P.S. How do you know that DA2 will be shorter? Did a developer say that or is that just a guess.

It said to be shorter than Origins, longer than Awakening. Though that shouldn't be surprising since it hasn't been made for half a decade.

And yet the game is supposed to take place over a decade....:pinched:

They've said it will be ME2 in length, and going by BioWare's own statistics they released on ME2 a while back the avreage time to completion of ME2 was only 33 hours.

Wait...they're going to cover 10 years in 33 hours? :?

Yup.

I support the changes i've heard of, might make it more dramatic. I'm not judging until I see non-turn based gameplay though.
I just hope they don't do what they did with DA: O and try to act really tryhard dark to cover up the squareness of the game.

Thus proving that not even Bioware can save Sonic.

Okay...I want to see how it turns out. Random time skips where I end up not knowing wtf is going on will ****** me off if they occur. <_<

It was considered bad?  I just thought it was considered a decent game.... as in nothing special, but enjoyable?  I dunno much about it to be honest though, didn't buy it or have interest in it(sonic was/is dead to me after the SA2).

Pretty much--a lot of people hate it on impulse of it being a Sonic game. Including me. I don't exactly consider the Sonic game a part of their resume. The way I see it, they're the Pixar of video games, with no failures, but a few that simply stood out as not being fantastic. What Neverwinter Nights is to BioWare, Cars is to Pixar. What Bug's Life is to Pixar, Jade Empire is to BioWare.

In my humble opinion.

Not unreservedly. Blanket criticism or support seems odd to me, especially given we know so little compared to what we'll know after we've played it.

It's not like Bioware devs are PMing me asking me what I would do for every change and then listening to my feedback.  Then I'd make a thread just like this!  Otherwise... yeah, I'm going to evaluate the changes on a case by case basis.

I just realized something...in the demo the shot becomes one of rogue Hawke all of a sudden having a 2HD sword. Please don't tell me this is going to be like Mass Effect where Shep uses the same weapon regardless of your class in cut scenes regardless of if he can actually *use* the weapon?

Nope! Every class has their own 'weapon use' animations and we're making darn sure to use conditional actors so that mage Hawke will do something different than rogue Hawke will do something different than warrior Hawke.

Thank you! <3

Awesome! So there's a chance that in a scene Mage! Hawke will cast a spell while 2HD warrior Hawke will charge the enemy? Sweet.

That was one of my only issues with ME cutscenes. It always assumed I was a soldier.

Precisely! If you're a Mage, you'll do something awesome and Mage-like. If you're a Warrior, you'll do something Warrior-like. We try to avoid too many scenes where we have to make these distinctions, simply because recreating the same scene three times with different animations on both the player and whoever the player is acting on is a lot of work - but when they happen, we make sure that you're doing something that your class would suggest you'd do.

Sounds great! I'm looking forward to seeing that. And yes that does sound like a lot of work if it happens too many times. All the more to love the times it does happen. :wizard:

Does the same apply for your companions? Or will they just stand around? I'm guess not because in the trailer we saw Isabela throw a dagger but that might have just been one scene.

Dragon Effect 2: Rise of the Hawke.

I'm excited for the game, and all but if I wanted to play ME2 I'd play ME2. Be nice to see the different franchises remain distinct from each other in some ways.

I would be SO EAGERLY looking forward to this game if I hadn't made the mistake of watching various sneak peak videos and listening to depressing drivel about modest duration, hot rods and various simplifications.

If and when I decide to dislike Dragon Age II, it will be after playing it. Until then, I like most of the changes, and the ones I might not are not deal breaking to me.

You also support DA2 being much shorter than DAO ?

Where has it been stated that it will be "much" shorter? From what I heard it was going to be between the length of Awakenings and Origins. So between 20-50 hours of gameplay for a playthrough. 30-40 hours is pretty long for a modern game.

If the PLOT is longer and the ENORMOUS PLETHORA of SCAVENGER HUNTING is cut out, it could still be a "shorter" game and much, much better.

I never, ever want to see a quest like that "find ten garnets" quest AGAIN.  I had to hang on to every garnet I got, EVER, just to finish that one quest!

Anyway, all the stated changes, improvements, and differences actually sound like things I will like, so I am enthusiastic.  I just hope this time we'll be able to romance the Sten replacement, whoever he is.  The Alistair characters have become increasingly annoying to me--they seem increasingly juvenile and being a terrible romantic myself I like the romance characters to be someone I actually, y'know, LIKE.

I support SOME of the changes. This nonsense about restricting companion equipment though, it's as if Bioware is just trolling. I mean, surely they were aware that no one liked that in Mass Effect 2.

I did. It makes the characters much more aesthetically pleasing to the eye. They're all more recognizable for it, and that's always a good thing. That said, I haven't heard anything I've disliked about DA2. I'm glad they're keeping some things that worked in DA:O, and aren't afraid to borrow some good ideas from ME and try some things completely new.

I'd like to see some solid evidence for that, not to mention some solid evidence that 'everyone liked' what they did for Dragon Age.

Well a majority is more than 50% right?

I have no hard evidence but this poll with more than a thousand votes is kind of more on the "armor please!" side of the spectrum. http://social.biowar...832/polls/1803/

Frankly I'd have no problem with clothing when walking around and the like in cities but if we're going into a darkspawn/monster infested area I'd expected people to be wearing something that could...you know protect them?

**************************MASS EFFECT 2 SPOILERS AHEAD*********************
I think people need to stop looking at all these new changes through mass effect goggles. I myself was worried about the voice acted protaganist because
i thought it was done poorly in mass effect. In mass effect your choices were very vauge in the dialouge wheel and were not properly explained most of the time. They also fell into three boring unambigous types. Good at the top, Neutral in the middle and **** at the bottom. I for one thought this greatly detracted from a great, engaging plot(One that i liked better than dragon age) and otherwise very well written dialouge and compelling scenarios. This won't be the case in dragon age 2. There will be no good, bad meter. There will be no black and white labled for you choices. Icons in the DIALOUGE(Choises like whether or not blowing up the reaper base or revealing talis fathers crimes will not be labeled) wheel indicate tone so you won't find yourself doing something ridiculously suprising and out of character. Just because some things sucked in mass effect dosen't mean they will suck in DA2. I do outright hate the new art style though. You can improve the graphics without a crappy new art style thank you very much!( MY OPINION, BIOWARE OWES ME NOTHING)
