I say this after having decided to start a Sentinel Shepard straight from the New Game option in Mass Effect 2, and then being dismayed to find that "Default New Game Shepard" apparently was a right bastard, having been as Renegade as humanly possible (ie. all possible permutations of the world are as though you went the Renegade route). Furthermore, there was no existing romance, and the dead crew member from Mass Effect 1 is picked out for you.
Now I have no problem missing out on little things like no Conrad Vernor, no e-mails from Emily Wong, no extra dialogue with Mordin about Kirrahe. Those are lovely little extras that a person should get to enjoy for starting the story from the beginning. But the notion that the "World Changing Decisions," the big ticket items that define who Shepard is and what Shepard has done to the galaxy at large are predetermined on a singular path is offputting.
Therefore, I truly hope Bioware considers giving this interactive comic to the existing platforms that we may better keep the flavor of our own unique Shepards and Mass Effect experiences no matter the gaming system we embrace.

And, BTW, I had a 40Gig PS3 until earlier this summer, when GameStop was offering $200 trade on all PS3 models, trying to increase stock during the PS3 shortage (I only paid $190 for mine, used, so it was a no-brainer to dump it). I'll be picking up another one, likely next holiday, when LBP2 & The Last Guardian releases. So don't go there, son.

Perhaps the comic will be told from a first person view not showing Shep's face. Even though I do not own a PS3 I am curious to see how this will all play out.
Also a hard copy of this comic for non PS3 players would be nice.

Why do you want a comic that doesn't tell the story of your character?Razorsedge820 wrote...

The fact that the PS3 version is getting an interactive comic book introduction also makes sense, since you need to have your own decisions from ME1 to import to ME2 to get the experience us 360/PC gamers are getting.
And if I had to guess, the "initial release being exclusive to PS3" means that it will eventually be made available to 360/PC users, once the exclusivity rights expire. Hate on this all you want, but I'll take a full ME1 experience over a comic book intro any day.

I really do not care if my Shepard's story is broken by cannon in a comic book, I would be more interested to see Mass Effect 1 and the old squad reimagined in illustrated form. It was just a suggestion of the top of my head I honesty do not see it happening anyway.
The comic book introduction will wind up on youtube anyway so it is no biggy to me.

The comic book will be available to Xbox 360 and PC gamers eventually, just not at launch.

Has he explained why PS3 owners are getting along with the game what 360 owners have had to pay for? If he has could you point me in that direction please?
If you were a 360 owner, you'd pay for the main game for about $20 and then pay for the DLC separately for about $26. Which is still cheaper than what the PS3 players are paying for the lot.
ETA: Also, XBox Live Gold members recently got to purchase the DLC on sale.
IF you bought the game recently that is. I bought it when it came out. This is why I won't be buying new games anymore. Companies like EA are upset about the huge used game sales from places like game stop, but it's stuff like this that makes that such a huge business. I for one am going to stick with buying used games a few months AFTER they come out.

Get a grip, ME2 is almost a year old and the dlc is aging too. As someone else pointed out, you pay to play the dlc(when it first comes out) NOW. You can't expect new people who pick up a year old game to pay in full for old content? Be reasonable.
That's so stupid, it's almost not worth responding....but I'll bite.
It's only "old" to PC and 360 gamers....last I checked, games aren't perishable goods.
To someone who only owns a PS3, it's brand spanking new. Don't attempt a rebuttal...you failed that with your initial comment.
This x 1000
I can't help but laugh when all you people mention "ME2 is old, it needs exclusive DLC and loads of content to make it worth the price". My god that is so stupid. It IS new to the PS3 players, ITS BRAND SPANKING NEW. They get updated graphics and the bugs are being ironed out. It doesn't need a ****load of DLC for it to be worth the price. Its bloody well better than anything thats on that system at the moment. The PS3 players are getting one hell of a deal with all of this extra content.

Firstly I'd like to talk about what's on the BluRay Disc; Of course Mass Effect 2 will be included. On top of that, Lair of the Shadow Broker, Project Overlord, Kasumi: Stolen Memory and the Blood Dragon Armour.
From this, are we to infer that the listed DLC is the "required playing" in order to properly experience Mass Effect 3?

Well, as I mentioned a few pages ago, the ultimate edition of any game is the smart and frugal thing to do. As soon as they were done creating DLC for Dragon Age: Origins, the ultimate edition was out with all the DLC included for about the price of what it cost to buy the original game when it was new. All one had to do was wait a year.Drakkhenden wrote...

This is why people say you pay to play the game now. It has always been this way, though the time period between first release and first price drop might have closed a bit.
Anyway, I wouldn't buy the game used. Buy it reduced price. They do this pesky Cerberus Network thing for purchase of the game new versus used.

Maybe, maybe not. Bringing Down the Sky was bundled with the PC version of ME1, but not playing it didn't really affect ME2.008Zulu wrote...

Can't imagine Lair of the Shadow Broker not having some major influence with ME3, but that's a topic for a different forum.

And too those complaining about the DLC being on the disk with little brain power:

Price for Standard Edition(collectors edition unconfirmed) Mass Effect 2 PS3: 59.99 USD Plus Tax
Price for Standard Edition Mass Effect 2 XBOX360: 19.99 USD Plus Tax
Price for ALL DLC available NOW for 360 version of ME2:
32.00 or 2560 MS pts.
Price of Standard Mass Effect 2 PC: 15.99 USD Plus Tax
PS3 price comparison to 360 and PC versions of ME2:
PS3-59.99+ tax (WITH UNCONFIRMED DLC)
360-19.99+ tax PLUS the OPTIONAL DLC cost of 32.00= $51.99+
PC-15.99+tax plus OPTIONAL DLC 32.00= 47.99
PS3
versions will cost between $8-12 more than ME2 versions for 360 or PC
versions, and keep in mind nobody has CONFIRMED WHAT DLC will be on the
PS3 version.
Still feel ripped off and betrayed after going
through this price breakdown??
Just thought I'd post that for them. SO remember, we're paying for the dlc too. If we got the DLC free, we'd be only paying $20 for ME2.

Hang on a second, when Jesse mentioned "Interactive Comic back story", did he mean that the guys who worked on the ME comic are gonna work on that too?
Yes, Dark Horse is working with us to make the Interactive ComicMac also wrote the comic (he wrote the other ones as well).
So I want to understand - Is this interactive comic eventually going to be released for th PC & Xbox?
