No. They are spending 60 dollars for a game with the DLC included.

You can buy the game now and buy all of the DLC for far cheaper than 60 dollars (american)

I bought the game a long time ago, so I've paid like 60 pounds altogether (96 dollars).

Thats not how economics works, products get cheaper over time as demand decreases. You paid more but you got the content earlier than someone who waits but pays less. If you want to pay less then wait for the GOTY edition to release.

What you SHOULD complain about is exclusive DLC if it happens. There is no moral justification for that.

Well, that's the key thing, you bought it a long time ago (as did I), games loose value over time. It would be frankly unfair on the PS3 customers to charge them full price for a year old game and not give them the DLC.

So lower the price and charge for the DLC.Problem solved. There only doing this because they want people to buy the PS3 version.

Not a good idea since only a minority buys DLCs. They will make more money out of PS3 owners if they force them to buy the DLC on disc and hey thats a better experience than ME without DLC.

Erm ... Sorry, but ... what the hell ???

You want bioware to lower the price and charge for the DLC ??? So that in the end, they pay the same price but "split" in game and DLC ??? <_<

Well, yes kraidy they want people to buy the PS3 version, hell I do, more money for BioWare to make ME3 awesome. I wonder if there would be this much angst if this was a PC/Xbox GOTY version, I bet not.

Probably.

Was there this much griping when Mass Effect was ported to the PC (excluding DRM)?

Yep the Xbots were raging over the free BDtS on PC. However in this case there is legitimate cause for rage if the PS3 gets exclusive content.

For what its worth I own ME2 on 360 as well as owning a PS3, do I feel betrayed that PS3 gets a bonus incentive for the game coming out a year later with free DLC included? Not at all.

I think some of it is jealousy in that the anticipation for the game is geared towards PS3 and 360/PC players feel shunted cause there not involved in the party and want in, relax guys we've had ME2 for months and im pretty sure Jesse's post is trying to say 'sit tight folks there might be something in it for you too.'

I'm pretty sure that we still have a nice bunch of bridging DLC still to come, something im highly anticipating for next year more than any other game apart from of course a ME3 announcement perhaps, and expanding the market to 3 consoles mean more gamers, more appreciation for Mass Effect and hopefully more of the franchise to come.

I personally don't really care about the PS3 version... but I don't like how EA is mainstreaming Bioware to the max. That's ****.

Well, I'm jealous about the PS3 version because I have to replay ME1 through every time I want a different playthrough. That's really the only thing that bothers me.

Maybe BioWare shouldn't have sold themselves, then, huh? They wouldn't have if they weren't okay with any changes EA would make.

As for EA...they bought BioWare to be BioWare. The BioWare stamp as a lot more clout with gamers than an EA one would. There would be no point in buying such a unique and popular studio if they didn't want them making the games they always made. There's a reason why Disney gives Pixar so much wiggle room.

You ever considered that the changes came because the last game that was made before EA bought them started development in what was at least 2005? You know, half a decade ago, which are like dog years in game time? And that plenty of BG fans complained that DAO hardly resembled BG? JE was quite a bit different from NWN and BG.

Given that Dragon Age is a cross platform release, im suprised Bioware didnt push to get ME2 on the PS3 at the time of initial launch perhaps they tried who knows. Either way im not fussed about PS3 getting it, sortof expected it in a way. As long as I have my copy of ME2 at the top of my games pile next to my 360 and I can continue to enjoy the game it still aces in my book.

Yeah okay, I get ya there.

But then thats the closest PS3 players get to expericening ME1 probably ever, the first time highlight playing ME1 for me was the intro which immediatley got me hooked into the game, I would say PS3 players may be jealous we still get to play the whole but then we have no idea what the comic will be like so I guess we'll both have to wait and see how that turns out i s'pose.

