Maybe some templars are less merciful than others.

Yea, hence why not ALL Templars are evil.filaminstrel wrote...
I thought from the conversations with Anders that templars usually DON'T kill apostates, it's just maleficarum specifically that they show no mercy. Hence Anders escaping like 50 times and simply being recaptured, not killed. (until the point where they thought he might escape permanently)
Maybe some templars are less merciful than others.
Some abuse their power and immediately kill a apostate. Some don't.
Are the tales of Flemeth true? More tales sent through the Chantry/Templars? So the populace believes the legends of Flemeth since the Templars say so, which are likely vastly exaggerated as tales do over time.
I think Cassandra is a rival. Later you will have to make a decision on whether she is your friend or enemy. That is how I see it, IMO.

As a RL lesbian I can confirm that all lesbians are, indeed, insane. Quite a few of us evil too.
On the topic, though, I'd really like it (and I have a hunch this will be happening) if BioWare sticked to their 'mortals are never truly good or evil' philosophy they used fro DA:O.

I doubt Howe was a puppet.

Kinda off-topic but I'm kinda hoping with Hawke and his sister being apostates, this will be heavily stretched through the game in which Hawke discovers the Chantry legends in deceiving people. I'm really hoping they go that route. But I was really happy my main character as a apostate. I always wondered about this very issue in DA:O with the entire apostate, Chantry, Templar thing. I'm really intrigued. Hope they don't disappoint. Can't wait to play it...
To quote... someone official (I think Mike Laidlaw), from one of the podcasts:
"Hawke's mother was an apostate. Hawke's sister, Bethany, is an apostate too. If Hawke is a mage, he, too, is an apostate."
So apostate fun to be had by all!

Hawke's mother isn't an apostate, it's Hawke's father. Hawke's mother is just a mage-heavy bloodline.

You could ally with Loghain in the end. He still allowed the elves to be enslaved, house Cousland to be destroyed, murdered his king and the son of his (once) best friend and the woman he loved, and let the darkspawn rampage through Thedas.
Ally != Good person
I don't specifically recall Loghain having a hand in the Cousland massacre. I thought that was all Arl Howe and Loghain just didn't bother to care on things that has already been done.
There's theories about debating whether or not Loghain was Howe's puppet.

I could be mistaken. Either way, one of his parents and his sister is an apostate, and so will he be, if he's a mage.

I actually only play gay trucker men on TV.
On a serious note, though, adding 'RL' is a bad habit I picked up after the umpteenth "I'm a lesbian" "In RL?" "Yes... In RL" conversation I had over the years.

I find straight women attractive even though they're not interested in me. Heck, there are many gay and bisexual women who have no use for me, madness though it may be, and I still think they're hot.
