Would you feel differently if the women characters had a strength cap in the game? Or how about men having a dexerity cap?

Oh no. Not this.

...It's like Brums posts about FemShepard not being able to be taken seriously or hit someone hard enough to knock them out all over again. <_<

Has it been brought up before?

In ME2 every character had a unique body model. I find that method to be ideal.

Then we have good reason to believe that F Hawke does not use Isabella's body as a mesh.

Yeah. Let's avoid going down the 'female characters shouldn't be as strong/male characters shouldn't be as dexterous' road. That way lies only madness.

Damn it Maria. I was trying to forget about the FF sized swords. >_>

I want my Lady Hawke to swing a sword taller than she is and for enemies to explode in fountains of gore when I kill them. Also, her armor should be massive. It should have spikes and skulls impales on those spike, and those skulls have flaming purple eyes and occasionally spew fire.

After mowing through a bajillion evilspawn, I want to go to my massive temple palace where thousands worship me in tears and scream my praises. After eating off plates of gold, drinking the finest wine, and swimming through a heated, marble swimming pool, I want to retire to my harem where I will proceed to have sex with the women there in a 30 minute long cutscene*.

I expect to see a crowd cheering me on while Lady Hawke does this.

That's my 'final fantasy.' I have no problem with this realistic stuff, but I'd like to see a game that utterly panders to me for once.

*Or it could be a game, whatever.

-btw...not saying that a large chest is a plus.

There are in fact a good number of RPG's that have rulesets like that, it never really made much sense to me in a fantasy setting though.  It's not like anyone male or female would be able to wield the 2handers in DA2 to begin with.

Gah. Do not want. I love JRPGs but DA2 doesn't look colorful enough for the ridculousness of the swords and attacks to fit.

Right, so which is why body type should not matter.

I'm pretty sure there's not a single Final Fantasy game that even comes close to that description.

To give you an idea of me as a person - I have never been able to play Gears of War or God of War because that testosterone filled monster is so offputting to me that I cannot even relate to it as a hero. I don't see it as "awesome" or "badass" as much as I see it as a little creepy. So maybe I'm just out to lunch on the standards of my gender, I don't know.

This is not why I hate what I'm seeing, though.  It's not just being able to relate to my PC.  In fact, that's not the issue at all, from my perspective.  It's that this is a deep story-based RPG but the females in the game are laughable in terms of being able to do what they're doing in game.  It's an element of Dragon Age becoming more of a cartoon rather than a gritty, serious low/dark fantasy story.  There were problems with the female model in DAO, but god, let's bring back the linebacker shoulders if this is our trade-off.  Please?

I find it interesting with men saying "WELL THE IMAGES OF US ARE IDEALIZED TOO!"

I'm a woman, my friends are all women, and unless we're all totally deviant, a big beefy burly guy like the default human male in most games is NOT what we find attractive. I like wiry, slender guys and so does almost every woman I know. The bulky, hulking hero of video games is not UNATTRACTIVE, neccessarily, but he's certainly not attractive.

Male models in video games are definitely idealized ... they're the idealization of what men think men should like look. And the women are what men think women should like like. Do you see the issue? Why not women that look like what women want and men who look like what men want? That sounds fair to me?

I play a LOT of WoW (yeah, yeah), and my friends and I always notice that in 12 races, 7 or so of the females have got it going on in a way that looks good to men, but only 1 looks nice to women. And even he's a little burly, and was actually beefed up from his alpha model where he was considerably more attractive.

I'm not saying that there's no issue with self esteem from men seeing these images of this beefy, built guys saving the world, but it IS a different issue. There IS a difference between men telling men what they should look like and men telling women what they should look like.

Now, if you feel insecure and objectified when you watch Romantic Comedies, THEN we have an issue.

Never said there was. DA2 also isn't going to fit that discription.

I'm trying to puzzle it out, but I don't see how it at all relates.

The women being presented in the game are not fighters, visually speaking.  The men are.  So are you saying that the ridiculous female body model should be accompanied by gimped stats?  Uh...  no.  That would basically mean no one would ever play a female PC or recruit a female NPC.  How about we bring the body model in line with the stats rather than the other way around.

TBH, "romantic comedies" have often gotten much worse reactions from me than any video game model.

Though...honestly were did the idea that most women were attracted to beefcakes come from? Bishounen and pretty boys are widely popular for a reason.Orlando Bloom and Johnny Depp are a lot more appealing to me than Van Diesel and...some other overly buff actor here.

I can't help you with the first part, but the last part sounds like the last 45 minutes of Conan the Barbarian. Epic.

I want my Epic Hawke to bear a ginormous sword that is thrust up into the sky with a beam of light from the tip to the very heavens.I want my shirt ripped with strategically placed dabs of blood that only accentuate my idealized curves. I want fur trimmed boots (NON NEGOTIABLE)

I want hawt, skimpily clad NPC dudes of every race clinging to my muscular legs in a literal body pile of yearning male damsel hood.

Because though I am a chick, I watched too much 80's fantasy and that is what I believe all heroes should be like. EVERY hero.

If you make me look like the side kick or the damsel chick, how can I be the hero, Bioware? HOW?!!

...I've never really watched romantic comedies. They're boring.

Anyways I want my dude Hawke to be fit not overly buff, or scrany but fit. I want him to have long wavy hair and wear no shirt, his pants should fit nicely over his ass and nothing should be left to the imagination. He should be extremely handsome and perfect and everyone in the cast should fall at his feet male and female. He should elude sex appeal that even Flemeth can't deny and should be able to sleep with every NPC in the game.

Then after he's had his fun he should be able to be all three classes at once and punch a mountain...into space!

Jane Austen is pretty funny, though. Or are we talking about movies?

Well, he said JRPG. And when it comes to ridiculousness...

Image IPB

That's the new design for Sauron's soldiers, as evidence by the One Ring emblem. /sarcasm

It's from Lost Odyssey. The game of ridiculous character designs.

Oh, you probably do. Romantic comedies are absolutely terrible :P And now you see how it feels playing a video game as a woman!
