So the answer to having forced bodies on us is to gimp our stats? :/

Now if we picked said body choice and recieved gimped stats in return I could understand. But...we didn't. The devs did.

Well that would be the realistic thing to do. As a side note, I think that body type choice was more attributed to what race you chose to be.

Again, im not against different body shapes, I just don't see how an argument can be made of it being more realistic, when there are other problems with realism.

Not really. Body choice was pretty much the same across the board. All female elves were identical in body, female humans, so on and so forth. There was no choice.

Which may have been a design desicion when cutting corners: If you want to play as a petite character choose a elf, if you want to play as a regular character choose a human, if you want to play as a short character pick a dwarf.

There's a difference between Petite and just short. A dwarves were stout not just short. And also did you forget the variety of endings based off your origin? It's not that simple.

Did you see how puny elfs were? How does it make any sense that they can be as strong as fully grown male, or even have equal strength stats to the beast that is Sten.

Yeah, that's what I was getting at. The game has zero realism. There is no realism. It's all just within peoples ability to suspend disbelief because nothing about it is at all realistic in the slightest.

Not criticisms. Realism is over rated.

So the argument that bodatious women fighters are unrealstic might be considered a little silly when considering these "other" problems with realism.

But women do exist in real life. And, in real life, those proportions are highly unrealistic and detract from the setting. DA was rooted in reality, the nature of that makes it grounding. It's more compelling because the fantastic elements are off-set by the realistic part.

This may not hurt your immersion, but it hurts mine. I said this: I see it and feel marginalized as a gamer. I see it and feel like my female characters are being undermined.

And I have to agree with the above.

Its stuff like that that causes me to play male characters. Which is not cool.

Though yay! FemHawke's boobs are covered by her armor!

Though...what if I want to play a mage? :(

Yep and yep.  Female mage playthrough, out the window.  So, like I said else-thread, forced to play least favorite race... least favorite class... least favorite gender...  *waves a tiny little yippee flag*

i'm sad that we can't please everyone all the time with this game. i mean, judging from the reactions some folks have, it's got to be possible, right? :P

I kind of steered this off the original argument. I was just trying to give a reason of why there may have been a lack of customizable body types.

Hey, I try to be mostly easy to please when it comes to style design and art.

(maybe you haven't noticed but some of the people around here are crazy :?)

Give us full body customization in future games and there won't be an issue. /shrugs

It was an excellent movie.

Err. I mean.. should've had more Clint Eastwood! And Bruce Willis!

I enjoy Westerns!

Mean Girls was how I solved the Cousland Racial Non-Congruence Issue.

"So if you're Fereldan... how come you're not white?"

"Maker's breath, Alistair, you can't just ask people why they're not white!"

(I realize this makes Alistair into Karen Smith. I don't care.)

(On-topic sidebar: You know, the story is being narrated by Varric, and judging by his height, I'd say he's a ****** man. So I suppose that's an Epileptic Trees explanation for the boobage.)

Dark short hair, bright blue eyes, nutella on cheek/nose, strong tough jaw. Not some "modeled after fragile looking tv starlet/model/actress".

Not bad. The skin tone also seems improved over DA:O. That might be the lighting.

Is that a vase strapped to her chest?

The answer to that is to make elves more realistically muscled, not to make the game even more farcical.

It's a barf-catcher for roller coasters.

Of course.  When the family fled from Lothering, they had to strap themselves with what valuables they could.

No one has figured out the purpose of the Hawke Cowcatcher yet.

It's actually a robo suit for an alien, that is its exit hatch.

As long as it's fun, fis the setting and they do not break the mechanics, I really don't mind what they do or don't to any of the looks. My interest in visuals is almost purely technical. Is it animated well? Is it in appealing proportion? Does it cause my eyes to bleed with the sheer beauty of the rendering? Beyond that I just want to find things attractive and I'm will to more or less accept what I'm given.

They had to add it due to Hawke's excessive drooling.

Well, okay, then, let me try something:

Preface: if you don't care or don't mind about the female models, then this isn't the question for you.

Men (and women), if you want the women to have the same model as Isabela and Bethany's model, why? The inverse isn't that they all must look flat-chested or body-builders. An average, normal figure a la Shepard would be the middle ground. Or even Miranda's body. And this is opposed to liking either, too. This is about you specifically gunning for this model over a more average one.

I don't mean that judgmentally; I mean, really, what are your reasons? Answer! For science!

Only console Hawke drools. For PC Hawke the purpose is to catch the pure awesome that comes from his/her mouth and sell it for major profit.

I kind of want one so I can put books there while I read.

It could serve two purposes.

It's a stylistic element.

It can deflect sword blows so that they miss specific parts of the body.

In the game mechanics mostly likely it does nothing except that the artist thought it looked cool.
