Also, how do you show images? I really don't know what command to run.

May have something to do with PCs being able to show the same game at wildly different resolutions. If the interface isn't scaled up much, on higher resolutions you're bound to wind up with more space since they have to design things for the smallest available resolution first and foremost.Brockololly wrote...
Seriously though, those screens are from the PC correct? On the inventory screen, why is everything so scrunched up in the middle of the screen?
It just seems very empty, especially around the edges?

Not to derail the thread, but why are
Hawke's Health and Stamina levels (assuming that's what I'm seeing) both
equal? Do they use the same stat now or something?
They probably invested no stats in anything. That's why your defence is zero, for example.

Hrmppphh....why can't consoles get a dedicated console interface and PC's get a dedicated PC interface?<_<
Because BioWare hates you and wants all aspects of the game to be horrible for as many users as possible.

Heheh, yeah. You're probably right. I'm kind off embarrassed I missed that.

If what the images show will turn out to be a final PC UI someone from Bioware must have gone insane. Could a dev explain to me why - as it was claimed some time ago - that DA2 is being made SEPARATELY for the PC and the consoles are PC gamers getting a heavily-modified console interface? Thanks in advance for your honesty. To me, this is another evidence of the PC version being under a strong influence of its console counterparts and that it essentially is a port. The PC version of DA2 definitely lies on console fundaments like ME2. Try proving me wrong Bioware.
Sure!
Quick bar across the bottom: PC only.
Little icons on the side to quickly leap into your journal or character sheet: PC only.
Floating tooltips that give you information about items without having to dig into a new window: PC only.
Talent trees being the shape they are: represents the way the talent system works. Happens to be easy to navigate with a console stick, but is even EASIER to navigate with a mouse.
Cleaner interface design: Art direction decision that has nothing, at all, to do with the platform.

customizable quick bar like in Origins?
Ayup. So long as you're playing on PC. Console players have the same battle menu / radial menu interface they had in Origins.

I don't know if I should be happy or not. I hated using abilities in the radial but I can see worse alternatives.

It seems that you can have commonly used abilties assigned to gamepad buttons though, unless that was in DAO too?Dave of Canada wrote...

That was in DA:O, yes.
Functionally, the GUIs are pretty much identical, compared platform to platform. They just look different.

Yeah, though six slots for everything is limiting.

I shall pass that on to the people responsible!
And note for posterity that this day was the day we proved that one man's "have they gone insane?" is another man's "Oh hell yes!"

You should tell them the GUI sucks and needs to be redesigned from the ground up in 2 weeks.

But we've (PC) still got keyboard hotkeys to access all that too, right?Mike Laidlaw wrote...

I know the friendship/rivalry /approval system is tweaked since Origins, but I know that with Origins on the PC if you hovered over the approval bar it would show your relative status like "neutral," "hostile," "warm," "care," "love" and so forth- is that present still?Mike Laidlaw wrote...

Is that still a work in progress though or is that look more or less what it'll look like in the final version, at least art wise?I thought I remembered maybe Darrah or Goldman mentioning in one of the early interviews that they wanted the interface and such to be more stylistic going along with the tapestry feel of the 2D cutscenes? I don't mind that its a bit cleaner, but as others said, it looks a bit sterile and sparse and out of place compared to the more immersive ragtag journal approach to the interface in DAO, which fit the whole "dark heroic fantasy" vibe. Just my 2 cents=]Mike Laidlaw wrote...

I know I'm greedy but I've been playing some wonderful old pc games lately and they have customizable ui's, customizable hotkeys, etc.
In origins it was so nice to just hit 1-4 on the keyboard for the dialog responses.
