The followers will keep their unique looks and have their own specific talents *braces for AMGDRAGONEFFECT forumsplosion*, but will have equippable accessories (belts, amulets, etc.) and weapons.

One thing I wasn't too clear on, listening to the podcast: Mike said the companions will change equipment at points throughout the game and get upgrades so they won't be stuck in starter gear for the whole game. Does this mean their equipment will also change visually? Or are they going to basically wear the same outfit for a decade? Clarification would be appreciated.

I have mixed feelings about the change but I'm basically okay with it because, for example, in Origins I generally kept Morrigan in her unique robes. And also, mismatched hand-me-down armor annoys me (I'm very visually-oriented).

Discuss (and please try to remain civil).

the way i heard it, followers will have multiple outfits that are in consistent with their theme instead of having just one outfit.

I'd always gimp myself to make sure everybody had their own armor and fit their character, for example I wouldn't remove Asala from Sten or Morrigan's robe. This makes me a lot more pleased as it makes every companion unique, I won't be gimped for keeping companions in their own unique way and with each companion having a unique model I won't have a Hawke that looks eerily similar to companions.

Add in multiple outfits and I'm a big fan of it, though I do miss the lack of customization (but honestly... leather armor to tanned leather armor isn't very customized).

One thing I am wondering about is the mention of "padding" and such. Now with enchantments those can be easily be invisible and such. But something like padding I wonder if it could potentially tweak a outfit. Not a whole new outfit but say have a new bracer, or new leggings, etc. So the outfit stays primarily the same but different from another player's version of that follower.

Overall I am quite happy with the change, I hated for instance changing Morrigan's robes to generic, boring mage robes because of better stats.

It's yet another step away from party based RPGs. That much is for certain.

Okay if that's the case I wholeheartedly embrace the change. Multiple in-character outfits that aren't just a color change please!

A plus: this system means your followers *can* have unique body types.

I'll have to see it in game, my opinion of it will depend on just how much stat tinkering I will be able to do without those extra item slots. I'm more concerned with the characters themselves getting ME2ed, as in no matter how you build them they are going to turn out exactly the same and play exactly the same at end game. What they look like I couldn't care less about, always having Isabella being locked into one weapon type (dual daggers) I find much more distasteful.

Do we upgrade companion armor at all? That was my complaint about ME2, not so much the visual aspect because the outfits were cool, but we had no control over outfitting them, no opportunity to make these type of decisions.

I have a sneaking suspicion that upgrading armor has some visual changes. Bela's outfit is the kind of simple that in my eyes invites some additions (and by that I don't mean pants.)

Well the way I understood it was that there is one outfit for each companion that you can upgrade/upgrades as time passes, that stays the same visually.

So while the stats may stay the same, Isabella will be the same visually all game for example.

I like the way nightcobra heard it better. I hope he is right.

seconded, even better if the outfits have exclusive upgrades between each of them.

also, i found it interesting that the followers may gain other outfits throughout the time skips giving them a sense that they moved on with their lives as well.

I like the new system, unique looks is a good thing in my eyes. As long as there are at least a few outfits per companion to choose from, as well as ways to add some personal flavor, like the mentioned "padding".

Weapons / rings / belts and such can be customized.

It looks like the daggers can be changed (seeing has how the equipment slot actually exists, anyway)

just like the one piece suit in her inventory (to maybe a different isabela only 1 piece)

Ohohohoho. So, Hawke has DAO-style armor while companions get several custom outfits. That's pretty cool. No more hunting down matching gloves and boots. (Yes, I'm the kind of person that kept Zevran in tier 4 armor until endgame because green leather looks cool).

Also, it is now official that Isabela is hot.

also looking at the GUI, isabela's outfit appears to be selectable.

How would that work anyway? Do they have tailors in the free-marches that makes magic shirts and clothing? And these are just laying around, because specific people, like Isabella, might run by and pic up a matching scarf, wich has been enchanted just for her. It would have to be specific for her right? Since you can`t equip any equipment specifically made for her, on other people.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I thought he said that you could choose which daggers you give her, she will always be DWing daggers though no matter what.  I knew I shouldn't have deleted it after I listened to it :P  Hopfully I'm wrong.

what i heard is that she isn't much of a bow girl so i think that means she already has some talents for dual wielding much like how leliana had some archery talents.

Just pretend you had it ordered. RP however you want, shops in RPGs have never exactly been so logical.
