I recently purchased the Baldur's Gate 4 in 1 and while BG is a great game and surprisingly playable for being so ancient, it has an annoying problem: Black squares around items, butterflies, and birds.

I Googled around, found a few fixes, one concerning a processor affinity. That didn't work because it was already assigned to one processor. Then I found one that had a recommendation for downloading DirectX SDK (since I have Vista) and turning off hardware acceleration. Guess what? That didn't work either. I still have black squares, and I do not even want to consider 16-bit ugliness since I have a very huge screen.

So what do I do? How do I get rid of these stupid black squares.

As mention, I have Vista. My specs are AMD Phenom x4 9750 Quad-Core, 8GB RAM, NVidia GeForce 95 GS.

Image IPB Well I feel foolish. The fellow who had the blog with the SDK solution explained that I was using the wrong control panel (since it has two, one 32 bit and the other 64). So yeah... 32 bit it is then.
