People able to see that other people are not perfect and are not supposed to be perfect. Considering the relationship between the warden and Duncan lasts about 5 minutes, it's hard to criticize Alistair overly for him becoming teary eyed about him considering that the warden shared nothing remotely the same with Duncan. For Alistair Duncan was basically his father. And I don't blame people for crying about the death of a member of their family or for a friend. For the warden Duncan was this guy who possibly forced you into the Grey Wardens.how does anyone not want to run a sword through him?
While leaving if you spare Loghain means that Alistair is not the best Grey Warden, it's not something I cannot see any rhyme or reason for.

I didn't know Zev also had a "still in love" flag. Do all the LIs have them?
Alistair and Morrigan do, and they're pivotal to their plots. I'm not sure why Zevran has one. It makes me think that there may have been something more planned, and who knows, there may be. But I doubt it.
Edit: Leliana does not get flagged "still in love." Zevran does if the breakup happens after he's in love.

You seem to have a real problem with physical appearance. Personally, I think your avatar picture makes you look like a timid little mouse, but it wouldn't make me hate you. And I think Loghain has one of the dumbest hairstyles in the game, but I think he's one of the most brilliantly written characters. *shrug*

Not as much as Loghain, let me tell you.
But they tend to overlap almost always.
In fact, I expect some Loghain debate to pop up here at any moment.
Once Loghain is mentioned I would expect the ladies to start debating about Morrigan or even the male players between Morrigan and Leliana and so on. Still I think forums are also made for these threads, the developers create such characters that threads of hating or loving the characters are obvious to appear.
At least I changed from hating Loghain to hate alistair and if it serves as a comment to start the debate, I always exceute Loghain, crimes must be punishable that's what adults know and face when it comes to carry on the choices made. Reasons? there could be many, excuses? yes there could also be plenty of those but for a crime there is a punishment.

Alistair never had an actual father. To subconsciously want a father figure when you've never had an actual father isn't wrong, it's probably natural.metalcraze33 wrote...

I want to see that Loghain visit! My HNM has been waiting for him, but I still haven't gotten him far enough into Awakening to trigger it.
@KoP
I just read this quote from about 10 months ago.
"Loghain was always meant to be a character that you could justifiably kill in the Landsmeet. That's pretty much what we expected players to do. He has unquestionably committed heinous crimes. You have every reason to kill him."

In my playthroughs the warden is always the one who kills Loghain but since I had planned to get rid of Loghain and alistair I let alistair to kill Loghain then put Anora to the throne. I found funny and curious that when I let alistair do the deed he said "For Duncan" even when Loghain betrayed Maric and Cailan...his father and step brother!!! and still this dude says Duncan!!! I thought: "Dude!!! this man betrayed your father and step brother, I know you didn't know them that well but they were your blood and it is because of that blood that you have a chance for the throne and a legacy and you go and mention Duncan!!!??" Morrigan called him a simpleton but I laughed when he said "for Duncan".
So yeah...he sees any older male or even wynne as a father and mother figure.

It is awesome, isn't it?
I wouldn't be exagerrating if I said that Loghain's cameo made my Awakening playthrough (especially the middle partt) more enjoyable.
And I personally thought his cameo revealed a lot about his character and how he is without the burden of leadership on his shoulders.

And that is what I've always argued, that there are plenty of reasons to kill him. And spare him.
However, I personally do not believe they are heinous crimes, that is the opinion of the writer which of course she and everyone else are entitled to have. "Heinous" becomes a subjective terminology that depends on our personal views. "Crimes", I can agree with as technically, they are illegal.
And since I am questioning them right now, they are not "unquestionable".
And I do not really care what the writers expect of me and I don't think anyone should. It's our characters and we have enough flexibility to design them, irrespective of what the writers expect.
But I do think that most people do kill Loghain, yes.

Ah. Well, I guess you would know more about the character than the man who created him. Very well. Carry on with your hatred.
You can argue that he could be biased because he wrote the character. Me personally, I loved Alistair. He was not some stereotypical male lead that followed your every move like a yes man, just like all characters. He was conveyed as a human being with emotions and a sense of humor. I was taken back when he was disgusted by the idea of letting Loghain be a Grey Warden, but after I thought about it I saw his point.

He told her leadership looked good on her, he even smiled. And with TMP's morph, which takes away the mule kicked black eyes he was quite handsome. I actually kind of have a fic in mind, but it would be impossibly A/U so I'll probably just leave it alone. But it's eerie how much Tess looks like him...lol

I loved Loghain's character. Everything about the character was great, I loved to hat him. But after killing him on my playthroughs I regreted it, and I plan to keep him alive in my next playthrough. But it feels just so wrong to backstab Alistair.

Yep varieties of OMG ALISTAIR IS SOOO WHINY threads where the OP whines then about it (tasty irony), who gave me a good lulz even months before this one. But there wasn't some for months, so I'm estatic for this new portion of lulz it gives me.
As for the Loghain debate, I'm surprised it hasn't happened yet.

Ok, I must find the time to dust off my old HNM and see that cameo. I guess I'll have to if I want to have Drunkenstair ready for DA2. I need to replay the end of my Cousland guy's origin game. I used a saved game post coronation, and ended up with Morrigan not recognizing a romance with him, so that's why I never finished Awakening.
And KoP, that's what I love so much about this game. The writers gave us a foundation that can be seen from so many different angles. You and I are looking at the same scene and seeing completely different things.

We have an Alistarian praising Loghain.
Times like this make me teary eyed...until someone inevitably ruins the moments and starts the hating.

Great!!! hating a character and commenting about it makes it all the better when you have e-popcorn!! Thank you thank you!!!
For Morrigan beautiful, independent, hardened, powerful determined I understand, for Leliana I didn't expect it but ok, for Sten he killed a family so well, but when he said: "You are taking the assassin now?!" I thought : "*sigh* oh man you really complain just about everything! can anyone give him a candy or cookie to shut this kid up?" that was on my very first playthrough after and that "nooo thank you for your services but you better stay at camp and take care of my dog I have treaties to call upon and a land to safe"
