She ceases to exist in a puff of logic.

So what if that happens while she's wearing the Belt of Hindsight?  Can Hawke equip it and be resistant/immune to logic?
"Your semantic arguments have no effect on me!"

Did anyone look at the very bottom of the dictionary page?

You mean the part where you confuse the concepts of etymology and definition?  Again?

I'm too busy imagining powerful emotional cutscene at the moment. "Noooooo Isabela you must live, liiiiiiive. Bang on your shields, everyone, if you believe in swashbucklers, bang on your shields!"

YOu mean the bit that says this?

swashbuckler
1560, "blustering, swaggering fighting man" (earlier simply swash , 1549), from swash  "fall of a blow" (see swash) + buckler "shield." The original sense seems to have been "one who makes menacing noises by striking his or an opponent's shield." Swashbuckling  (adj.) is attested from 1693.

You know in AD&D there used to be a horrible monster that sucked all the fun and enjoyment out of a player worse than a mind flayer, it was called a rules lawyer.

This thread quickly reduced to arguing semantics. :D

I believe this is known as being "kirked" to death.

This thread started out arguing semantics

Reduced to?  Seems that's where it started.

Good thing this isn't the 16th century or Mary Kirby would have egg all over her face with that one, then. Meanings change all the time. This thread could hardly be more pointless.

What Mary and I said doesn't contradict one another at all.

Pirates don't tend to carry shields or wear armor because the chances of them ending up swimming unexpectedly are high. I think even a wooden shield would impede one's ability to swim.

Doesn't wood float?  Seems handy if you should find yourself overboard unexpectedly.

You know what else floats: bread, apples, and very small rocks.

And witches. So one assumes Isabella is a witch and... can't use buckler since it will hamper her ability to swim.. And she weights as a duck (hence all those crazy jumps).

I suppose swashing someone else's buckler would be basically taunting them and swashing one's own buckler would be akin to a gorilla beating its chest. Isabela is not a gorilla, hence, no buckler. Foolproof logic.

To complain about others having a conversation of which you don't approve despite your own tendencies toward lengthy, pointless, and pedantic discussions.

You are confusing a simile with a fact. You logic has been fooled with:blink:

Don't be ridiculous, if she was a gorilla she would be covered in fur.

There's perhaps tragic backstory behind it. Maybe even companion quest where you strive to restore Isabela's appearance or help her deal with her new, furless look.

On second thought, if Isabela beats her chest rather than a buckler, who's going to object to that?

You know, that's a good point.

Still though, it's impossible to beat one's chest and beat a buckler at the same time, so she could only be a bucklerless gorilla.

I can beat both my chest and a buckler at the same time, depending on where the buckler is located.

It's a fantasy game, so expect some fantasy gorillas. Also, since Isabella is technically a gorilla her romance is basically zoophilia. Romance options are more varied this time, yay!

Come on, now you're just being ridiculous. She's not a swash-chest-and-buckler, now, is she?
