There is a certain degree of suspension of disbelief required to play games I think.. Isabela running into battle topless is just about as believable as our characters getting bashed 10 times, and bashing the enemy 10 times, with swords/shields/hammers/axes etc. I won't disagree that this is a significant departure from previous Bioware RPG's (barring ME 2), but DA 2 is not throwing the baby out with the bath, unlike ME 2. BUT it is this, the inventory system, and not the art, which is generic. Be thankful we don't put up with "Lord of Warhammer : Reign of Cataclysm" or something that comes out once a year with more and more polish, followed by less and less story.

The inventory is still there. I also defy anyone who dislikes this change to say that PST was a terrible game because of its lack of inventory/character customization. You couldn't do anything but alter the stats of the Nameless One. edit : at the start of the game that is. Even then, was there ever Studded Leather + 5 for him?

As far as the cynical DLC route goes, it remains to be seen if they follow in the footsteps of my personal benchmark for cynical DLC releases, Mafia 2.

I haven't read enough of this thread, but exactly how many people actually LIKE this idea in comparison to those who DON'T like it?

I like it... it gives a certain personality to the character that just doesn't fit if they were wearing generic light armor tier 2 that 3 other party companions at camp are wearing.

ok...these mods and upgrades are they going to be as important and effective as armor/vestments/unique items?

I don't know, and I'm not really the person to comment on them.

You know if THAT is the case then......
a lot of people would stop complaining........

The hell you say.

trust me

Torment is the non plus ultra RPG for a lot of people complaining here

if that was the case (meaning accessories = boosts to improve armor/defense/stats/abilities comparable to armor and other equipment related buffs) then it would make this system very similar to Torment...and a lot of people would think twice before complaining so much about static outfits

as for ng+ it's ok I uhnderstand....tho.......if you guys could spare some comments in the future a lot of people would appreciate

"People" meaning the people who sit on these forums day-in and day-out? My point was that those exact people are the ones who are most biased one way or the other, and in the case of DA it's still people who are emotionally committed to DAO (and good on 'em-- I happen to like that game, too) and don't have a lot of attachment to DA2 just yet. Possibly they never will, but if they choose to remain on these forums and complain to Jinstar levels of bitterness that hardly makes their points any more valid, does it?

In other words, I'm not saying these arguments are invalid-- not in the least. But considering where they're originating, they're hardly surprising, either.

Stop giving me valid reasons to be this bitter Mr Gaider, and I won't be. Why don't you guys just be honest and say either you wanted DA2 to be alot like ME2 to "try that system out" or the new EA overlords chose that direction for you. Because thats seriously the vibe you folks seem to be giving me anyway, all the while reassuring people that its not "just like ME2".

Are they all that bad? I still have yet to be here long enough to form an opinion like that.

:blink:Eegh, hope I'm not in that roster. I haven't even made a full opinion on DA2 yet.

[EDIT: But then again, I am an open-minded skeptic. I don't know how that works out, being a living paradox...]

Yes, the intensely bitter and resentful state of total apathy. Very popular on internet forums, I hear.

Pause and play/tactics  is your friend Though I guess that style of play is difficult on the 360.

Dude what? If I listened to the podcast correctly, PST is what the DA 2 inventory system is modelled on. It's definitely not a carbon copy of it, but from the screenshots and what Mike said, it sure seems like it. PST and a bit more even, since looks evolve and you get to upgrade the bits n bobs. THAT is immediately ME 2 + the internet.
All further arguments should be invalid now.

We're talking about equipment-armor here or equipment-weapon, too? Because I'm with this feeling that Isabela's knife is here to stay.

Glorious PC gaming master race card?  A bit early to be playing that one.

we do not know that because we do not know HOW effective the accessories are...if they are as effective as PST then we are in business

What point are you trying to make?

Characters you control are PCs.  Characters you don't control are NPCs.

Which are the companions?

Not at all, just the way it's come across by some posts I've read that type of play didn't translate that well to the console versions of DA:O. Having not played the console versions, I took a guess that Collider played Origins on a 360 or PS3.

[Yes, I'm not friendly with them. 'Laughing Out Loud' and I got into an argument over what goes better on steak and I never used it because of those events.]
