I don't see anything wrong with companions having their own armor... I mean don't companions have a mind of their own and can figure out how to dress themselves without having papa or mama Hawke telling them what to wear?  Sometimes in DA:O it feels like I'm playing dress up with a doll action figure.

...phew, that was a close one.

The females anatomy finally evolved from DAO ape-ish anatomy to DA2 human anatomy. Never thought the DA team can accomplish such a monumental feat!

I don't see how having breasts the size of mountains fits.

Yeah... males should have big boobs too~

I've given up on asking for smaller boob sizes :crying:

The male archetype is already liberally there. Don't imply that it hasn't gone both ways. People just don't ever seem to have a negative view of the male archetype.

The men get beards of steel to compensate/balance the scale.

So basically we can still equip whatever weapons/rings/belts/amulets we want? It's only the outfits that are set.

I'm OK with that, there was nothing worse than seeing Morrigan in some green ugly ass long mage outfit in DA1.

The proportions of DAO women and having wide shoulders is more common than the new female model. Which...ugh.

Good god yes! She appears in that awesome witches thing just so that later you have to put her in those awful Tivinter horrors.

Unless Dude Hawke runs around with his shirt off and a glimmering six pack its not a fair comparison.

We're going off-topic but the Male archtype doesn't exploit the male, he's shown as strong and confident while the female archtype is shown as this object used for the manly man's manly sexual needs.

So...we can't put pants on Isabela.

If I've got it right, nope. But we can put shiney runes on top of her boots ^_^

So there is some companion customisation, plus the unique talent trees. Probably not as much as Origins allowed however.

there may yet be pants for isabela, remember that they said that you can have multiple outfits for the same character.

Very true, now we just to have to see if any of Isabela's outfits contain pants :wizard:

Overall I'm happy with this, if each companion has 3-4 outfits, that's already nearly as many looks as I had for my companions over the course of Origins, and they won't be boring generic one-fits-all armor. Leliana was in studded leather for the most of the game until I got my mitts on some sweet armor mods for her.

I dont think each companion has 3-4 different outfits though. I think they have 1 that you can upgrade the stats of.

That's because men find it appealing as well as women, as evidenced by games and movies like 300, God of War, Gears of War, and so on. Both models are meant to appeal to men.

It's totally fair. I'm sorry that women get so heavily sexualized and it bothers women who play the games, but Hawkes ripped arms and massive shoulders and chest is no less an idealization of the male image. It's a two way street.

Look at the above post. <_< It is not remotely the same thing.

Does Lady Hawke stand the same way Isabela does? I'd prefer her to strand straight up.

This is true. But it's still there. You think there aren't any flabby pastey complexioned men out there that feel as though they'll never live up to this image? Maybe there are some guys out there that would like to play a thin thoughtful and thoroughly non-physical mage character?
I mean just look at all the Isabela talk as well. Empowered, sexual and attractive women. There are things about her image that appeal to the female gamer. There's no need to blow "bigg boobs" out of proportion here. (I'm sorry, that was not intended to be the horrible pun that it obviously became) Am I mistaken in thinking that everyone wants to see some form of attractive? Are there many players out there that deliberately want to create an unattractive character?

I have to say Isabela looks very hot in that screenshot. I don't really mind the ME2 armour system, so long as we get a few different outfits..

That's the whole point. The male is portrayed as a hulking alpha male whereas the female is portrayed as a sultry vixen. They are both just as stereotyped even if they confer to different stereotypes.

Haven't listened yet, but it sounds (to me, at least) to be the best of both worlds. You get to customize your armor, and your companions get a unique look that helps define their character.

The biggest difference between the 'ideal' male and 'ideal' female is that the male form is possible in the real world (granted, it takes a metric ****tonload of work, but hey.) whereas females with perky J cups maintaining a perfectly flat stomach is physically impossible without body modification.

But that's looking into things a bit too far. I still T-down the oversexed females in a serious game.

If you guys want smaller boobs, I want a thin non-muscled male lead. I want a lanky bookworm mage nerd. Seriously. That's fair.

I don't see how it's the same, considering one idealizes the male while the other puts down the female.

That's sort of what I was thinking. The male body is realistic. The female one...not so much.

I agree. It's stupid that a lifetime nerd has the muscles of Mr. Olympia '88.
