Not bad. The skin tone also seems improved over DA:O. That might be the lighting.
Is that a vase strapped to her chest?

No one has figured out the purpose of the Hawke Cowcatcher yet.

a map holder so she doesn´t have to ask for directions? :wizard:

It's obviously a book holder containing the "how to be a champion for dummies" reference book

I thought it looked like a book holder, so she could read codex entries while hacking bad guys to bits.

As for the female body model seen for DA2, I don't know.  I didn't major in sociology so I don't know anything about all this marketing trend stuff and socially created images of idealized beauty and perfection.

From a practical stand point the game is limited to only so many body structures that true realism is pretty much out of the question (until someone can come up with a good enough engine to support a massive amount of variability from one character model to the next and is adaptive enough to deal with those variablilties and apply it to clothing/armor/animations etc.).  As for the default model in DA2, how would you develope a more average model versus a more idealized one?  I would guess taking a bunch of pictures of people and averaging all their dimensions.  Or something.  Ah wells, there goes my brain rambling off again.

The answer to that is to make elves more realistically muscled, not to make the game even more farcical.

As long as it's fun, fis the setting and they do not break the mechanics, I really don't mind what they do or don't to any of the looks. My interest in visuals is almost purely technical. Is it animated well? Is it in appealing proportion? Does it cause my eyes to bleed with the sheer beauty of the rendering? Beyond that I just want to find things attractive and I'm will to more or less accept what I'm given.

I think "appealing proportion" is exactly what we're talking about here.

Maybe replace "appealing" with "not thoroughly unattractive?"

Of course.  When the family fled from Lothering, they had to strap themselves with what valuables they could.

I once heard of a Dev who could fit herself inside a IKEA vase..perhaps it's an inside joke?

Hawke borrowed it from Isaac Clarke:

It strikes me as a stylized form of neckguard. It certainly seems to have some kind of use.

But its so low on his chest, I can't see there being a practical use for it.

Completely un-DA2 related but doesn't that house his holographic display thingy?

So I guess in DA2, its how Hawke see's her HUD and GUI?  :P

Hawyle is not that bright, and doesn't understand what a neckguard is supposed to do?

Imagine a darkspawn got close and grabbed you, and is now trying to bite you.

That neckguard thing will keep those nasty teeth at bay because it will keep their chest a good foot from yours.

...or it's a Kangaroo pouch.

...but that would mean...

Or maybe this is your real problem with more average body types, hmmmm, men? Less cleavage an issue for you, hmmmmmm?

Why stop at body size? In order to be fair shouldnt we want the characters to be average looking at best? Maybe a few ugly ones as well? None of them should be beautiful. Little acne, some bad hair cuts, or bad teeth too?

Since we're talking about textures in here, I was wondering if the dev team could shed any light on how they plan to handle textures in the PC version? Will there be a proper ultra-HQ set of textures for powerful PCs using 1920x1080 resolutions and above or will it be like ME2 where all we get is the maximum textures that could be fitted into the 360's 720p build? In ME2 it was especially jarring because at higher resolutions 90% of the body textures turned into a low-res blurry thing :(

Funny you should mention teeth...anyway.

Facial features are up to character customization. You want an ugly character? Make an ugly character. I wouldn't really have a problem if there were a variety of bodies in Thedas. There are not. Ugly people are not going to be uncommon, nor are plain people.

I second this inquiry.