Or bioware could make the kasumi, overlord , and shadow broker dlc free for xbox and 360 players to even things out.
No matter what ea / bioware is charging for the game on ps3. It is for the game. It is a new game for the ps3. They are bundling the dlc free as an insentive. An incentive so far they aren't offering to xbox and pc players. Some are calling this ps3 bundle kinda like a game of the year edition. Well it is a bundle the pc and xbox user can't get. So that is not right. If bioware would make the three DLC's free it wouldn't take anything away from anyone.  All would be fine. If some one had bought it the dlc earlier they would have no right to complain. They really have none now. My problem with the free dlc bundle for the ps3 when it comes out is it would be unfair to charge a pc or xbox user money for the same thing if they chose to get it. I think all things should be even between all game platforms. No exclusive content. Not even timed exclusives. One platform shouldn't have a different package or bundle then another.

It's not much of an incentive if they need to buy the game for full price while I'm fully capable of buying it brand new for 19$ at the local retailer (in Canada) and pay for the DLC seperately. Though I'm not against the idea of a full price package for PC and 360 either, they are probably holding out on it for the eventual GOTY edition. Unless this is it and they stop making DLC.

I understand what you are are saying . But it is a new game to the ps3. I think bioware should have just made the package the same package that a 360 or pc player whould get if they bought it new then charged for the dlc. The same as they do for the pc and xbox.  No matter what bioware decided to charge for it. But since bioware is bundling those three DLCs with the ps3 package how is that far to an xbox or pc player that wanted to buy them? I am not trying to take anything away from anyone. I think we all should have the same packaging and content. The ones who bought the DLC already really have no right to complain. Prices change.  I am actually glad the ME series is going to the ps3.

How can it be on the disc and developed separately? It can't. You're making my point for me.

 Separate teams. Alongside the main team. Developed as DLC. That's why. Because it was never a part of the main quest. It was only ever developed as DLC to serve as DLC. It was done during development so the characters could be more easily integrated into the disc as a full companion and to minimize technical issues.

Maybe you misunderstand what "developed" means. If two people do two different projects and combine them together to make a whole, they've still developed their projects separately. Let's say it's for school: three people develop the main essay with the research and composition and writing. Another person is told to find pictures for emphasis--something unnecessary for the essay but it'll make it look better and score higher points.

But they run out of time and tell that fourth person to not bother with it, or maybe they're struggling with the research and can't afford for this fourth person to do his own thing, and ask them to instead work with them. Now there are no pictures. The essay is still complete, and the main project has been done. Maybe it would've been  better had they been able to get pictures for it, but they didn't.

So, even though they were involved with the same project, they chose to develop things separately to amalgamate with each other at the end. They never needed the pictures, only the essay. It is not entirely important that they were there, and no one can tell that there's anything missing.

You can stop your patronising, fourth grade teacher act. I know exactly what it means, you just aren't providing a valid reason for it.

Is the game being released a year later than it was originally on the 360? Yes.
Are we getting ME1? No - a comic book *does not count*.
Is the DLC finished? Yes.
Is there any reason not to include it on a Blu-Ray? (Because it can certainly fit) No.

The only reason not to include it is greed.

You also got the game a year in advance and can get it new for 19.99 while they'll most likely pay full price.

*ahem, i paid $60, not 20 so I don't know what you're talking about. I say they give the ps3 some cool free armor and then give pc, xbox, and ps3 owners free dlc.

I have a question about this interactive comic thing that will allow PS3 players to basically go through ME1's story and make all the major choices. I admit that this sounds fair, since many of them have never played ME1, but it does allow them to jump right into ME2 with all the decisions made, right? So does that mean they can quickly "play" through ME1 over and over to quickly start new ME2 playthroughs? I actually think it makes sense to allow PC players and Xbox players access to this feature so that we don't need to play through ME1 (over and over) if we want to play ME2 (new playthroughs). Why is this feature going to be PS3 exclusive? Is it because playing through an actual game of ME1 is actually a better experience because it offers more choices or something?

Sorry if this has been asked before, but this is a 23 page long thread, so...
