And 1000% more needless animosity. It is going to be a mindless action RPG, after all.

Damnit, Dave.

Wait.

If we lost 75% of loot, how are we supposed to make that 100+ sovereigns to buy that uber item from that one merchant? Are we going to start whoring ourselves to the Pearl to make money now? Oh the indignity!

I still don't want them to reach ME2 levels of nothing but conveniently placed effective loot.

I could care less if they sell armor and weapon DLCs. For once DA2 will be moddable, since DA:O was moddable too (doesn't even matter if they make a new toolset, I am sure the old won't go useless out of a sudden) and even in ME2 I didn't buy armor or weapon DLCs. I didn't have to and I didn't lose any plot detail over it either. Let Bioware milk people who pay 7 dollars for a bigger sword, obviously these people don't mind it anyway.

Well the loot in DAO was worthless and a waste of time so I welcome this. As long has we have at least 3 times more items then ME1.

It's been said a few companions change clothing. I heavily doubt he'd remain in normal clothing the entire game.

Carver wears his dog cone and vest because he likes them and they reflect his personality. How dare you people suggest that he could change these for something else. That would entirely ruin any concept of him being unique individual.

75% of the loot in DAO was crap. Oh look, a standard dagger from a locked chest!

Are you sure? I would not say 75% of the loot was crap in DAO - more like 90% of the loot is crap. Why cant they just drop money instead. I sorta feel like a janitor - I need to carry those junk so that I can make some money, if I dont pick up those junk, I will lose quite a bit of money <_<

Not many pieces/sets of equipment in DAO are actually useful besides carrying them to a pawn shop. Hope mobs will drop more money instead of junk so I can go buy what i want. Less loot in DA2, well if all they take away are the junk, I would welcome that change.

p/s: And most shopkeepers in DAO are robbers! They buy at a ridiculously low price after I play donkey and carry all those junk up from the Deeproads.

I know that Bioware said we won't be able to change companion outfits AkA masseffect, this means that their won't be as much items as their in DAO, you will have some items prop up some now and then, like ME2 but overall you will just be doing static killing, no loot. Due to this, I am 100% sure bioware will release "outfit" DLCs. Characters that keep wearing the same outfit over the years, no visual change at all, no toolset will be released since we won't be able to customize our companions as we like except for a few trinkets that gives some stats. So say bye bye to the dedicated modding community to make way for bioware to shove outfit DLCs down our throats.

Cool story bro

So do you like tell yourself this every night before crying yourself to sleep?

Firstly, 75% less items is great! No more stupid deep mushrooms and other stuff I don't use because Herbalism is a rubbish skill, as well as those rubbish low level darkspawn weapons.

Some day the "full game" will come in episodic DLC's or you buy the base hero and buy the companions when you want to use them. Overall quality of finished games and content will go down because of "ongoing DLC" too. Shorter games will be excused because they will come out with a multitude of paid DLC's to supplement later.

DLC might be "extras" now but they will someday be the worst thing to happen to AAA titles.

This has already being done. Not by Bioware (obviously, otherwise everyone would know) but for a game called Siren  Blood Curse (amazing game btw). Each chapter or 'episode' of the game was sold as a seperate DLC or you could buy all the episodes in a DLC pack. There wasn't anything silly like buying heros and companions but the whole game was basically a DLC with no actually real disk on sale.

The game was still amazingly good however, because it was design as a whole game and then just split up to be sold as DLC and it was just as good as any other CD game (also it was cheaper than CD games, only £22).

Not that I support DLC, I prefer the days when developers just developed the WHOLE game without thinking "wait, lets hold this back so we can shove it as a DLC and then make customers pay even more on top of the £40 ($60) they've already paid!"

I don't think Bioware is particularly guilty of this but many EA games are for instance the Tiger Wood games <_<, as well as other game companies.

Herbalism isn't rubbish.  It's a source of free incredibly cheap and plentiful Health and Mana potions.

Herbalism wasn't rubbish at all, neither was Poison making. I loved making new and better gernades or making health potions, especially when I was in a tight spot with no cash OR fricken all of Golems of Amgarrak.

Point 1: Since looted armour is not needed by companions now, you'll have to haul it *more*, not less. I doubt BW will change loot tables so that every class will only have needed stuff dropped. They seems to be cutting stuff, not adding it.

Another variant would be that better stuff is only found in shops/plot events. But it'd be even more linear.

Point 2: Don't you dare bring up Planescape. It might have somewhat similar system around companions equipment, but it's main features were dialogues, characters and plot. Something Avellone does way better than anyone in Bioware can. "What's allowed to Jupiter is not allowed to a bull".
