Ghosts, vampires, or a certain phobia? What makes your heart thump in your chest in the middle of the night. What can make you so scared that you won't sleep? What are you most scared of and why?

Sometimes I trek to remote, mountainous areas, the kind where if you see any litter at all it's a rusted out can of pepsi from the 70's. And at night, just as I begin to drift asleep, I hear soft but heavy foot steps outside my tent. Maybe twenty feet away. I ask myself: are those steps in a pattern of two, or four? Because four would be bad.

Spiders do creep me out, but they don't keep me up at nights. It's really silly being they squish so easily.

The economy keeps me up at night...............................

First and foremost: Heights. I can't deal with it. 5 ft. off the ground feels like 15 to me ... I get all shaky and feel sick. Ugh, I hate it.

Also, because I have recurring nightmares on these things: Bears (A fear has been growing over the years. I know what they can do, and *up north, where I camp* they're around constantly. I've had one sort of "charge" *it growled and motioned forward in a jerky motion* before, and since then I'm just done with it. Never again *this was years ago*)

Also: zombies, raptors, or zombie raptors. I always have nightmares about these two things. Constantly. And those dreams usually end in my death. (It's weird, I switch to some weird 3rd person view and watch myself die ... my brain is weird). It's this feeling of being hunted that's so terrifying. (The last one I had were zombie raptors. It made no sense, so when I woke up I was more confused than the usual freaking out.)

Nightmares are the best horror movies you'll ever get.

And of course my family or friends getting hurt. That's one of the scariest things to experience (if not the most, is for me anyway). (Had nightmares about that too, as others probably have I expect).

Bears scare me too, but I still hike in places they don't frequent. Hell, I've been in places they do frequent.

Another scare I had was when I was hiking alone on an overcast day and I caught sight of something halfway up a tree, lithe and deep in the shadows. I fumbled at my pack to retrieve my binoculars, as it was only about 60 feet away and I really needed to know what it was. Then I envisioned two great big yellow cat eyes looking back at me and I figured it was best to keep moving. Maybe it wasn't a mountain lion but it scared the hell out of me.

Heights. A lot of bad memories about them.

Also...cockroaches. Seriously. I can't stand those f***ing bugs.

Heights and driving on ice; both come from same incident.

Moving; hate to pack and clean, then clean and unpack. Not really a fear, but it really upsets my life, as it becomes all but impossible to locate things.

Evil supermodels; they are SO clingy and needy, and hate to eat.... *bazinga*

Seeing a lot of people with a fear of heights in here. Weird. Guess it just seems strange to me because I love flying. Want to get my pilot's license so bad, but can't afford it..

As for my fear.. Can't say I really have one, or at least not one I can think of. As of late, I've developed a fear of stupid people because it seems they are taking over the world in a zombie-like, idiot-based apocalypse.. You should always fear stupid people in large numbers lol.

Scared as in "ooo, that's scary", or scared as in "abhorrent to the point of inspiring in you an intense and obsessive pathological need to avoid it"?

And are we talking physical sources alone, or also getting into the heady ontological stuff?

Flying is different, at least for me. I have been up several times, but the ground below bacomes abstract like a quilt. Fear of heights is more like when I peer downward from a 9 story building, and imagine my glasses begin to tumble and fall. I even became a bit uneasy at the Ostagar bridge during DAO the first couple of times.

Heights too, but not all of them. Unprotected heights. I had no problem going on the Eiffel Tower or the thing in Münich for example, however a mountain kills me. Especially the Mangart... I mean, there is a road, a car road all the way to the most high point of the mountain. The road itself is incredible, how it's built (it was made after the WW so it's quite oldish) but the falls creep the crap out of me :P

Heights, specially the mountains and roofs. I may grasp the ground or a column like a scared cat!

Also nasty beetles and maybe Walking lonely in a dark Forest.

Spiders. Even the little non-venomous ones terrify me. <_<

Also, leeches. Not as scary as spiders, but if one ever lodged into me and started to suck my blood, I don't know what I'd do.

Hornets. You can protect yourself from other insects, but when a hornet nest is near, you better get a flamethrower, or bail out.

Christian conservatives I mean shadows. Shadows can really play a trick on you. But most of all, really loud noises.
