I've beaten ME2 on PC 5 times now, and I'll be getting it for PS3 as well. That interactive comic seems very cool and innovative. Can't wait to see Tali rendered on my favorite console =)

All in all, it sounds fair, having to wait a year plus not being able to experience ME1 in its entirety. It will keep me entertained while everyone is playing BlackOps.

Many thanks for the update(s), Jesse.

I originally picked up an x360 just so that I could play Mass Effect(s), and I think that I'll continue mostly continue my Mass Effecting on that platform. But since I already have ME2 for both x360 and PC, looks like I'll definitely need to get the PS3 version to keep the collection complete... :)

I'd just like to know if what has been announced (timed-exclusive Introductory experience plus the same DLC as what Xbox360 and PC got) is all that the PS3 is getting as extra content?  If that's the case, I really don't understand why Sony would have allowed Mass Effect 2 to come out on their console.  Maybe it was in exchange for Dead Space Extraction with move support that they allowed a pretty much straight port of a year-old game?

Well, I guess that'll stop the fanboys from crying that they've been betrayed by Bioware.  I just really would have liked to see some extra content.  Would have maybe made me want to buy it again for the PS3 even though I already have it for Xbox360.  I guess I'll pass on it then.

But that would undermine EA's 'Project Ten Dollar'.

I don´t think there is much to allow for Sony. If Bioware WANTS to release ME2 for the PS3, I´m pretty sure, Sony does not have the possibility to say NO.

But for Sony, it´s good to get this game, to beat Microsoft in "exclusiv" games.

The game will be released to get money from people, who don´t bought ME2 yet. It´s not for people, which add a PS3 version to their XBox360 and PC version.

Hmmm ... during my "thinking" of buying the PS3 version, price went up at amazon.de from 49,99 Euro to 69,99 Euro. Image IPB

Does anyone else have their paranoia hat on and is afraid we're getting no new DLC? That they were only willing to port the PS3 version of the game after it all came out?

I assume that it will be delayed until after PS3 release so that version can have som post release content.

Considering the Bioware doctors said different just last week, I'd say paranoia's not your issue.

Honestly, I think Sony's pretty ecstatic they are getting ME2 on their platform, the package is a reasonable deal at the price (and a very good one for those that can't get DLC for some reason - even though the x360/PC versions are now cheaper), but the kicker is that in spite of the exclusivity of ME1, their users are now going to be able to get into the game, and have the hope of getting ME3 day-1 (and I think that, even with the delays, there's massive potential on the PS3 side. There's a lot of people who've bought PS3 for it's blu-ray movie capabilities and ME2's brand of cinematic action RPG should be right up their alley. I know I have friends eager to join in!)

Nothing will stop the so-called fanboys (I prefer the terms haters and whiners, in this instance) from complaining, and overall, it's probably better if any PS3 exclusive content focuses on filling the ME1 void.

Thanks for all of the info Jesse! Are you allowed to comment of the possibility of the "Interactive Comic back story" showing up on other platforms?

If you can't address that issue, I understand.

That seems to be the only disparity that I can see at this point.

Thanks for the clarifications!

Maybe, maybe not. Bringing Down the Sky was bundled with the PC version of ME1, but not playing it didn't really affect ME2.

It didn't effect mass effect 2 at all, i didnt even read something about it in the game.....like i never played that dlc

There's a news announcement about it.  Weak yes, but it's there.

I'm not sure about in your countries but here the PC and 360 version are roughly 1/2 the price compared to when it first came out. When the PS3 version comes out I imagine it will be that full price but of course you get the DLC. that we've had for ages.

This "It isn't fair" stuff still cracks me up. I payed full price at release and now people can buy the game for $20. Do people who buy the game at a cheaper value now not deserve it simply because it was more expensive in the past?

Think of it this way, PS3 ME2 comes out in January. Now that all platforms have the same content, new story based DLC gets released not long after the PS3 launch and evrybody continues the journey at the same time.

Sure they do. I think the time of console games being released without the consent of the company who produces the console ended with... the Atari 7800? But why wouldn't they want ME2 on the PS3? They've just snagged one of Microsoft's biggest exclusives away from them, a major system seller. That's a huge victory for them.

While I can't release all the details about this yet, what I can tell you is that we want to create a stunning visual experience that not only tells the core story elements of  Mass Effect 1, but also is fully interactive allowing you to be faced with some of the major choices which will have consequences your Mass Effect universe.  This interactive comic's initial release will be exclusive to PS3 owners who would be otherwise unable to realize the full effect of choice in the Mass Effect universe and will be included on the Cerberus Network.

And therein lies the problem.

You claim that you're not trying to alienate your current fans, yet you fail to realize that trying =/= doing. You ARE alienating us.

The interactive comic should be made availalbe to Xbox 360 & PC owners as well. You claim that it's simply for PS3 owners who "would be otherwise unable to realize the full effect of choice in the Mass Effect universe," and are going to allow them to make major decisions regarding ME1 without playing the game, and that's fine....but the bottom line is that Xbox 360/PC owners are getting shafted on a feature that should be available for the GAME (Mass Effect 2), and not the PLATFORM (PS3). You are going to allow PS3 users--under the excuss that they can't play ME1--to be able to freely create their Shepard's backstory, and thus allowing them to easily change it with each playthrough....whereas Xbox 360/PC owners are forced to play the default Shepard with NO CHOICE WHATESOEVER on his/her backstory, and if they don't like it they must go and play ME1, a completely seperate purchase. And if a person would like to have multiple Shepards that differ in story choices and background? For Xbox 360/PC owners they must playthrough ME1 multiple times in order to gain the full experience of that...but PS3 owners? Nah, just load up this interactive comic and change all of the choices!

In trying to be fair to PS3 owners, you are, in effect, screwing Xbox 360 and PC owners. You have given no regard to Xbox 360 & PC owners who may not have played ME1, yet you claim that all of this is necessary for PS3 owners who haven't played ME1 and are addressing ONLY the later.

Bottom line Bioware.....you can say what you want and try to spin it however you want, but it all comes down to what you actually DO that matters....and you are making a significant number of your fans unhappy. You need to do the right thing and make EVERYTHING that is being done for the PS3 version available for the Xbox 360 & PC. It's not a matter of exclusive content----what you are doing completely changes how you play the game, how the game will play in the future, and altering the full Mass Effect experience...and that is NOT something you make "exclusive."

Dude, it's a comic. Grow up. The money made from porting to PS3 will make a better ME3. The loss of a comic book, which represents the abbreviation of a full game we've been playing for 3 years is hardly something to be upset about. Your argument that PC/360 users have to go back and play an entire game to change their choices is weak at best. The PS3 crowd aren't that lucky. In other news, you can always edit your save game files using the gib.

...*facepalm*

You know what. Let the members who shout 'boycott' boycott. They are pretty much a bunch of unreasonable bastards. But then again, we are on a OFFICIAL bioware forum. We are going to get a bunch of distasteful morons who will frown and cry at whatever Bioware does anyway. Same with any company. It's a fricken business for christ sake.

Why cannot anyone accept that the PS3 version, released a year later, gets all the free content? It's technically a GOTY version for the PS3... and I will bet you, they will do a GOTY version for PC and 360 version. It's inevitable. It's been a year since release. Mass Effect 2 is old news, so they have to get PS3 owners to jump in, especially with the lack of the first game. Voila, a game which has all the content available for DLC with the PS3 version.

But what do you care? You're going to ignore this, like everyone else, and still whine on about:

Bioware killing your babies
360/PC fans being crucified like jesus
PS3 owners are spawns of Satan.
EA brought the Holocaust.
