like them, and people who hate them.  I doubt anyone actually is that far gone as to think he - or any other character - is a real person.

But hey, it's fun talking about companion characters in games - or books, or movies - we like, whether you love them or hate them.

I love a good debate.  Just pointing out you seemed to take it a bit personally that he doesn't allow you to make the US if he loves you and since you hate him, it's kind of a moot point that you will reach this scenario anyway, since you won't be triggering the romance anyway.  I was merely explaining why some people might actually have a different view of the same scenario.

Yeah but she's much more of a handful to deal with too.  It's a tradeoff.  Alistair might not be as awesome but he's a "safe" choice... which probably has a lot to do with his popularity.
