As a lot of people have already stated; I really don't care about the "GOTY" edition the PS3's getting, we all know if you wait long enough, most games will get one including additional content or drop sufficiently in price that buying DLC becomes reasonable. The interactive comic makes sense and is a creative solution to the issue of missing out on ME1.
My main issue is the use of the term exclusive for some DLC, and contrary to some previous posts, I do not believe it will be re-packaged promo (Dr Pepper) or pre-order items. The C in DLC stands for content - so if the "recon operations pack" is just the recon hood and the rest, the use of the term "exclusive" is not really appropriate.
The worst thing though seems to be the implication that there will not be any further DLC until after the launch of the PS3 version (and probably not for a month or two then). I must admit that if something comes out between now and then, which would most likely be a freebee on PS3, I will feel less inclined to purchase it, feelings which may well be shared by others here.

Edit: One thing I forgot to mention - Anyone else think that the sudden agreement to release a PS version has anything to do with increasing the audience base for the film? Not likely to be the primary factor, but I'm sure it was mentioned in the meetings.

They are getting the DLC free.

No. They are spending 60 dollars for a game with the DLC included.

You can buy the game now and buy all of the DLC for far cheaper than 60 dollars (american)

I bought the game a long time ago, so I've paid like 60 pounds altogether (96 dollars).

$96 was the price you paid for being an early adopter.

Was it worth it?

As someone who owns a 360 and a PS3, owns ME 2 360 and will buy the PS3 version, I say yes.

One of the absolute best games I've ever played.

It is a new game for the ps3.

Actually this isn't entirely true, there are two ways of looking at this:

1) It's a year (or so) old game, a new release doesn't change that.
or
2) It's a new game because ps3 owners haven't played it before.
However using this logic the game is new to anyone who hasn't played it before. so 360 owners should still have to pay full price for it new because to them it is brand new since they've never played it.

The only fair way to look at it is it was released ~a year ago, it's a old(ish) game. Who has or hasn't played it doesn't change that.

If you want to sell someone a old game at full price then you have to offer them something extra.

Plus by paying full price bioware does get more money, not everyone who buys it today on 360 pays for the DLC. Everyone who buys it on ps3 pays full price, which includes the main game and the DLC.

Hah, the hyphen between "Kasumi" and "Stolen Memories" makes it look like there's 4 missions included instead of 3. I wonder if an idiotic player will take that up and complain about it. At this point, nothing like that would surprise me.

Sorry, been a while since I last logged on but, what is the Recon Operations pack? A new (still) unnannounced DLC pack or a DLC pack exclusively for the PS3?

We're assuming it's a DLC pack that includes all the Dr. Pepper stuff (Recon Hood, Umbra Visor & Sentry Interface). Nothing is confirmed though.

I hope they release a similar bundle for the Xbox 360. I would definitely buy it even though I have the game and the DLC's. MY current Mass Effect 2 disc is starting to look a little worn out from all my playing.

If Bioware continues to release more DLC (as they have promised) then all 3 platforms may see a GOTY edition later next year. I doubt that this inital PS3 release is the equivalent of an ultimate edition.

I didn´t bought the DLC, cause I haven´t bought DLC for any game yet. But ... isn´t it a "recruiting" mission and a "seperate" mission to get the stolen memories ???

Yeah. The only other "generally unavailable" kit is the terminus set (armor and Blackstorm) - which is a crying shame, Blackstorm is my absolute favourite weapon in the game. I really hope it gets a wider release at some point, I really hope the maximum amount of people get to try it out.

I've just gone through this thread. I just read the Bioware posts, because the most of the rest is just whinning.

First of all : "This interactive comic's initial release will be exclusive to PS3 owners". It says INITIAL RELEASE will be exclusive. So in time it will be available to other platforms. Second thing is that it will cover the story of ME1. So what?? We got the whole ME1 on xbox and PC. Do you really want to cut your experience with ME1 to just a comic book. Come on.

Finnaly I just want to say that all this dicussion about uniqueness of PS3 version is pointless. ME1 was so great. It had mystery, great music, was so playable, lots of spece and places to explore. You could just stand there in the Presidium and watch the fountain, or climb with MAKO on the highest mountain and watch the sunset. This was ended with ME2. It has no the ME1 atmosphere. It was released to MAKE MONEY. Lots of shooting, straightforward story, confined spaces, etc.

So if the PS3 users are happy with that - let them have it. Unless ME3 does not come back to the ME1 style, it's over for me. It's all money.

This is the no spoilers forum, so I can't go into detail, but no. Recruiting Kasumi is roughly the same as Zaeed.

The Terminus set and Dr.Pepper content could be included, it's the only stuff I missed in my PC Mass Effect.

ME2 also has mystery, even better music, lots of playability, even more places to explore. You get even better looking vistas and landscapes in ME2 so that point is moot.

As for the level design it hasn't changed, ME1 was also a corridor shooter. If you're talking about the uncharted worlds that was copy and pasted bland surface with some terrain mapping to create impossible mountains that are hell to navigate. The ME2 uncharted worlds are all unique and clearly had more time and effort spent on them than their ME1 counterparts.

Oh and ME1 was released to MAKE MONEY SHOCK HORROR!!!! Every game is released for this purpose Sherlock.

To conclude your post is utter drivel and I hate myself for taking the time to provide an articulate response and hope your brain is capable of deciphering it.

The "It was released to make money" argument is the worst argument in history. Everything is designed to make money, but there's a douchey way of doing it and a not douchey way of doing it.

The problem is that Bioware are doing it the douchey way.

Releasing an interactive comic makes Bioware douchey ?

You are lucky to not have met a lot of people with douchey behavior, I guess.

Keep in mind that ME2 is ridiculously cheap for the PC and XBOX now, whereas PS3 users will have to pay for a full price.
