This keeps happening. I'm working on a map and then for some reason the squares start freaking out. In this instance, I can't change the texture on certain seemingly random squares with my brush:

I can draw all over them and nothing changes.

In other instances textures simply leap over to fill in squares. I'll be working on one side of the map and realize later that somehow the texture migrated over somewhere I wasn't even near and filled in a box. Frustrating to say the least.

Tried closing and reopening the map, then the entire toolset with no effect. I'm somewhat stuck, it just won't let me alter it. Combined with the frequent crashes I'm about fed up with this toolset before completing a single area.

Check that you haven't maxed out the number of textures in the squares that you are having trouble painting on. For the squares filling in another part of the area, check that you have not highlighted one of the existing textures in a selected terrain square before changing textures to paint elsewhere as this will swap them out.

Only toolset texture bug I have noticed is the black textures that sometimes occur after texture swapping. This requires a toolset restart to remedy.

Looking at all those shiny little icons you have there makes me suspect you have windows 7?

If that is the case then you may have a driver issue. There are few threads on runnig the toolset in 7, check those out if this is the case

Ok, good, it seems to have been an issue of too many textures per square. I wasn't aware of any limitations in that regard, I didn't even realize I had used so many. Thanks.

I'm going to dump some of these plugins too, the crashes are just out of hand.

The texture limit is 6. Water counts as one of those, so you can have 5 + water, or 6.

Heh that's a good ending.

Does not look like you have so many textures there. Have you pianted the water across the whole map?

If so delete it from the land area and save yourself a texture you may need later. 6 can be a bit limiting.

Nice map BTW is it a peninsula?

Are you sure? I guess I'd have to check, but I seem to recall having 6 textures+water.

I thought it was, have not played with it to find out though.

Yeah, it's got six in some of these areas, it's no big deal... just got to work around it and not get so detail OCD. It's the end of a peninsula, yes. It's going to be a new Cleaven fortress built upon the ruins of an abandoned monastery, Cleaven being one of the two opposing player factions.

Sounds cool and looks good if this is your first area.

Colour works well when you are low on texture options, Particulalry greys, mid browns and greens. Though I find green hard to use and get right. Grey puts depth into a single texture, or knocks back the bright ones nicely.
